Abstract

Stroke causes several physical and psychological symptoms. Early strokescontribute to a very significant risk of recurrent attacks. If there iscognitive impairment, it can affect one of the cognitive functions such asattention. This study aims to determine the description of the level of attentionof stroke patients after experiencing repeated attacks. The method and design ofthis study were a descriptive study using frequency distribution, with a cross-sectional research approach. The samples were 67 post-stroke patients whoexperienced repeated attacks, using non-probability sampling techniques withpurposive sampling techniques based on inclusion and exclusion criteria anddata collection using the TMT (trail making test A and B) questionnaire. Theresults of this study describe that most of the respondents have less attention inthe category of 56 people (83, 6%). Factors that can affect attention are age, theolder a person gets, the worse his or her attention after a stroke is coupled withthe degenerative process experienced by stroke sufferers. Prolonged stressand psychological conditions and the inability to adapt to new conditions greatlyinterfere with the recovery process because on average stroke patients not onlyexperience sequelae after an attack but also unstable psychological conditionsthat can worsen their physical condition. Conclusions: Identification respondents'attention has a poor attention category mostly, it is necessary to carry outpreventive, curative, or rehabilitative promotive prevention in stroke patients bymodifying a healthy lifestyle to prevent recurrent attacks

Abstract

Sudden changes in a person's life after a stroke can cause various negative things in the sufferer, ranging from psychological and behavioral symptoms, including anxiety, feelings of helplessness, mood disorders, low self-efficacy, and impaired attention levels. Psychological problems cause a serious reduction in mobility, because they hinder performance and daily activities or fulfillment of ADLs. This can cause stroke patients to experience job loss and the inability to carry out their social activities. The purpose of this study is the relationship between the self-efficacy of stroke patients and the level of attention to the activity of daily living of post-stroke patients.  This study used a correlational analytic method with a Cross-Sectional approach. This research was conducted in one of the private hospitals in Bali, which was held from October 01 - December 30, 2022. With a sample size of 80 respondents of post-stroke patients who control at X Hospital Poly using the Non-probability sampling technique, purposive sampling. The results of this study were that most stroke respondents who experienced low efficacy had a total level of dependence on activity and daily living, as well as stroke who had less attention had a total level of dependence. The results of the correlation test between the two obtained a p-value <0.005 which means there is a significant relationship between efficacy and the level of ADL dependence. This can be an illustration that the psychological condition of post-stroke patients will greatly affect their physical condition. The basis of stroke treatment is of course not only optimizing physical recovery but must also be accompanied by paying attention to the psychological aspects in order to get maximum rehabilitation results.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease patients undergoing hemodialysis can cause stress to the patient. The longer the patient suffers from Chronic Kidney Disease, the more the patient has a variety of experiences with stressors due to the disease. These experiences can be used as an anticipatory effort in dealing with stressors experienced by patients. The purpose of this was the relationship between the duration of hemodialysis and the coping mechanism of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. This study used descriptive quantitative, with a correlation design and a cross-sectional approach. The sample was 111 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Sampling technique used the purposive sampling technique. The data collection instrument used a jalowiec coping scale questionnaire and length of underwent hemodialysis. The results showed that most respondents underwent hemodialysis in the category <8 months (70.3%). The coping mechanisms in most patients were categorized as adaptive (55%). It was concluded that there was a relationship between the duration of hemodialysis and the coping mechanism in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis (p = 0,000). The correlation strength value is 0.402 (moderate strength), and the direction of the correlation is negative, it shows that if the length of time is more than eight months, then the patient's coping mechanism becomes adaptive. The patient has accepted the situation he was undergoing, which is due to routine hemodialysis, which causes the patient to often meet other patients with the same problem so that by often telling each other they can share experiences and problems and encourage each other.

Environmental, socio-economic factors and limited maternal knowledge about handling diarrhea influence the high incidence rate. Objective: This study aims to describe mothers' level of knowledge about handling diarrhea in toddlers in Banjar Kampung Islam Kepaon. Methods: The research was quantitative descriptive with a purposive sampling technique and involved 115 samples. Data was collected using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents had a sufficient level of knowledge about handling diarrhea in toddlers, namely 64 respondents (55.7%), of which 57 respondents (49.6%) were 26-35 years old who worked as housewives as many as 64 respondents (55.7%), with the last education of high school/vocational school as many as 62 respondents (53.9%) and obtained information sources through health workers as many as 78 respondents (67.8%). The majority of mothers' knowledge levels were the lowest, related to the question of giving zinc according to age, dehydration condition, and time of administration, which was 37 respondents (32.17%), and the highest was related to the question of bringing toddlers to health services if diarrhea does not improve in 3 days as many as 112 respondents (97.39%). The level of maternal knowledge is quite influenced by exposure to information through health worker education programs. Conclusion: These results show the need for more targeted education-based interventions, especially zinc administration and signs of dehydration, to improve the mother's ability to manage diarrhea optimally.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of long-term disability, requiring continuous rehabilitative interventions. This community service program aimed to provide education and training on fan therapy as a non-pharmacological approach to help reduce spasticity and improve coordination in stroke survivors. The activity was conducted at the Amaranee Foundation in Bali, involving stroke survivors as participants. Initial assessments showed that the majority of participants had high blood pressure (64%) and normal blood glucose levels (71%). Before the educational session, most participants had a low level of knowledge (89.2%), but after the fan therapy education and practical demonstration, there was a significant improvement, with 64.2% reaching a moderate level and 35.8% achieving a high level of knowledge. Fan therapy was chosen for its ease of implementation, absence of side effects, and potential for independent application. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the program and were able to practice basic fan therapy techniques to reduce muscle stiffness and enhance motor coordination. This program contributed positively to community-based rehabilitation efforts, particularly for stroke survivors in need of simple yet effective approaches. Fan therapy education is considered relevant as a sustainable recovery intervention within community settings.
