Abstract

Writing is a visual depiction of thoughts, feelings, and ideas using the written language for communication purposes or conveying certain messages. Having the ability to write, of course, allows humans to communicate ideas, appreciation, and experiences to others. Writing skill is possessed through intensive training and guidance which must be trained continuously to gain excellent writing skill. This study explores EFL learners’ writing ability in actualizing their skill in writing a descriptive paragraph. The study revealed that EFL learners’ writing ability is under expected skill. Therefore, this study implies that intensive improvement programs should be conducted by the educational institution to maximize learners’ writing skills

Abstract

Education is one of the most fundamental needs for humans. It helps individuals improve by enhancing their skills as they learn new things. Many lessons can be taught to the people of Indonesia, from basic education to higher education levels (Tamrin & Yanti, 2019). In the Indonesian language, four skills must be mastered: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These skills can be categorized into two activities: productive and receptive. Reading and writing are considered productive activities while listening and speaking are receptive activities. In Beringkit BelayuIndonesian Village, there are two elementary schools: SDN 2 Beringkit Belayu and SDN 2 Beringkit Belayu. The authors conducted teaching activities at SDN 2 Beringkit Belayu during this community service activity. Based on our observations at the school, we found that some students have certain skill deficiencies. Specifically, some students struggle with reading and writing, as well as one student who has difficulty focusing and paying attention during lessons. To address these issues, we implemented a teaching method aimed at enhancing and nurturing the student's interests and talents in writing. This community service activity is expected to help students who are facing these challenges. We hope that it will not only improve their skills but also change their perspective on learning, leading to better focus and direction in their studies

Abstract

The current pandemic has caused a change in the learning system in Indonesia to be centered on online learning. Students, teachers, and parents are forced to be able to carry out online learning. Learning media can generate critical thinking processes and learning creativity, considering the many gaps in the learning process. Google Classroom learning media based on the concept of "Tat Twam Asi" is a solution to the learning process. This research aims to develop Google Classroom learning media based on the "Tat Twam Asi" concept to help implement learning during a pandemic. This type of research is developed using the ADDIE model. Media experts conducted design trials (expert validation). Group trials were conducted on teachers and students. The methods used to collect data are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The instrument used in collecting data is a questionnaire. Qualitative data analysis was used in this study. The research results are the validation results of media experts at 4.58 with the appropriate/very good category. Trials conducted on groups of teachers show that Google Classroom learning media is decent/good (4.3). Tests on groups of students show that Google Classroom media is in the proper/very good category (4.51). It was concluded that Google Classroom learning media is suitable for learning.

Abstract

Developing speaking skills is the most important element for students in learning a language. However, students face various challenges in perfecting their speaking skills, especially lack of self-confidence. This study uses ex-post facto research with correlation methodology to determine the significant relationship between second semester students' self-confidence and speaking skills. The research sample was second semester Indonesian language and literature study program students selected using a cluster sampling approach plus a lottery system. Data were obtained using research instruments in the form of questionnaires and tests to measure speaking skills. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the data analysis showed that the correlation coefficient of 0.93 indicated that the data was more than 0.05 and had a very good correlation. In other words, the research findings indicate a significant relationship between second semester students' self-confidence and their speaking skills

Abstract

Penokohan tidak hanya berfungsi menghadirkan pelaku cerita, tetapi juga merefleksikan berbagai dimensi kehidupan manusia, baik fisiologis, psikologis, maupun sosiologis. Cerpen Istri Sempurna karya Aveus Har mengangkat kehidupan rumah tangga tokoh “aku”, seorang pria yang menikah dengan sebuah gynoid (robot). Tokoh aku digambarkan sebagai individu dengan kecenderungan terhadap konsumsi alkohol dan kehidupan yang monoton. Transformasi karakter terjadi setelah ia menikah dengan sosok istri yang berupa robot. Ia menjadi lebih ceria dan bersemangat. Perubahan bersifat sementara, karena ia menganggap istrinya terlalu sempurna sehingga tidak mampu memenuhi kebutuhan emosionalnya secara utuh. Sementara itu, karakter istri digambarkan memiliki sifat menyerupai manusia, seperti bercanda dan menyukai kebersihan. Teknik pelukisan tokoh menggunakan teknik uraian sehingga memudahkan pembaca dalam memahami karakter masing-masing tokoh secara komprehensif

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dengan metode demonstrasi. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode observasi dan metode tes untuk mengamati kemampuan berbicara siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, PTK ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus yang menunjukan bahwa metode demonstrasi dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari rata-rata hasil kemampuan berbicara siswa pada tes pra siklus sebesar 4,94 dengan kategori kurang, siklus I sebesar 5,76 dengan kategori hampir cukup, dalam penerapan metode demonstrasi pada pra siklus dan siklus I masih terdapat kelemahan yang terjadi pada proses pembelajaran yaitu siswa kurang serius dalam membaca teks yang diberikan, jawaban siswa tidak sesuai dengan isi teks, adapun alternatife solusi yang diberikan yaitu dengan menciptakan suasana yang menyenangkan. Berdasarkan solusi tersebut, terjadi penigkatan sebesar 1,03 sehingga pada siklus II nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh siswa sebesar 6,79 dengan kategori cukup. Dengan memberikan motivasi yang lebih baik, maka kelemahan yang terjadi pada setiap siklus dapat diatasi dengan baik, sehingga pada siklus III terjadi peningkatan sebesar 1,47 sehingga nilai rata-rata siswa mencapai 8,26 dengan kategori baik

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang berjudul Peningkatan Kemampuan Penggunaan Kalimat Efektif Dalam Karangan Deskriptif Melalui Metode Latihan Pada Siswa Kelas VII SMPN 5 Amlapura. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan secara bertahap atau multisiklus dengan menggunakan prosedur yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan (tindakan), evaluasi (observasi), dan refleksi. Dalam setiap siklus terdapat empat tahap yaitu: (1) merencanakan, (2) tindakan atau pelaksanakan, (3) observasi, (4) refleksi. Untuk memperoleh data yang obyektif tentang Peningkatan Kemampuan Penggunaan Kalimat Efektif Dalam Karangan Deskripsi Melalui Metode Latihan,digunakan metode observasi dan metode tes atau penugasan. Metode yang digunakan peneliti untuk menganalisis data tersebut adalah metode analisis deskriptif kuantitatif yaitu analisis yang dilakukan terus-menerus. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan metode latihan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa menggunakan kalimat efektif dalam karangan deskripsi. Penelitian ini berimplikasi bahwa guru bahasa Indonesia hendaknya sering melatih kemampuan menggunakan kalimat efektif pada siswa khususnya dalam membuat karangan, dan dalam proses pembelajaran, guru perlu menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang disesuaikan dengan karasteristik materi dan mata pelajaran.
