Abstract

Oyster mushrooms, which have broken and small leaf petals, if used with fast, precise and simple technology, can increase the economic value of farmers and can become an icon of regional products in Limau Manih Village, Padang City. Oyster mushrooms contain mevinolin and similar compounds which have the potential to inhibit HMG CoA in cholesterol biosynthesis, increasing metabolism; hepatitis, digestion, duodenum and stomach, treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes, anemia, increasing body resistance (polio, influenza, anemia), nutrition, anti-tumor, anti-oxidant, and regulating autonomic nervous function, with activity methods providing information about oyster mushrooms which has many health benefits so it can be processed into oyster mushroom powder for long-term use, as well as increasing the productivity of oyster mushroom powder by oven drying. The conclusion of this activity is that the ingredients match the needs so that it can improve the economy of oyster mushrooms and standardize flour as a food ingredient and traditional medicine. There was a positive response from the participants considering that this service activity was part of the partners' understanding of the properties of oyster mushrooms which are used as traditional medicine. Most (75%) participants understand the actions taken by partners to increase the production of quality oyster mushroom flour

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi tentang cara swamedikasi tanaman hias beracun pada masyarakat kelurahan Piai tangah, kecamatan Pauh, kota Padang dalam bentuk penyuluhan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilakukan dalam 3 tahap selama 1 bulan. Tahap persiapan yang terdiri dari rapat dengan pihak terkait, penyusunan proposal, dan survey ke lokasi telah dilakukan. Tahap selanjutnya adalah pelaksanaan yang merupakan agenda utama, antara lain penyuluhan. Dari kegiatan pengabdian ini, diharapkan masyarakat di SD N 11 Padang kelurahan Piai tangah, kecamatan Pauh, kota Padang memperoleh edukasi pertolongan pertama keracunan tanaman hias yang tepat sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai swamedikasi di saat mendesak. Kesimpulan; Adanya kesesuaian materi dengan kebutuhan warga kelurahan Piai tangah, adanya respon yang positif dari peserta mengingat kegiatan pengabdian merupakan kebutuhan warga dalam rangka peningkatan kesehatan terutama pada pemilik tanaman hias beracun. Sebanyak 75% peserta telah memahami masalah terpapar tanaman hias beracun, cara pertolongan pertama yang tepat, dan pengobatan yang dapat diberikan di sekolah

Abstract

The instant drink is processed products in powder form, easily soluble in water, practical in serving, and long shelf life due to their low water content and large surface area. In the current situation, a vitamin or drink that can improve the health of the body is needed. One of the compounds that can neutralize free radicals in the body as a trigger for a disease is β-carotene which has good antioxidant properties. One of the plants that contain high β-carotene is Yellow Pumpkin. It has a high nutritional content and fine fibre; thus, it is easy to digest. The method of making the instant drink is an oven drying method. This study aims to analyze β-carotene in yellow pumpkin, which is useful as an antioxidant using the UV-VIS spectrophotometry method. The absorbance of the β-carotene standard at a wavelength of 450 nm with distilled water as a blank. β-carotene standard is prepared by dissolving 0.2 g of potassium chromate in water to a volume of 100 ml.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical services are a direct and responsible service to patients related to pharmaceutical preparations that intend to achieve definite results to improve the quality of life of patients. Patient satisfaction is an element that is often used as a benchmark in assessing the quality of service in hospitals. The purpose of this study was to find out the level of satisfaction with pharmaceutical services at the outpatient pharmacy of Sungai Dareh Hospital. Research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples analyzed as many as 120 people were taken with random sampling techniques, data collection using questionnaires and analyzed with quantitative analysis. From the results of this study, the level of patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services at the Outpatient Pharmacy of Sungai Dareh Hospital from the total of all dimensions with a percentage of 82.51%. In the dimension of direct evidence(Tangible) has the highest level of satisfaction with a percentage of 84.55%, the reliability dimension (Reliability) with a percentage of 82.70%, the responsiveness dimension with a percentage of 82.70%, the empathy dimension (Empaty) has the lowest satisfaction rate with a percentage of 79.49%, and the dimension of assurance (Assurance) with a percentage of 82.49%

Abstract

Cosmetics are used to beautify themselves with the intention of adding to their add attraction to be more liked. One of the cosmetics favored by women is lip color, such as lip cream. The application of color is very important to improve the quality of lip cream preparation. A plant that has a dye, namely red spinach (Amarantus tricolor L.) in the form of betacyanin at 0,085%. Apart from being a dye, red spinach also has antioxidant activity which can be seen at the IC50 value 29,76 µg/ml (>50 µg/ml). The purpose of this study was to determine whether the ethanol extract of red spinach leave with concentration of 5%, 10% and 15% could be formulated in lip cream preparations according to the requirements of the evaluation of the preparation (pH test, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesion, stability and irritation test) and to determine the effect of the concentration of red spinach ethanol extract in the preparation. The result showed that the lip cream preparation F0 (without extract), F1 (5%), F2 (10%) and F3 (15%) were stable and evenly dispersed during unform storage. The difference in the concentration of the ethanol extract of red spinach leaves affects the color of the preparation, namely white (F0), pink (F1), brick red (F2) and dark red (F3). The higher the concentration of the extract, the darker the color and the more acidic the pH of the preparation. In the evaluation the preparations, it was found that the pH test was according to the skin range, adhesion and spreadability met the requirements and was not irritating. The result of the preference test found that the best preparation was F2 as much as 28%.

