Abstract

Abstract

Skills are an essential aspect that every individual should have. One of the critical skills essential in making education and employment successful in the 21st century is critical thinking skills. A person with critical thinking skills can search for understand, and evaluate a statement by analyzing logical and rational relevant matters in problem-solving or decision-making processes. This study aims to analyze the influence of science process skills on critical thinking skills. The sampling technique used is total sampling, with a sample of 60 practicants. This research is descriptive quantitative research with experimental methods through observation sheet instruments and essay test. Data analysis techniques were used, namely descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The data analysis obtained science process skills of grade VII students at SMPN 8 Batanghari have been categorized as good, but more dominant in female students with a percentage of 79.5%. Meanwhile, critical thinking skills have also been classified as critical and dominant in female students, 46.2% in the highly critical category. Based on the study results, obtained p-value 0.000/2= 0.000, 0.000<0.05, meaning there is an influence of science process skills on students' critical thinking skills. It is hoped that this research can contribute to schools in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: An Merdeka curriculum requires students to be able to acquire scientific attitudes and process skills in science learning. Laboratory management is very important in supporting science learning. This research aims to analyze the management of science laboratories to support science learning. Methodology: This type of research is qualitative research using a systematic literature review method. The population in this study was 60 articles originating from Google Scholar with publications from 2018 to 2023 which were then filtered again and a sample of 18 articles was obtained. The data analysis technique uses the matrix method. Main Findings: Based on the results of a systematic literature review analysis, it is known that laboratory management in several schools has factors inhibiting laboratory management, such as the unavailability of laboratory personnel and technicians, multifunctional laboratory space, allocation of time for laboratory use, and lack of infrastructure in science laboratories. The conclusion in this research is that based on a review of literature studies, it is known that in the management of science laboratories in junior high schools, in some literature there are still inhibiting factors in its management. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty in this research is the existence of a literature study which discusses the management of science laboratories in supporting science learning.

Abstract

Skills are an essential aspect that every individual should have. Students' critical thinking ability in Indonesia is still in the low category. Based on the fact that science learning carried out by teachers in schools tends to use the lecture method in learning. It causes students to lack critical thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of science process skills on critical thinking skills. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research through experimental methods. The sampling technique used is total sampling, with a sample of 60 practitioners. The methods used to collect data are observation and tests. The instruments used in collecting data are observation sheets and essay tests. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Data analysis obtained that the students' science process skills were considered good, but female students were more dominant. Meanwhile, critical thinking skills are also classified as critical and dominant in female students in the very critical category. Based on the study results, it was concluded that there was an influence of science process skills on students' critical thinking skills. It is hoped that this research can contribute to schools in Indonesia.
