Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop a Physics textbook at the upper secondary level that reflects the values of Islamic education. The development of this physics book is also enrichment material using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) approach model. In developing the learning materials, 5 physics teachers were involved for five high schools in Aceh Besar, where 10 students were taken per school for a total of 50 students. At the analysis stage, researchers use self-evaluation to ensure the feasibility of the analysis. Apart from that, prototype II was also developed in the form of several chapters involving one religious lecturer. Furthermore, these chapters were tested directly on all students to see the students' cognitive and behavioral mastery over the centuries and whether their attitudes reflected correct Islamic values and were in accordance with the religious demands of being a Muslim. The results of the research show that: (1) the development of Islamic-based physics material can build students' cognitive and affective domains which are characterized by good behavior and mutual respect, (2) Physics books with an Islamic character curriculum make students appear polite and confident, (3) Teachers as curriculum developers and implementers feel responsible for taking anticipatory steps so that physics books in schools can truly reflect Islamic values as a whole, both in terms of validity and practicality.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and examine the feasibility of learning media based on Articulate Storyline 3 for circulatory system material for grade XI students at MAN 1 Pidie Jaya. The media development utilized a modified ADDIE model, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. This study employed both quantitative and qualitative approaches, involving subject matter experts, media experts, and students as respondents. Validation by subject matter and media experts was conducted to assess media feasibility, while small group trials were performed to determine student responses. The results indicate that the developed learning media has a high validity level, with an average assessment of 86% from subject matter experts and 87.67% from media experts. Student response to the learning media was also highly positive, with an acceptance rate of 89%. The media's strengths include interactive displays, animations that facilitate understanding, and interactive quiz features. However, there are some limitations such as computer device requirements and potential technical constraints. Overall, the developed Articulate Storyline 3 learning media has proven to be valid, practical, and effective for use in learning circulatory system material at the high school level

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide guidance to students in making environmentally based periscope teaching aids using the E-STEM PjBL model at SD Negeri 2 Klieng. This activity was carried out in three stages, namely the preparation stage, including coordinating the implementation with partners, which was carried out in June, the implementation stage, namely carrying out activities to make environmentally based periscope props, which were carried out by students and assisted by guidance by teachers and the Unaya TEAM, which was carried out in the month of June. September, the third stage of evaluation is to evaluate activities so as to obtain advantages and disadvantages which will be used as a reference for future activities carried out in September. The results obtained from this activity are project learning by making environmentally based periscope props which can increase students' creativity very well. The conclusion of this activity is that students are able to make environmentally based periscope props so that they can increase students' creativity when studying in class.

Abstract

Abstract. The study aims to find the effectiveness of Scaffolding-Based Instruction (SBI) for teaching writing in the context of higher education and capture the process of an SBI in genre-based EFL writing for English department students in higher education to improve students’ writing skills. The study was grounded in Design-Based Research (DBR) (Akker et al., 2006) and Participatory Action Research (PAR) (Kemmis& McTaggart, 2005).  PAR was placed at the third phase of DBR in iterative cycles of testing and refinement of solutions in practice. It purposes to develop and improve the model for its appropriateness. The study was conducted in two private universities, the University of Abulyatama (UNAYA) and Universitas Bina Bangsa Getsampena (UBBG), in the Province of Aceh. Two teacher collaborators and 57 students volunteered to participate in the study. The data were collected through observation, questionnaire and interview. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and the effectiveness during Teaching Learning Cycles (TLC) was analyzed through the average score between the pre-test and post-test.  The result of the study revealed that the SBI model implemented in the Intermediate Writing class was effective after the teaching-learning cycle in the form of PAR it shows a difference between the pre-test and post-test scores with an average of 42.81 to an average of 69.31. Based on the evaluation results, SBI learning models and tools can be implemented in learning to write argumentative essays by paying attention to suggestions and comments given by potential users. SBI learning model is innovative and typically support and promote collaborative learning that carried out learning based on the 4C’s of 21st-century skills (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication). It implies to students’ self-directed learning paradigm to self-determined learning paradigm. Keywords: writing, genre-based approach, scaffolding

Abstract

This study aims to develop an ethnoscience-based educational video about the human skeletal system for 11th- grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Indrapuri, Aceh Besar. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) by Thiagarajan. The video, developed using the CapCut application, integrates the traditional Acehnese dance, Ranup Lampuan, with the concept of the human skeletal system. Validation conducted by three media experts showed a validity percentage of 79.41%, which is categorized as feasible. The ethnoscience-based video, using the Ranup Lampuan dance to teach the skeletal system, is designed to incorporate local wisdom into biology education. The Ranup Lampuan dance, a part of Acehnese culture, was chosen because its graceful and structured movements represent various functions of bones and joints in the human body, helping students understand the material in a more contextual and meaningful way. This educational video not only serves as a learning medium but also as a tool for preserving local culture and instilling cultural pride in students.

Abstract

Preservice teachers must have a good understanding of Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (PCK) to improve their performance in science teaching. This study aims to evaluate the effect of preservice training for preservice Biology teachers on improving PCK understanding. The research method used is one group pre-test post-test design with a quantitative approach. The population of this research is Biology Education Department students of the teacher training and Education Faculty, while the sample consisted of 30 students selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was a test, to determine the mastery of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). The test instrument in the form of descriptive test questions (pre-test and post-test) is used to determine the mastery of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) skills of prospective teachers before and after learning. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests and quantitative descriptive analysis. The result showed that students’ post-test scores for content knowledge and pedagogy were higher than the pre-test. In conclusion, the implementation of pre-service training for prospective Biology teachers significantly improves their understanding of PCK. Therefore, this pre-service training is essential to develop PCK that can be used in designing learning experiences that follow specific pedagogy and content.

Abstract

Gampong Lubok Sukon, located in Ingin Jaya District of Aceh Besar Regency, is one of the tourist villages in Aceh Besar. The village’s appeal lies in its preserved natural beauty and the maintenance of its ancestral cultural heritage. Rumoh Aceh is a significant attraction for local and international tourists visiting the village. Based on the interview conducted, most visitors to the village are foreigners. This influx of foreign visitors allows the children in the village to develop their foreign language skills. However, those children interact less with this foreigner due to their limited vocabulary. Therefore, the team is interested in organizing a community service activity in that village. This activity aims to enhance the childern’s English vocabulary through the educational game of Snake and Ladders. This activity involves 20 elementary school students from Gampong Lubok Sukon. The result of this activity shows that the participating children are highly enthusiastic in answering the questions provided. The respondents showed interest in learning English through Snake and Ladders game and their vocabulary improved.
