Abstract

Background: Emergency patients have a very high chance of experiencing anxiey. Anxiety occurs due to several causes, from both from internal and external factors. Some demographic factors and patients characteristics may have potential relationship with anxiety. Objective: This study aimed to identify the relationship between patient characteristics and anxiety in the emergency department (ED). Methods: A descriptive correlational and cross-sectional design were employed. The population in this study were patients in the EDs. A total of 180 convenience samples were recruited from 2 general hospitals in Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. Data were collected using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 (DASS-42) questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis (Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, and Spearman Rank) were applied to identify the relationship between variables. Results: There was a very significant relationship between the type of payment and anxiety among patients in the ED (p0,01). No significant associations were found between anxiety and other patient characteristics (p0,05). Conclusion: Patients who used national insurance have a higher level of anxiety

Abstract

Nursing students tend to overuse smartphones, and when this is combined with psychological issues, it often disrupts their sleep patterns. This study aimed to investigate the correlation of smartphone overuse, psychological problems, sleep quality, and daytime sleepiness among professional nursing students. Descriptive correlational and cross sectional design were employed. The samples were recruited using convenience sampling technique involving 110 students. The questionnaires were Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version (SAS-SV), Depression, Anxiety Stress Scale-42 (DASS-42), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS).  Pearson correlation was utilized to examine the correlation between study variables. Majority of students were addicted to smartphone (65.5%), poor sleepers (78.2%), and had excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) (54.5%). Sleep quality was negatively correlated to depression (r=-0.335, p<0.001), anxiety (r=-0.333, p<0.001), and stress (r=0.331, p<0.001). EDS had correlation with smartphone overuse (r=0.315, p=0.001), depression (r=0.252, p=0.008), anxiety (r=0.288, p=0.002), dan stress (r=0.216, p=0.024). Participants with poorer psychological problrmes were trying to manage their sleep quality to be better, even though still experienced EDS. Future studies could investigate the factors contributing to excessive smartphone use, psychological influences, and other elements impacting sleep, while also incorporating more objective methods to improve data precision.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy remains a public health problem, particularly in rural areas. Low adherence to Fe tablet consumption is a major contributing factor. This study aimed to analyze the effect of family-based education on improving hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia in the working area of the Kolongan Community Health Center. A quasi-experimental research method with a two-group pretest-posttest non-equivalent design was used. A total of 30 anemic pregnant women in the Kolongan Community Health Center area were divided into an intervention group and a control group. The intervention group received family-based education via video, e-flipcharts, and WhatsApp messages for two months, while the control group received standard antenatal care. Data were collected through questionnaires and hemoglobin tests, analyzed using paired and independent t-tests. The research results showed the intervention group had an increase in hemoglobin levels from a mean of 9.42 g/dL to 11.49 g/dL (p = 0.000), which was higher than the control group (mean 9.55 g/dL to 10.39 g/dL, p = 0.003). A test of the difference between the control and intervention groups found a significant difference (p=0.000). Conclusion the family-based education model is significant in increasing the hemoglobin levels of anemic pregnant women. It is recommended to be integrated into maternal health programs to improve the effectiveness of anemia prevention efforts. Anemia pada kehamilan masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat, terutama di daerah pedesaan. Rendahnya kepatuhan konsumsi tablet Fe merupakan faktor penyebab utama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh edukasi berbasis keluarga untuk meningkatkan kadar hemoglobin pada ibu hamil dengan anemia di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kolongan. Metode penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain two-group pretest-posttest non-equivalent. Sebanyak 30 ibu hamil anemia di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kolongan dibagi menjadi kelompok intervensi dan kontrol. Kelompok intervensi menerima edukasi berbasis keluarga melalui video, e-flipchart, dan pesan WhatsApp selama dua bulan, sedangkan kelompok kontrol menerima pelayanan antenatal standar. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan pemeriksaan hemoglobin, dianalisis menggunakan uji t berpasangan dan independen. Hasil peneltian menunjukkan kelompok intervensi menunjukkan peningkatan kadar hemoglobin dari rerata 9,42 g/dL menjadi 11,49 g/dL (p = 0,000), lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (rerata 9,55 g/dL menjadi 10,39 g/dL, p = 0,003). Uji beda kelompok kontrol dan intervensi didapati ada perbedaan p=0,000, Kesimpulan model edukasi berbasis keluarga signifikan dalam meningkatkan kadar hemoglobin ibu hamil anemia. Direkomendasikan untuk diintegrasikan dalam program kesehatan ibu untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penanggulangan anemia.