Abstract

The increase in the volume of vehicles resulted in a crisis of fossil fuels so there is a need for alternative fuels to replace gasoline. Butanol and Diethyl Ether (DEE) are alternative fuels that can be added to gasoline. This is because the Octane Number and high O2 levels optimize combustion in the cylinder and increase torque and power and save fuel. This study compares the addition of butanol and DEE to gasoline on torque, power, and Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC). The study used a 160cc gasoline engine with a carburetor with engine speeds of 1000, 2000, and 3000 rpm. Variation of fuel mixture 5%, 10%, and 15% on gasoline. The results showed that the DEE15 mixture increased the highest torque by 28% at 3000 rpm compared to other fuel mixtures. Engine power also increases the highest by 28% when using a mixture of DEE15 compared to other fuels. Meanwhile, BSFC experienced the highest decrease of 19% when using the DEE15 mixture compared to other mixtures.

Abstract

The development of butanol as a gasoline additive is encouraged by the government to reduce pollution and the fuel crisis. This is because butanol is a green fuel that is environmentally friendly and can be produced. In addition, the octane number and high oxygen concentration in butanol optimize engine performance and improve exhaust emissions. This research correlates engine power and Brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) with the BTE of gasoline-butanol-fueled engines and identifies the content of Nox compounds in exhaust gases through engine Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT). The percentage of butanol in gasoline is 5% -15%. Engine speed from 1000-3000 rpm. Dynotest is used to measure BTE while the thermocouple is used to measure exhaust gas temperature. This research proves that the addition of butanol increases energy absorption which is converted into power with effective fuel consumption which means BTE increases. The highest BTE increase was 21.7% in the B15 blend. EGT decreased by 8.6% in the B16 mixture compared to B0. This identifies that the concentration of Nox in the exhaust gas also decreases.

Abstract

The use of gasoline in vehicles produces CO, HC, and NOx emissions which are dangerous for the environment. Using butanol and ethanol as additional gasoline can reduce pollutant emissions. This is because alcohol has a high oxygen content and helps combustion more completely. This research compares the Exhaust Gas Temperature and Emissions results of EFI engines using gasoline-butanol and gasoline-ethanol. The EFI engine used has a capacity of 150CC. The alcohol used was butanol and ethanol with a percentage of 5%, 10%, and 15% in each test. The test results showed that the highest EGT reduction occurred in the E15 mixture at 23.98% and B15% at 8.65. Meanwhile, CO emissions experienced the highest reduction in E10 by 53.6% and B15 by 44.6%. HC emissions also experienced the highest reduction in E15 by 70.5% and B15 by 66.7% compared to gasoline. However, CO2 emissions increased to 17.07% in the E15 mixture and 11.46% in B15. This proves that the addition of ethanol produces more complete combustion than the addition of butanol.

Abstract

The energy crisis is largely attributed to the extensive use of fossil fuels. Butanol and ethanol can be used as an alternative energy source because their characteristics are superior to those of gasoline, such as RON and oxygen content. This study aims to determine the effect of gasoline-butanol and gasoline-ethanol mixtures on engine performance so that they can be an option to replace fossil fuels. The percentage of alcohol (butanol and ethanol) in gasoline is 5%, 10%, and 15% with variations in engine speed of 1000, 2000, and 3000 rpm. This study uses a dynamometer as a tool to measure engine performance. Test results show that E15 can increase engine torque and power by up to 26%, while B15 increases by 19%. In addition, ethanol can reduce BSFC better than butanol. The BSFC value decreased by 17% in E15, while B15 decreased by 15% compared to pure gasoline. This is because ethanol's RON and oxygen content are higher, so torque and power increase while BSFC decreases. These results prove that gasoline-ethanol is better at improving engine performance than gasoline-butanol.

Abstract

Korosi merupakan kerusakan atau degradasi logam karena reaksi dengan lingkungan yang korosif. Korosi juga merupakan suatu masalah yang sering terjadi pada lambung kapal saat pengoprasian dimana korosi dapat merusak pada bagian tertentu yaitu pada bagian yang terkontak dengan udara bebas dan air laut yang merupakan fakor penyebab timbulnya korosi. Untuk menghindari terjadinya kerusakan pada lambung kapal maka perlu mengaplikasikan pelapisan zinc cromate pada lambung kapal agar dapat meningkatkan mutu Pengaruh laju korosi pada spesimen coating zinc cromate pada plat baja SS400 plat kapal dengan waktu 24 jam menunjukan rata–rata laju korosi 0.020254 mmpy. waktu 48 jam menunjukan rata–rata laju korosi 0,204743 mmpy. waktu 72 jam menujukan rata– rata laju korosi 0.339970 mmpy.

