Abstract

Abstract

Pharmacy students who are working on their thesis experience impacts on physical and psychological health such as experiencing poor sleep quality. Poor sleep quality can trigger academic stress and is supported by low self-efficacy. Therefore, the lower the quality of sleep possessed by students, the higher the level of academic stress in completing the thesis and vice versa. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of academic stress and self-efficacy on sleep quality in 2020 Faculty of Pharmacy students at Muhammadiyah Purwokerto University who are doing thesis. This study uses quantitative methods with multiple linear regression tests. Respondents in this study totalled 101 Faculty of Pharmacy students. The measuring instruments used were sleep quality scale, academic stress scale, and self-efficacy scale. The results showed that academic stress and self-efficacy can simultaneously contribute an influence of 31.5% on sleep quality. Efforts are needed to improve sleep quality in order to minimize academic stress, such as practicing self-control to boost confidence in completing their thesis.

Abstract

The current needs of cyclists, which have now become part of their lifestyle, are accessories and spare parts. One of the reasons someone decides to buy something is due to the influence of conformity. The purpose of this study is to predict the contribution of conformity behavior to the decision to purchase bicycle accessories and spare parts. This research uses a quantitative method with a simple regression analysis. The scales used are the conformity scale and the purchase decision scale. The sampling technique used in this is the purposive sampling technique. The population in this study consists of adult cyclists (21–60 years old), for a total of 83 participants. Based on the analysis of data collected from the conformity scale and purchase decision scale, then processed using SPSS version 26, it was found that the significance value of conformity and purchase decision is 0.00 (p= < 0.05), which means conformity significantly influences purchase decisions. However, this influence occurs negatively. Meanwhile, the contribution of conformity to purchase decisions is 16.9%. Based on the research results, it is shown that adult cyclists exhibit conformity behavior, and this conformity behavior negatively influences the decision to purchase bicycle accessories and spare parts. This finding is noteworthy because conformity is commonly found in adolescents, while adulthood is generally referred to as "trial and error" behavior, but this time conformity behavior is found in adults. The reason conformity only slightly influences purchase decisions may be because there are still many other factors influencing purchase decisions, such as self-concept, product quality, product branding, lifestyle, attitudes or evaluations of products, and income.

Abstract

Students in Islamic schools often experience academic stress due to the demands of studying general subjects and religious subjects. Self-regulated learning and student engagement are important to help students manage stress and optimize learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to test the indirect effect of student engagement in mediating self-regulated learning on academic stress in students. This study used a saturated sample of 154 students who were analyzed quantitatively by testing the outer model and inner model with the SmartPLS application. The measuring instruments used were a modification of the Student-Life Stress Inventory (SLSI) scale (α = 0.989), a modification of the Student Engagement in School Questionnaire (SESQ) scale (α = 0.983), and a modification of the Assessing Academic Self-Regulated Learning scale (α = 0.988). The results of the inner model analysis showed that self-regulated learning had a significant effect on academic stress (β = 0.026; T = 2.239; P = 0.026), and student engagement entered as a mediator of the effect of self-regulated learning on academic stress remained significant (β = 0.023; T = 2.617; P = 0.009), which means it mediates partially. The R-Square results of self-regulated learning together with student engagement on academic stress showed a value of 0.994, which means that 99.4% of self-regulated learning and student engagement affect academic stress. The implication for Islamic schools is the importance of increasing self-regulated learning and student engagement to help students reduce academic stress by implementing student-centered learning strategies.

Abstract

Raising children with special needs is a challenging process that requires understanding, support, and adjustments from parents, especially mothers. Therefore, resilience is a crucial factor that enables mothers of children with hearing impairments to remain strong, endure difficulties, and recover from adversity. This study aims to analyze the influence of gratitude and family support on the resilience of mothers with children with hearing impairments at SLB B Yakut Purwokerto. This research employs a quantitative method, involving 112 mothers as participants, with data analyzed using multiple linear regression through SPSS for Windows version 26.00. The results indicate that gratitude has a significant effect on resilience, with an F-value of 50.713 and a significance value (p) = 0.000 (p < 0.050), contributing 31.6%. Family support also significantly affects resilience, with an F-value of 38.057 and a significance value (p) = 0.000 (p < 0.050), contributing 25.7%. Simultaneously, gratitude and family support contribute 39% to maternal resilience, with an F-value of 34.874 and a significance value (p) = 0.000 (p < 0.050). Based on these findings, it is recommended that mothers of children with hearing impairments develop gratitude as a strategy to enhance their resilience. Additionally, families are encouraged to provide more intensive support, both emotionally, instrumentally, and socially, to strengthen the mothers’ psychological endurance. Educational institutions and communities can also play a role in offering mentoring programs and psychosocial support to assist mothers in facing the challenges of raising children with hearing impairments.

Abstract

Vocational high school students need to have high integrity to be able to complement their skills, so that in the future, these students can meet the needs of the world labour market. Students who engage in academic dishonesty often have low self-efficacy and are affected by peer conformity. This study empirically examines the effect of self-efficacy on academic dishonesty, the effect of peer conformity on academic dishonesty, and the combined effect of self-efficacy and peer conformity on academic dishonesty among students at SMK "X" Purbalingga. This research employs a quantitative method with multiple linear regression analysis. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The results indicate a significant effect of self-efficacy and peer conformity on academic dishonesty, with an F-value of 58.481, p = 0.000, and an R-square of 0.353. This demonstrates that self-efficacy and peer conformity contribute 35.3% to academic dishonesty. This study proves that self-efficacy and peer conformity significantly impact academic dishonesty among students at SMK X Purbalingga.