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of lifestyle-related health issues highlights the necessity for innovative solutions to promote healthier habits. This study aims to design a better and more suitable user interface (UI) for the user experience (UX) of a mobile calorie deficit application using the Design Thinking method. The primary objective is to create a user-centric UI design that enhances user engagement and supports weight management goals. Through a comprehensive Design Thinking process, which includes empathizing with users, defining problems, ideating solutions, prototyping, and testing, we developed a UI design tailored to the needs of individuals seeking to manage their calorie intake effectively. The testing phase involved two scenarios. The first scenario achieved a miss click rate of 0-9% and a usability score ranging from 91 to 100. User feedback was continuously integrated to refine the design, ensuring usability and functionality. The results demonstrate that the well-structured UI design effectively improves user satisfaction and interaction. This research underscores the value of Design Thinking in developing user-centered interfaces for health management applications.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Everyone, especially women, is very concerned about their body shape. Wrong descriptions about the body can cause body image problem, which they tend to experience changes in negative behavior. Diet is an activity that is often used as an alternative to rebuild the body image. The teenagers tried to change their diet so the body more beautiful without thinking about the disadventage from nutrition insufficient. This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and diet in nursing students at Universitas Klabat. The research method used is descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach. 128 respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The Multidimensional Body Self Relation Questionnaire – Appearance Scales (MBRSQ-AS) and dietary pattern questionnaire were used in data collection. The results showed that a total of 128 respondents were studied, and the majority of the respondents namely 94 female students (73.4%) had a positive body image and 123 female students (96.1%) had a good diet. Furthermore, the results found that after Pearson Correlation analysis regarding the relationship between body image and diet was done, there was a value of p = 0.000; r = 0.360. There is a significant relationship between body image and diet in Nursing Student at Klabat University. The relationship is weak and unidirectional, where the more positive the body image of the respondents, the better their diet. It is recommended for the students to be able to maintain a good perception of body image so that their diet will be maintained properly and spread from health problems. Keywords: Body Image, Diet, StudentsABSTRAK Setiap individu khususnya wanita sangat memperhatikan bentuk tubuh mereka. Deskripsi yang salah tentang tubuh dapat menyebabkan masalah pada body image sehingga cenderung mengalami perubahan perilaku kearah yang negative. Pola makan merupakan kegiatan yang sering menjadi alternatif dalam memperbaiki body image yang rusak. Para remaja beranggapan bahwa dengan merubah pola makan tubuh akan terlihat indah tanpa memikirkan kekurangan yang akan ditimbulkan apabilah tubuh tidak memiliki nutrisi yang cukup. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara body image dengan pola makan pada mahasiswi keperawatan Universitas Klabat.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah descriptive correlation dengan pendekatan cross sectional. 128 responden telah dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Kuesioner Multidimentional Body Self Relation Quesioner – Appearance Scales (MBRSQ-AS) dan kuesioner pola makan telah digunakan dalam pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 128 responden yang diteliti, sebagian besar responden yaitu 94 mahasiswi (73,4%) memiliki body image positif dan 123 mahasisi (96,1%) memiliki pola makan yang baik. Lebih lanjut, hasil uji statistik Pearson Correlation mengenai hubungan antara body image dan pola makan menemukan hasil dengan nilai p = 0,000; r = 0,360. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara body image dengan pola makan pada Mahasiswi Keperawatan Universitas Klabat. Hubungan bersifat lemah dan searah, dimana semakin positif body image responden maka akan semakin baik pola makan mereka. Direkomendasikan bagi para mahasiswi agar dapat mempertahankan persepsi yang baik tentang body image sehingga pola makan akan terjaga dengan baik dan terhindar dari gangguan kesehatan. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya dapat melakukan penelitian mengenai faktor lain yang dapat mempengaruhi pola makan seperti aktivitas fisik, stres dan sosial ekonomi. Kata Kunci: Body Image, Pola Makan, Mahasiswi

Abstract

Poor sleep quality among university students is often associated with academic stress, lifestyle habits, and irregular routines, which may influence blood pressure (BP). This study aimed to examine the relationship between sleep quality and BP in Indonesian university students. A descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 207 students at a private university in North Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and BP was measured with an aneroid sphygmomanometer. Data analysis included descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation. The mean sleep quality score was 8.50 (SD=3.51) and 84.1% of participants were classified as having poor sleep quality. The mean systolic and diastolic BP were 107.76 mmHg (SD=13.61) and 75.91 mmHg (SD=11.91), respectively. A significant but weak negative correlation was observed between sleep quality and systolic BP (r=-0.191, p=0.006). While these findings differ from much of the global evidence linking poor sleep to higher BP, they highlight the complexity of sleep-BP interactions in young and healthy populations. These findings emphasize the importance of promoting better sleep hygiene, healthier lifestyle behaviors, and cardiovascular health strategies within university settings.