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) graduates are the biggest contributor to the unemployment rate. The Tegal Indonesia Bintang Manufaktur Job Training Institute helps increase the knowledge and skills of participants who incidentally are class XII SMK. Class XII who graduate in 2023 will certainly have low knowledge and competence because of the learning method used online (Covid-19 pandemic policy). The community service program (PKM) aims to strengthen basic competence, especially measuring. The method used is Training which is held for three days (20-22 March 2023). The results of PKM presented increase in measuring competency of 95.38% from 32 participants. Through the free test conducted at the beginning and the Post test at the end of the activity, measuring competence has been optimal as reflected in the practical implementation of Quality control

Abstract

Abstrak: Motor Bakar merupakan salah satu komponen utama dunia otomotif yang memiliki peran vital dalam sistem penggerak kendaraan bermotor, baik menggunakan kendaraan bensin maupun diesel. Pemahaman mengenai motor bakar menjadi dasar penting bagi siswa SMK agar mengembangkan kompetensi teori dan juga teknis yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan industri otomotif yang terus berkembang. PKM ini dilaksanakan oleh tim PKM D3 Teknik Mesin bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman secara teori dan juga praktik. Materi yang disampaikan pada PKM ini yaitu pengertian, klasifikasi, komponen utama, serta proses kerja motor bakar 4 langkah, dan juga demonstrasi menggunakan piston dan simulator injeksi. PKM ini menggunakan pendekatan secara post test, ceramah, diskusi, praktikum, post test. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada 20 siswa juruan teknik bisnis dan sepeda motor dengan rerata sebanyak 47% setelah dilakukan post test dan kepuasan siswa pada pelatihan ini rerata 3. Kegiatan PKM diharapkan menjadi bekal penting bagi siswa nantinya ketika didunia kerja.Abstract: The Combustion Engine is one of the main components of the automotive world that plays a vital role in the propulsion system of motorized vehicles, whether using gasoline or diesel vehicles. Understanding combustion engines is an important foundation for vocational high school students to develop theoretical and technical competencies that are in accordance with the needs of the ever-growing automotive industry. This PKM is implemented by the PKM D3 Mechanical Engineering team aims to improve understanding in theory and practice. The material presented in this PKM is the definition, classification, main components, and working process of a 4-stroke combustion engine, as well as demonstrations using pistons and injection simulators. This PKM uses a post-test, lecture, discussion, practicum, and post-test approach. The results of the training showed a significant increase in 20 students majoring in business and motorcycle engineering, with an average of 47% after the post-test, and student satisfaction in this training averaged 3. PKM activities are expected to be important provisions for students later when they enter the world of work.