Abstract

Arabica coffee leaves (Coffea arabica L.) are a herbal medicine used to treat hypertension, diarrhea, malaria, fever, diabetic and hypercholesterolemia. However, it is feared that the use of herbal medicines will cause side effects during pregnancy, especially defects in the fetus. This concern arises due to the lack of information regarding the side effects and toxicity of herbal medicines. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on the teratogenic effects of Arabica coffee leaf infusion (Coffea arabica L.) on test animals. This study used varying concentrations of Arabica coffee leaf infusion of 2.5%, 5%, and 10%, which were given orally during the organogenesis period of white mice (Mus Musculus) pregnancy, days 6-15 of pregnancy. On the 18th day, a laparotomy was performed, then the fetus was observed to see whether there were skeletal and external malformations. The statistical results of one-way ANOVA show that there is an abnormality in the fetus in the form of low birth weight (LBW), and the incidence of fetal death increases with each administration of a larger concentration/1 infusion. Statistical results of two-way ANOVA showed that the concentration and length of treatment significantly influenced the mother's body weight (P<0.05), while the interaction between the two had no significant effect (P>0.05). The research results show that Arabica coffee leaf infusion has the potential to have a teratogenic effect on the fetus.

Abstract

This Community Service Activity aims to provide education for the prevention of drugs, provide information about drugs, the dangers of drugs, and facilitate the prevention of drug abuse in Piai Tangah sub-district, Lubuk Begalung sub-district, Ganting Parak Gadang sub-district, Padang city in the form of counseling carried out in 3 stages during 1 month. Starting from the beginning of May until the 2nd Sunday of August 2023, the preparation stage consisting of meetings with related parties, preparation of proposals and site surveys has been carried out. The next stage is implementation, which is the main agenda, including socialization and counseling. From this service activity, it is hoped that the community and environment of Piai Tangah sub-district, Lubuk Begalung sub-district, Ganting Parak Gadang sub-district, Padang city will receive education to avoid drugs and the majority 75% of participants will understand drugs, the dangers of drugs, preventative measures and rehabilitation facilities.

Abstract

Community service activities have been carried out on the isolation and purification of pectin compounds from breadfruit peels grown in Padang City, West Sumatra Province to improve farmer commodities regarding the availability of quality pectin raw materials. This service aims to determine the effect of purification training on the quality of the pectin produced. Pectin extraction was carried out by the reflux method from dried breadfruit peels with 0.1 N HCl solvent with a pH of 1.5 and extracted for 150 minutes. The quality characteristics of breadfruit peel pectin in Padang City include an equivalent weight of 3,168.5 mg; methoxyl content of 3.26%; galacturonic acid content of 96.27%. The conclusion of this activity is that the material is suitable for the needs so that it can improve the economy of breadfruit farmers and standardize pectin as a raw material for making capsule shells. There was a positive response from the participants considering that the service activity was part of the partners' understanding of the use of pectin as a raw material. Most (60%) of participants understood the actions taken by partners to improve the quality of pectin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol daun banto (Leersia hexandra Sw.) terhadap aktivitas antiinflamasi pada tikus putih jantan yang diinduksi karagenan. Metode pembuatan ekstrak dengan maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Uji aktivitas antiinflamasi yang dilakukan menggunakan hewan uji tikus putih jantan sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok. Kelompok 1 (Kontrol positif) diberikan suspensi Na-CMC 0,5%, kelompok 2 (pembanding) diberikan natrium diklofenak, sedangkan kelompok 3, 4, dan 5 secara berturut-turut diberikan ekstrak etanol daun banto sebesar 50, 100, 200 mg/kgBB. Setelah 30 menit telapak kaki tikus diinduksi dengan karagenan.Volume radang diukur dengan menggunakan alat plestismometer yang dilakukan selama 5 jam. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan Anova (Analysis of variance) dua arah dan dilajutkan dengan Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan efek ekstrak etanol daun banto memiliki efektivitas volume radang. Dosis dan waktu berpengaruh signifikan (P<0,05) terhadap persentase volume radang. Sedangkan interaksi dosis dan waktu tidak berpengaruh signifikan (P>0,05) dengan persentase volume radang. Ekstrak etanol daun banto dapat menurunkan volume radang pada telapak kaki tikus dan efek penurunan radang ditunjukkan pada dosis 100 mg/kgBB (0,21%).

Abstract

Daun arbei (Rubus rosifolius Sm.) mengandung senyawa metabolit aktif seperti pomolic acid, tormentic acid, quercetin dan euscaphic acid yang berpotensi sebagai antihiperglikemia. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun arbei (Rubus rosifolius Sm.) dan lama pemberian terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah mencit diabetes. Sebanyak 25 ekor mencit diinduksi dengan aloksan dosis 150 mg/kg secara intraperitonial. Pemeriksaan glukosa darah dilakukan dengan metode enzimatis menggunakan glukometer. Mencit dengan kadar glukosa darah sewaktu >200 mg/dL dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol positif (Na.CMC 0,5%), pembanding (glimepirid) dan kelompok ekstrak uji dosis 100, 200 dan 400 mg/kg. Perlakuan diberikan selama 15 hari dan pengukuran kadar glukosa darah dilakukan pada hari ke 5, 10 dan 15. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan Anova Dua Arah dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan post hoc pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Pemberian ekstrak uji berpengaruh signifikan (p<0.05) terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah mencit. Semua kelompok dosis ekstrak uji memberikan efek penurunan glukosa darah yang tidak berbeda signifikan (p>0.05) dengan kelompok yang diberi glimepiride. Efek penurunan kadar glukosa darah semakin besar seiring bertambah lama waktu pemberian ekstrak uji (p<0,05), nilai penurunan terbesar ditunjukkan pada hari ke 15. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan ekstrak etanol daun arbei efektif menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dan nilai penurunannya sebanding dengan glimepirid.