Abstract

Background: Stress is common among nursing students, especially those in their final year. If it is not handled properly, in the long term it will disrupt physical health and the clinical learning process will be hampered. This condition is exacerbated by the pandemic situation which increases the risk of students contracting infectious diseases during clinical practice. Various factors are also potentially related to nursing students' coping strategies.Purpose: To examine the correlation between stress and nursing students' coping strategies during the Covid-19 pandemic, along with the factors related to it.Method: A descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach was used in this study involving 104 nursing students. The measuring instruments used are Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-42 (DASS-42) and Coping Strategies Inventory-Short Form (CSI-SF). Statistical tests use Independent T-Test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation.Results: There was a difference in the average score of the coping strategy component involvement (t=-3.01; p=0.01) and disinvolvement (t=-0.26; p=0.01) based on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). There was a difference in scores for the components of engagement coping strategies based on knowledge and prevention about Covid-19 (t=-2.45; p=0.02). There was a significant correlation between age and disengagement (r=-0.32; p<0.01) and emotion-focused disengagement (r=-0.41; p<0.001). Stress was significantly correlated with the emotion-focused component of disengagement (r=0.33; p<0.01).Conclusion: Students who are older, who use PPE have sufficient knowledge and prevention regarding Covid-19, and who experience more severe stress tend to use better coping strategies.Suggestion: Students should be able to manage stress and use positive coping strategies. Assessment of the student's psychological condition can be considered to continue during the study. Future research can develop interventions for the use of appropriate coping strategies in nursing students. Keywords: Coping Strategy; Nursing Students; Subjective Stress. Pendahuluan: Stres umum didapati pada mahasiswa keperawatan, khususnya yang berada di tahun terakhir. Apabila tidak tertangani dengan baik, dalam jangka panjang maka akan mengganggu kesehatan fisik dan proses pembelajaran klinik menjadi terhambat. Kondisi ini diperparah dengan keadaan pandemi yang meningkatan resiko mahasiswa tertular penyakit infeksius selama praktik klinik. Berbagai faktor juga berpotensi berhubungan dengan strategi koping mahasiswa keperawatan.Tujuan: Untuk menguji korelasi antara stres dan strategi koping mahasiswa keperawatan di masa pandemi Covid-19, beserta faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengannya.Metode: Desain deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional digunakan dalam penelitian ini yang melibatkan 104 mahasiswa keperawatan. Alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu Depression Anxiety Stres Scale-42 (DASS-42) dan Coping Strategies Inventory-Short Form (CSI-SF). Uji statistik menggunakan Independent T-Test, One-way ANOVA, serta Korelasi Pearson.Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan skor rata-rata komponen strategi koping keterlibatan (t=-3.01; p=0.01) dan ketidakterlibatan (t=-0.26; p=0.01) berdasarkan penggunaan alat pelindung diri (APD). Ada perbedaan skor komponen strategi koping keterlibatan berdasarkan pengetahuan dan pencegahan tentang Covid-19 (t=-2.45; p=0.02). Ada korelasi yang signifikan antara umur dengan ketidakterlibatan (r=-0.32; p<0.01) dan ketidakterlibatan berfokus emosi (r=-0.41; p<0.001). Stres berkorelasi signifikan dengan komponen ketidakterlibatan berfokus emosi (r=0.33; p<0.01).Simpulan: Mahasiswa yang berusia lebih tua, pengguna APD memiliki pengetahuan dan pencegahan terkait Covid-19 yang cukup, serta mengalami stres yang lebih parah cenderung menggunakan strategi koping yang lebih baik.Saran: Mahasiswa agar dapat mengelola stres dan menggunakan strategi koping yang positif. Pengkajian terhadap kondisi psikologis mahasiswa dapat dipertimbangkan untuk terus dilakukan selama studi. Penelitian selanjutnya dapat mengembangkan intervensi terhadap penggunaan strategi koping yang tepat pada mahasiswa keperawatan.Kata Kunci: Mahasiswa Keperawatan; Strategi Koping; Stres Subjektif.
