Abstract

The chassis is an important component car which functions to support the load on the vehicle and has a strong construction. The chassis, as the main support for all vehicle componentsy. Increased fuel use and rising global crude oil prices have encouraged research into energy saving cars with special designs that can reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. The design process with variations in rollbar shape and variations in cross sectional shape with 6061 aluminum material using Autodesk Inventor 2024 software. After the design process is complete, stress analysis test stage is carried out to obtain analysis data, namely von misses stress, strain, displacement, safety factor. The results of the chassis design using concept B with a pipe cross-sectional shape and rollbar fillet model are more recommended, because it has better von Mises stress value and a better safety factor, besides that the concept B chassis design is easier in the assembly process with prototype type energy efficient car body.

Abstract

This research explores Underwater Friction Stir Welding (UFSW) on AA6005-T6 material, focusing on identifying optimal process parameters to enhance joint quality in terms of macrostructure, tensile strength, impact strength, and hardness. The results from UFSW welding of AA6005-T6 indicate that optimal process parameters yield better joint quality. The macrostructure of specimens with optimal parameters, such as spc 7, demonstrates improved homogeneity and minimal defects. The highest tensile strength and impact strength were achieved in this specimen, with a tensile strength of 117.7 MPa and an impact strength of 0.944 joule/mm², compared to other specimens. Meanwhile, the hardness of the welded joints, which is lower than the base metal, reflects the influence of process parameters on the microstructure of the joints. Overall, these results underscore the importance of precise parameter control to achieve high-quality welds. This research provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of process parameters in producing high-quality joints in underwater welding environments and highlights the potential of UFSW as an innovative method for underwater welding.

Abstract

Diesel engined vehicles are one of the biggest causes of air pollution. Exhaust emissions will continue to increase along with the growth in the number of motorized vehicles, especially for commercial vehicles. The main purpose of this study is to determine the quality of fuel can affect the level of smoke density in diesel engines. This research was conducted by testing sampling on a motor vehicle that is commonly used by the public, namely the Mitsubishi L300 in 2007 production using a Smoke Tester. The test mechanism utilizes different fuel variables, namely: Bio Solar with Additive Substances, Solar Dexlite and Pertamina Dex. From the test results, the highest smoke density value was achieved on Bio Solar fuel with additives at 4200 rpm engine speed with a value of 34.1%. Abstract

In the automotive world, rapid advancements in motorized vehicle technology necessitate consumers to be selective in vehicle choice. This study examines the performance of motorcycles using modified racing rollers versus standard factory rollers. Focusing on a 150cc matic motorcycle, we analyzed power and torque outputs using rollers of different masses (11g, 16g, and standard 15.5g). Field studies and literature reviews were conducted, employing tools like dynotests to measure performance at RPM ranges from 4,700 to 9,500. Results indicate that the 16g roller achieved the highest torque of 12.45 N/m at 6,800 RPM, while the 11g roller attained 12.09 N/m at 67,300 RPM. The standard 15.5g roller reached 12.07 N/m at 76,400 RPM. This research highlights the impact of roller mass on motorcycle performance, providing valuable insights for enhancing vehicle efficiency and consumer choice. Highlight: 16g roller achieves highest torque of 12.45 N/m at 6,800 RPM. 11g roller reaches torque of 12.09 N/m at 67,300 RPM. Standard 15.5g roller attains 12.07 N/m at 76,400 RPM. Abstract

People's consumption of household electronic devices is increasing, leading to higher energy demand in Indonesia, with washing machines being a significant contributor. This study explores repurposing used washing machine dynamos into electricity generators for windmills. Researchers used an LG washing machine dynamo and N52 neo super magnets, testing pulley diameters of 12 cm, 15 cm, 18 cm, and 20 cm. Results showed that larger pulleys increased generator output, with a 20 cm pulley producing 26 volts, 1.3 amperes, and 2525 rpm. However, the efficiency was low at 8.69%, indicating a need for further optimization. This approach has potential for sustainable energy solutions and reducing electronic waste. Highlight: Repurpose Dynamos: Converts washing machines to windmill generators, reducing electronic waste. Efficiency Challenge: Larger pulleys improve output but efficiency is only 8.69%. Sustainable Impact: Offers potential for sustainable energy and lower household consumption. Abstract

Underwater Friction Stir Welding (UFSW) is a solid state welding process that is able to unite materials with water that are relatively difficult to weld using fusion welding. Additionally, this process is very energy efficient and friendly compared to fusion welding. While there are several advantages of UFSW over fusion welding, the thermal cycling involved in UFSW can cause softening of the joint, especially in Heat Treatable Aluminum Alloys (HTTA), in this case the material AA6005-T6. This is caused by the dissolution or acidification of reinforcing deposits during the welding process, which ultimately results in a decrease in the mechanical properties of the joint. UFSW can be the process of choice to overcome these limitations. This process is suitable for alloys that are sensitive to heating during welding and is widely used for HTTA. The aim of this article is to provide a comprehensive literature review regarding the current status and development of UFSW and its importance compared to WPS with the aim of discussing and summarizing various aspects of UFSW. Special attention is paid to basic principles including material flow, generation temperature, process parameters, microstructure and mechanical properties. The research results showed that the highest impact value in specimen 2 was 0.944 Joules/mm2 compared to the base metal with an impact value of 0.641 Joules/mm². Micro tests on fine grains in the weld nugget (WN) area clearly show differences with a denser structure compared to the thermo-mechanically affected zone (TMAZ) which is the tool edge area or what is usually called plastic deformation in the UFSW process, which can cause zones the weld becomes stronger than in the base metal (BM) area.