Abstract

Abstrak: Lulusan vokasi seperti Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) menjadi penyumbang terbesar angka pengangguran. Fenomena ini bertolak belakang dengan orientasi pembelajaran yang diterapkan yang menggunakan metode praktikum berbasis project based learning (PBL). SMK Jurusan Teknik Sepeda Motor adalah jurusan yang memiliki potensi penyerapan tenaga kerja terbesar dengan mempertimbangkan fenomena volume kendaraan bermotor yang terus meningkat. Program Pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi sepeda motor bagi siswa Teknik Sepeda Motor SMK Muhammadiyah Kramat Kabupaten Tegal. Metode yang digunakan adalah PBL yang diterapkan melalui Workshop propertis bahan bakar dan Workshop Karakteristik bahan bakar. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 21 Juni 2024 bertempat di bengkel Teknik Sepeda Motor SMK Muhammadiyah Kramat Kabupaten Tegal yang diikuti 20 siswa kelas XI. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, siswa kelas XI memperoleh peningkatan kompetensi sepeda motor dengan prosentase 20%. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari hasil pengukuran kompetensi awal melaluisi pada PreTest dengan capaian penguasaan sebesar 68% dan meningkat menjadi 88% melalui pengukuran pada evaluasi PostTest. Pemberian materi propertis bahan bakar, performa dan karakteristik bahan bakar yang dilakukan melalui workshop dengan metode PBL terbukti dapat terserap secara maksimal.Abstract: Vocational graduates such as Vocational High Schools (SMK) are the largest contributors to unemployment. This phenomenon is in contrast to the applied learning orientation which uses a practical method based on project based learning (PBL). SMK Motorcycle Engineering Department is a department that has the greatest potential for absorbing labor considering the phenomenon of the increasing volume of motorized vehicles. This Community Service Program aims to improve motorcycle competence for Motorcycle Engineering students at SMK Muhammadiyah Kramat, Tegal Regency. The method used is PBL which is implemented through the Fuel Properties Workshop and Fuel Characteristics Workshop. The activity was carried out on June 21, 2024 at the Motorcycle Engineering workshop of SMK Muhammadiyah Kramat, Tegal Regency which was attended by 20 class XI students. Based on the evaluation results, class XI students obtained an increase in motorcycle competence with a percentage of 20%. This is shown from the results of the initial competency measurement through the PreTest with a mastery achievement of 68% and increasing to 89% through measurements in the PostTest evaluation. The provision of material on fuel properties, performance and fuel characteristics carried out through workshops using the PBL method has proven to be maximally absorbed.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat adalah salah satu tridharma perguruan tinggi bertujuan untuk menerapkan ilmu yang didapat dan menjawab permasalahan yang ada dimasyarakat. SMK jurusan teknik kendaraan ringan mempunyai salah satu permasalahan yaitu kurangnya pengetahuan mengenai motor bakar baik dari teori maupun praktik padahal komptensi tersebut sangat diperlukan oleh siswa jurusan teknik kendaran ringan. PKM ini mempunyai tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ktrampilan siswa melalui pelatihan yang terstruktur. Pelaksanaan PKM dilaksanakan selama 2 hari dengan peserta sebanyak 14 orang siswa. Kegiatan pelaksanaan PKM dengan 3 metode dengan 3 tahapan, persiapan dan perizinan, kemudian pelaksanaan pada hari kegiatan yaitu teori dan praktik yang diawali dengan pre-test, post-test dan yang terakhir evaluasi. Hasil evaluasi Peningkatan sebesar 25% pada saat pre-test dan post-test. Kemudian pada saat peserta mengisi tingkat kepuasan rata – rata diatas 3. Sehingga menunjukan pelaksanaan PKM berjalan dengan baik dan efektif untuk komptensi siswa smk jurusan teknik kendaraan ringan.Abstract: Community Service is one of the tridharma of higher education, which aims to apply the knowledge gained and answer problems that exist in society. SMK majoring in Light Vehicle Engineering has one of the problems, namely the lack of knowledge about combustion engines, both from theory and practice, even though these competencies are very much needed by students majoring in Light Vehicle Engineering. This PKM aims to improve students' knowledge and skills through structured training. The implementation of PKM was carried out for 2 days with 14 students participating. The implementation of PKM activities with 3 methods with 3 stages, preparation and licensing, then implementation on the day of the activity, namely theory and practice, which began with a pre-test, post-test, and finally evaluation. The evaluation results increased by 25% during the pre-test and post-test. Then, when participants filled in, the average satisfaction level was above 3. So it shows that the implementation of PKM is running well and effectively for the competency of SMK students majoring in Light Vehicle Engineering.

Abstract

The limited availability of fossil fuels and the growing demand for energy have led to a global energy crisis. Ethanol and DEE can be used as alternative energy to replace fossil fuels. Ethanol and DEE have high RON and oxygen content, as well as low viscosity, which accelerates the flame, thereby increasing torque and SI engine power. DEE is still rarely used as a gasoline blend, but its chemical characteristics can improve engine combustion. This study aims to compare the use of gasoline-ethanol and gasoline-DEE blends on SI engine performance. The test results prove that the DEE15 blend produces the highest torque value of 4.37 N.m or an increase of 28% compared to pure gasoline. The E15 blend produces the highest SI engine torque value of 4.31 N.m or an increase of 26% compared to pure gasoline. In addition, SI engine power increases by 28% in DEE15 and 26% in E15 compared to pure gasoline. From these test results, the use of a gasoline-DEE blend can improve SI engine performance better than gasoline-ethanol.
