Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is  characterized  by neurological deficits resulting fromacute focal injury to  the central nervous system, originating from blood vessels such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage. Stress is a known trigger for  stroke and  various  therapies are available to manage  stress. This study explores the effectiveness of a mind body therapy, specifically the HENS application on Android in reducing stress in post stroke patients.Method: The study employs a  quasi-experimental  design with a pre-test and post-test  with control group. The sampling technique in the study was  convenience sampling with a sample size of 48 post-stroke patients (24 for each intervention and control group). Data was collected using the DASS questionnaire and the HENS application. Results: The results revealed significant changes in stress levels before and after the six-day intervention with the  HENS Application. The intervention group showed a p value=0.000 indicating a significant reduction in stress levels. In contrast,  the control group’s  p value  was 0.853, suggesting  no significant change without treatment. Conclusions: The HENS application has the potential to provide post-stroke patients with independent support for managing stress. It offers clear and useful guidelines for implementing HENS techniques which can improve confidence of post stroke patients in independently managing stress.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Academic burnout syndrome, gayatri mantra, emotional freedom technique, mahasiswa keperawatanEffects of Gayatri Mantra and Emotional Freedom Technique (GEFT) on Academic Burnout Syndrome (ABS)ABSTRACTNursing students are at risk of suffering from Academic Burnout Syndrome (ABS) due to high academic demands. The condition of ABS in students may affect their academic activities. Gayatri Mantra and Emotional Freedom Technique (GEFT) are non-pharmacological therapies that utilize positive energy flows in the individual's body, but little is known about their effect on reducing ABS in students. Objective: To reveal the effects of GEFT on ABS in nursing students. Methods: This research design was a quasi-experiment with a pre-posttest design with a control group. A sample size of 16 people each in the intervention and control groups were selected through purposive sampling. The GEFT intervention was made ± 10 minutes, once a day for 6 consecutive days. Data were collected using the MBI-SS questionnaire and analyzed using Paired T-Test and Independent T-Test. Results: In the intervention and control groups during the pre-test, most respondents (56.2%) experienced severe burnout. However, 56.2% of respondents in the intervention group experienced moderate burnout at the post-test with a p-value of 0.000. 62.5% of respondents in the control group experienced severe burnout with a p-value = 0.917. Discussion: The ABS levels in nursing students change after the GEFT therapy because reciting the Gayatri Mantra is believed to help open the chakras in the human body. Chakras are located at the meridian points of the human body. Therefore, when the Gayatri Mantra is combined with EFT therapy (stimulating the body's meridian points to balance energy), it can help optimize physical and psychological health. Conclusion: It is expected that educational institutions can perform GEFT exercises on students who suffer from ABS to maintain stable conditions and improve student academic performance. Keywords: Academic burnout syndrome, gayatri mantra, emotional freedom technique, nursing students

Abstract

Background:Adolescent self-efficacy in choosing healthy foods is closely related to the incidence of obesity. According to WHO data, the obesity rate among children and adolescents increased from 18% to 19.3% between 2016 and 2021, and this rising trend is also observed in Indonesia. Understanding the factors that influence adolescents' eating habits is essential for comprehending their behavior in selecting healthy foods and designing effective interventions to promote healthier eating habits among this age group. Objective:This study aimed to determine the level of adolescent self-efficacy in choosing healthy foods and to examine the relationship between various social determinants such as gender, class, age, and parental activities and adolescent self-efficacy in selecting healthy foods. Additionally, this study tested parental activities as a moderating variable for factors significantly influencing adolescent self-efficacy in choosing healthy foods. Methods:A quantitative descriptive design was employed for this study. The population consisted of high school students, with a total of 408 respondents selected through non-probability cluster sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate regression statistical tests. Results:The findings revealed that 57.8% of respondents exhibited a moderate level of self-efficacy in choosing healthy foods, 35.5% showed a strong level of self-efficacy, and 6.6% demonstrated a low level of self-efficacy. Age was the only variable significantly influencing adolescents' ability to choose healthy foods, with a significance level of 0.039 (P < 0.05). Parental activities were not found to significantly moderate the relationship between age and the level of self-efficacy in choosing healthy foods. Conclusion:Age is a significant factor influencing adolescent self-efficacy in choosing healthy foods. However, parental activities do not significantly moderate the relationship between age and adolescent self-efficacy in food selection. Abstract

Stroke causes several physical and psychological symptoms. Early strokescontribute to a very significant risk of recurrent attacks. If there iscognitive impairment, it can affect one of the cognitive functions such asattention. This study aims to determine the description of the level of attentionof stroke patients after experiencing repeated attacks. The method and design ofthis study were a descriptive study using frequency distribution, with a cross-sectional research approach. The samples were 67 post-stroke patients whoexperienced repeated attacks, using non-probability sampling techniques withpurposive sampling techniques based on inclusion and exclusion criteria anddata collection using the TMT (trail making test A and B) questionnaire. Theresults of this study describe that most of the respondents have less attention inthe category of 56 people (83, 6%). Factors that can affect attention are age, theolder a person gets, the worse his or her attention after a stroke is coupled withthe degenerative process experienced by stroke sufferers. Prolonged stressand psychological conditions and the inability to adapt to new conditions greatlyinterfere with the recovery process because on average stroke patients not onlyexperience sequelae after an attack but also unstable psychological conditionsthat can worsen their physical condition. Conclusions: Identification respondents'attention has a poor attention category mostly, it is necessary to carry outpreventive, curative, or rehabilitative promotive prevention in stroke patients bymodifying a healthy lifestyle to prevent recurrent attacks

Abstract

Abstract Chemotherapy is one of the treatments for breast cancer patients that affects the physical, psychological, and quality of life of the patient. Patients need to have a good coping mechanism to maintain a good quality of life. Several factors that affect the quality of life of cancer patients include self-acceptance. This study aims to describe the picture of self-acceptance in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The design of this study used quantitative descriptive with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted at the Integrated Cancer Installation of the Regional General Hospital with a sample of 149 people using a purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of the study, it was found that breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy experienced moderate self-acceptance as many as 72 samples (48.3%), with the largest age range of 46-55 years (54; 36.2%), most respondents were married (148; 99.3%). most respondents were in stage III (83; 55.7%), had been diagnosed with cancer for 3-6 months (54; 36.2) and were undergoing 2-3 series of chemotherapy (54: 36.3%). The higher a person's self-acceptance, the more optimistic they are in undergoing treatment for their recovery. It is expected that nurses will use a caring approach to increase patient self-acceptance during chemotherapy and provide support to patients to remain optimistic during treatment.
