Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: This community service aims to provide understanding and internalization of the values of Eid al-Adha to Muslims, especially in the context of the slaughter of sacrificial animals carried out by Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail. This community service initiative is considered important due to the phenomenon of society being trapped in patterns of animalistic behavior, such as the ruthless and oppressive nature of wolves, the cunning of rats, the deceitful nature of dogs, and the slave-like mentality of sheep. The community service initiative was implemented using a service-learning approach with a lecture method. The results of this service show positive changes in perspective and behavior, reflected in increased religious devotion and better control of negative behavior in daily life. The activity is considered effective in strengthening religious understanding, building awareness, and promoting the values contained in Eid al-Adha.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems play a critical role in supporting sustainable aquaculture through the provision of ecological services, social benefits, and economic contributions. However, increasing pressures from land conversion and unsustainable aquaculture practices have triggered significant ecosystem degradation in the coastal region of South East Lombok Regency. This study aims to formulate strategies for mangrove land utilization that promote sustainable aquaculture management by integrating ecological, social, and economic considerations. The research employed a descriptive-analytical approach combining biophysical assessment, economic valuation, and socio-cultural analysis of coastal communities. Primary data were collected through field observations and interviews, while secondary data were derived from satellite imagery interpretation and scientific publications. Strategic formulation was conducted using the integration of SWOT analysis and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to generate measurable and prioritized management options. Findings reveal that mangrove ecosystems in Ekas Bay, Sunut Bay, and Jor Bay still retain substantial ecological potential despite varying levels of degradation. The estimated total economic value of mangroves reaches approximately IDR 104 million/ha/year, dominated by direct benefits from fisheries and indirect benefits from coastal protection. Financial analysis indicates that aquaculture operations appear feasible when environmental costs are excluded, whereas economic analysis incorporating ecological costs deems them unviable. Through the integration of SWOT–AHP, key strategies recommended include the promotion of silvofishery models, rehabilitation of degraded mangrove areas, and enhanced community participation in coastal resource management. Overall, this study underscores the necessity of an integrative governance framework in which ecological sustainability serves as the foundation for aligning social and economic dimensions. The proposed strategies are expected to provide a reference for policy-making toward sustainable aquaculture development in coastal regions

Abstract

Abstract The 45th anniversary celebration of the UMMAT should be used as an opportunity to reflect on the UMMAT's journey thus far. The UMMAT must learn from the story of the land of Saba', which was once fertile, prosperous, and blessed with abundant provisions through the Ma'rib dam, but due to ingratitude, that prosperity eventually turned into disaster. This community service initiative aims to enhance understanding, awareness, and implementation of Quranic values by drawing lessons from the Ma’rib dam. The service learning approach is implemented through lectures. The outcomes of this community service demonstrate positive changes in perspectives and behavior, reflected in improved governance within the UMMAT. Participatory activities during the anniversary celebration can serve as an effective alternative model for strengthening religious understanding, fostering awareness, and promoting the values contained in the teachings of the Qur’an in building a better, well-planned, transparent, and accountable campus governance system. Keywords: reception; reflection; 45th milad of the UMMAT; Ma’rib Dam

Abstract

The growing volume of non-commercial plastic waste poses significant environmental challenges while also presenting opportunities for alternative construction materials. This study aims to assess the environmental impacts of producing paving blocks from plastic waste using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach. A cradle-to-gate system boundary was applied, encompassing five main production stages: sorting, shredding, melting, hydraulic molding, and cooling. Inventory data were collected from daily production activities, with plastic waste inputs ranging from 1.48 to 2.12 tons per day, and paving block outputs of approximately 0.0018 tons per day, along with electricity consumption between 200 and 250 kWh. The results indicate that the extrusion and molding stages contribute most significantly to environmental impacts due to high energy consumption and thermal emissions. Despite the relatively low product output, converting plastic waste into paving blocks contributes to landfill reduction and supports circular economy principles. The study recommends improving energy efficiency and integrating renewable energy sources to further reduce environmental impacts. Overall, the findings demonstrate the potential of plastic waste-based paving blocks as a sustainable innovation for infrastructure development.
