Abstract

Abstract

In accordance with the provisions and regulations in Marpol 73/78 concerning regulations for preventing marine pollution. And Marpol 73/78 Annex III regarding burning oil and waste using a Waste Oil Incinerator, requires knowledge, ability and responsibility for handling it. This world is always developing in the field of waste processing, especially those originating from ships, generally from the Engine Room, so it is better for ships to be equipped with Waste Oil Incinerator, which is a tool commonly used to burn dirty oil and other rubbish and debris on ships that can be burned. Considering its very important role on ships, the Waste Oil Incinerator is very useful and is very important equipment in efforts to prevent pollution at sea. Therefore, maintenance of the Incinerator must be carried out. With routine maintenance and repairs and in accordance with correct maintenance planning, it will provide large economic benefits for the company and participate in preserving marine ecosystems and the marine environment. However, in its implementation, errors often occur which cause a decrease in the quality of the Waste Oil Incinerator, thus damaging the marine ecosystem due to several things as follows: 1) TheWaste Oil Incinerator does not work optimally 2) Lack of maintenance of the Main Burner Incinerator on board the ship 3) Lack of maintenance on the Waste Oil Incinerator 4) Operation of the Waste Oil Incinerator not in accordance with the instructions manual.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of utilization and benefits of State-Owned Assets (SOA) on the receipts of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) and their impact on employee performance at KSOP Utama and KSOP Class I within the Directorate General of Sea Transportation. The research background is based on several issues such as suboptimal utilization of SOA, bureaucratic obstacles, lack of facilities and training for employees, as well as unstable PNBP receipts that affect employee performance. This study focuses on the period from 2020 to 2024 with a population of 2,418 civil servants and a sample of 343 respondents selected using sampling techniques based on the Taro Yamane formula. The research method used is a quantitative approach with primary data collected through questionnaires measuring respondents' perceptions regarding SOA utilization and benefits, PNBP receipts, and employee performance. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the relationships between variables both simultaneously and partially. The results show that the utilization and benefits of SOA have a direct and simultaneous positive and significant effect on PNBP receipts. Furthermore, PNBP receipts also have a positive and significant impact on employee performance. Additionally, the utilization and benefits of SOA influence employee performance both directly and indirectly through the mediation of PNBP receipts. These findings underscore the importance of effective and efficient management and utilization of SOA as a sustainable source of state revenue, while also serving as a supporting factor for improving employee performance. This study provides practical implications for the development of better SOA management policies and the enhancement of human resource capacity at KSOP Utama and KSOP Class I. The research also broadens the empirical understanding of the strategic role of SOA in supporting government institutional performance, particularly in the maritime transportation sector.

Abstract

Improving loading and unloading efficiency at container terminals is a significant challenge in the maritime industry, with idle time and berthing time at the Container Terminal being key factors influencing loading productivity and potentially causing disruptions in the supply chain and reducing customer service quality. This study aims to determine the effect of idle time and Berthing time on loading and unloading productivity at the pier of the ocean-going container terminal Surabaya (TPS) Pelindo III." The strategy in research uses associative with a quantitative approach. The target population in this study were all employees and workers at the Surabaya container terminal, with a sample of 38 respondents. The sampling technique in this study used the Slovin technique. Sampling with the Accidental Sampling approach, the researcher takes a sample of the sampling technique based on coincidence. The type of data used is quantitative. Quantitative data in this study is data sourced directly from respondents presented in the form of a Likert scale. Data collection techniques are used by distributing questionnaires or questionnaires. The data statistical method used is descriptive statistics and Partial Least Square (PLS) with the SmartPLS version 4.0 program. The results of this study are that there is a positive and significant effect of idle time on loading and unloading productivity, and there is a positive and significant effect of berthing time on loading and unloading productivity; there is a positive and significant effect simultaneously of idle time and berthing time on purchasing decisions, idle time and Berthing time significantly affects the productivity of loading and unloading.

Abstract

Sustainability is becoming a critical focus within maritime education, leadership, and workforce development as the industry adapts to evolving environmental regulations and safety imperatives. This research explores the integration of sustainability principles in maritime training programs and leadership frameworks, addressing gaps in workforce development and the application of sustainable practices. The study provides original insights by examining qualitative perspectives from maritime professionals, educators, and graduates, complementing previous research by offering empirical evidence on sustainability in vocational education. The primary objective was to investigate how sustainability is embedded within maritime education and leadership, focusing on its role in fostering safety cultures and environmental responsibility. The research employed a qualitative approach, combining systematic literature review (SLR) with interviews and questionnaires involving ten maritime stakeholders. The results indicate a strong alignment between sustainability goals and educational frameworks, with leadership emerging as a key driver of sustainable practices. While overall scores reflect significant progress, the findings highlight areas for enhancing workforce development, particularly in reinforcing environmental responsibility. The study underscores the importance of leadership in shaping sustainable organizational cultures and advocates for more comprehensive, sustainability-focused curricula in maritime vocational programs. The conclusions emphasize the need for greater collaboration between educational institutions and industry leaders to ensure cohesive progress in sustainability adoption. This research contributes to shaping a future maritime workforce that is technically proficient, environmentally conscious, and safety-driven.
