Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Every manufacturing company must maintain product quality to meet established standards. PT Surya Gemilang Engineering is a company that manufactures various machine components, of which one is DR 58 product. While the production is ongoing, several defects were found that affected the product’s quality. This study is conducted to examine the quality control of DR 58 by applying Statistical Quality Control (SQC). There are nine types of defects identified, namely: under flange thickness, over flange thickness, scratches, not machined, through holes, blind holes, excessive groove depth, oversized dimensions, and undersized dimensions. The analytical tools used The tools applied consist of the Control Chart, Cause-and-Effect Diagram, Scatter Diagram, Histogram, Check Sheet, and Pareto Diagram. The findings reveal that the main sources of defects come from environmental, method, machine, human, and material factors. The recommended improvements include regular operator training, scheduled machine maintenance, adjustment of work methods, proper material selection, and better workplace environmental conditions. The application of SQC methods helps the company objectively identify defect sources and formulate appropriate corrective actions, thus improving the quality of DR 58 products in a sustainable manner. Abstract

Quality control in the packaging process plays a vital role in the food industry to ensure that products meet established standards. Inaccurate weighing during packaging can lead to product inconsistency, increased waste, and reduced customer trust. This study aims to evaluate the accuracy and process capability of two packaging machines on the Consumer Pack (CP) Line 2 at PT ISM Bogasari Flour Mills using the Sixpack Report statistical approach through Minitab 22.1 software. Data were collected by direct sampling of 1,000-gram wheat flour products over three days with two speed variations (55 and 60 packs per minute). The results show that all combinations of machines and speeds had Cp, Cpk, Pp, and Ppk values below 1, indicating that the processes were not capable. Machine X recorded the highest defect rate of 36%, while Machine Y showed more stable performance but still below the industry standard. Based on Ishikawa diagram analysis, four main factors contributing to inaccuracy were identified: operator, machine, method, and material. The study concludes that improvements in operator training, machine maintenance, and shift standardization are necessary to enhance process stability and packaging quality. Abstract

Incoming material quality is a critical factor affecting production continuity and final product quality. Nonconforming materials may increase rejection rates, raise production costs, and reduce operational efficiency. This study aims to identify the quality condition of incoming materials, determine the dominant defect type, and analyze the factors contributing to the occurrence of dominant defects in the Incoming Quality Control (IQC) department of PT. X. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using NG Rate analysis, Pareto Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) supported by a Fishbone Diagram. The research data were obtained from the Daily IQC Performance Report and Summary IPRR & IQC Claim Report for January 2026. The results revealed that Vendor MT recorded the highest rejection frequency and NG Rate. Pareto Analysis identified flash defects as the dominant defect category, contributing 26.43% of total defects, while the six most frequent defect types accounted for 80.07% of all incoming material nonconformities. Furthermore, RCA results indicated that flash defects were potentially influenced by material, machine, method, and human factors. The findings demonstrate that the integration of Pareto Analysis and RCA effectively supports the identification of critical quality problems and their potential causes, thereby enhancing quality control effectiveness and supplier performance evaluation.
