Abstract

This study aims to identify the main factors in the selection of majors in college. There were 1283 participants consisting of first, second, and third year students from various universities in Indonesia, both public and private. The research approach was non-experimental quantitative using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that almost 30% of students felt that they chose the wrong major. Those who felt they chose the wrong major had lower knowledge domain (μ = 42.67; t = 20.376, p < 0.05) and help-seeking behavior (μ = 47.89; t = 5.336, p < 0.05) compared to those who felt they chose the right major. Based on the type of university, 274 students from public universities (72.29%) and 105 students from private universities (27.71%). The conclusion was that students who felt they had the wrong major did not have adequate Self Knowledge and Occupational Knowledge. Their need to seek help has not been accompanied by sufficient knowledge about themselves and their intended careers, hence students need to be proactive in gaining knowledge from credible sources. This study mapped the factors that influenced major selection and thus guidance on major selection since high school should be considered.

Abstract

Technological developments make it easier for humans to network widely through social media such as Instagram. Active Instagram users in Indonesia are dominated by teenagers. The existence of social media allows cyberbullying to occur, which is an act of bullying via the internet that can trigger victims to blame themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cyberbullying on adolescents who experience self-blaming via Instagram. The method used in this study is quantitative with a non-experimental regression approach. The data collection technique was carried out using an instrument in the form of a Likert scale, while the data collection method was through a questionnaire filled out via the Google form. Participants in this study were young Instagram users aged 18-22 years. Based on the results of the simple regression test that has been carried out by researchers, it can be concluded that cyberbullying has a significant effect on self-blaming. After conducting this research, it is hoped that further researchers can intervene through education on social media such as distributing e-flyers related to cyberbullying behavior so that they can suppress cyberbullying actions that occur on social media.

Abstract

This study explores the perceptions of PAUD teachers in Lebak, Banten, about critical thinking skills in learning for children aged 4-6 years, learning strategies, and challenges faced. A descriptive quantitative approach was used with an open-ended questionnaire filled out by 131 teachers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with presentation in the form of visual graphs. The results showed that teachers' understanding of critical thinking indicators varied, with 39.6% understanding critical thinking more as the ability to analyze, 14.4% as interpretation, 12.6% as evaluation, 8.2% as inference, 5.4% as explanation, and 4.5% as self-regulation. Teachers emphasized analysis and interpretation through interactive methods, while evaluation and inference were less applied. The novelty of this study lies in the mapping of teachers' understanding based on critical thinking indicators and their impact on learning strategies. Recommendations for training based on direct practice and reflection to improve the implementation of critical thinking evenly are contributions to the research results as well as being the basis for improving policies and developing teacher training in areas with low HDI.

Abstract

Organizational commitment is an important factor in determining whether someone will be actively involved in carrying out their work duties and also helps determine the achievement of the organization. However, not all employees of the organization have high organizational commitment, including administrative staff at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD). This study aims to see the organizational commitment influenced by the career plateau and work ethic of administrative staff at one of the RSUDs in the Jakarta area. This study uses a quantitative approach with 62 participants (n = 62) and data analysis techniques using mediator regression analysis. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire accessed via the google form link. This study was conducted at one of the RSUDs in the Jakarta area. The results of the analysis show that work ethic has a more dominant direct effect on the organizational commitment of administrative staff at the RSUD (β = .271), rather than its indirect effect through career plateau (β = .089). This shows that work ethic has a more consistent impact on the loyalty of administrative staff at the RSUD.
