Abstract

Increasingly sophisticated technology never desires and even further encourages human curiosity. One of the influences of technology that cannot be separated from life is social media. When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, the TikTok application was present in the midst of society to accompany people when people were forced to stay at home. Therefore, researchers want to find out how the influence of TikTok application users for the people of Pasar Merah Timur.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the tradition of reciting the Qur'an at a funeral as a manifestation of the concept of the Living Qur'an in the socio-cultural context of the Bireuen community in Aceh. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and visual documentation. The research findings show that this tradition is not only understood as a form of respect for the deceased but also as a means to strengthen social solidarity, reinforce Islamic identity, and embody the actualization of Qur'anic values, such as amal jariyah and ukhuwah. However, in the last decade, this tradition has faced challenges from reformist groups who criticize it as a form of heresy, as well as the dynamics of the younger generation who have begun to reinterpret its meaning within the framework of purifying religious teachings. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA)-based analysis shows that completing the Qur'an at a funeral expands the realm of the Living Qur'an into the event of death, showing a close relationship between the sacred text, social practices, and the life experiences of the local Muslim community. This study provides a new contribution to enrich the discourse of the Living Qur'an by emphasizing the importance of understanding Qur'anic practices within the framework of contemporary culture and social change

Abstract

This study aims to examine the historical trajectory and socio-cultural influence of the Kualuh Sultanate in Tanjung Pasir Village, North Labuhanbatu Regency, during the period of 1829–1937. Employing a historical method within a social history framework, the research draws on data collected through interviews, direct observations, and analysis of both primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that the Kualuh Sultanate had a significant historical connection with the Sultanate of Asahan and played a crucial role in the spread of Islam, the construction of religious institutions such as mosques, and the formation of local identity among the surrounding communities. One of the most prominent legacies is the Grand Mosque of Alhadji Muhammad Syah, which serves as a lasting symbol of the sultanate's cultural and religious influence. This research underscores the importance of preserving local historical heritage and highlights its contribution to a broader understanding of regional history in North Sumatra.

Abstract

Religious radicalism is a serious challenge faced by Indonesian society, especially in the digital era when social media has become a massive and rapid means for the spread of extremist ideologies. One of the main factors contributing to the spread of radicalism is a narrow and literal understanding of religion, often neglecting historical and social contexts. This study aims to analyze the interpretation of Surah An-Nisa verse 171 as an effort to prevent radicalism through social media, focusing on Ustadz Adi Hidayats YouTube channel. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, where primary data is obtained from Ustadz Adi Hidayats YouTube content discussing Surah An-Nisa verse 171 and radicalism issues, supported by secondary data from classical and contemporary tafsir literature and previous studies. The results show that Ustadz Adi Hidayat emphasizes the importance of wasathiyah (moderation) in religious practice, rejects ghuluw (excessiveness), and encourages Muslims to understand religious teachings contextually and rationally. Through systematic and interactive delivery on social media, his dawah effectively builds moderate religious literacy and prevents the spread of radical ideologies, especially among the younger generation. This study recommends strengthening moderate tafsir literacy in digital spaces as a preventive strategy against religious radicalism.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertolak dari pentingnya shalat sebagai fondasi utama dalam kehidupan spiritual dan sosial umat Islam. Q.S. Al-Ma’un ayat 4–7 menjadi fokus karena ayat ini menyoroti pentingnya ketulusan dalam ibadah serta implikasinya terhadap kepedulian sosial. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji pemahaman terhadap ayat tersebut serta implementasinya dalam kehidupan masyarakat Desa Siparepare, Kabupaten Batubara. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode lapangan (field research) dan bersifat deskriptif-analitis, guna menggali pemaknaan dan pengamalan nilai-nilai shalat secara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat memiliki pemahaman yang beragam terhadap kandungan ayat Q.S. Al-Ma’un 4–7. Secara umum, mereka menyadari keterkaitan antara shalat dan perilaku sosial, namun belum sepenuhnya mampu menginternalisasi nilai-nilai tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Faktor-faktor seperti pemahaman agama yang terbatas, kelelahan fisik, pengaruh lingkungan, dan budaya individualisme menjadi penghambat dalam penerapan nilai-nilai shalat secara utuh. Meskipun pemaknaan terhadap shalat telah mulai berkembang ke arah yang lebih holistik, masih dibutuhkan penguatan melalui pendidikan agama yang kontekstual, peran aktif tokoh agama, dan dukungan komunitas agar nilai-nilai shalat dapat diimplementasikan dalam bentuk kepedulian sosial yang nyata

Abstract

Penerapan strategi komunikasi lingkungan Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dalam penanganan limbah pada pabrik kelapa sawit di Labuhanbatu Utara menjadi tujuan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Utara. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (SDGs) khususnya teori pembangunan berkelanjutan terhadap lingkungan hidup dan teori komunikasi lingkungan dalam pelestarian lingkungan hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan tinjauan pustaka. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana dinas lingkungan hidup menjalankan strategi komunikasinya, dengan fokus pada penggunaan media publik dan penjangkauan internal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa saja strategi majelis dakwah Al-Jamiyatul Washliyah Sumatera Utara dalam mengembangkan AW Channel dan faktor hambatan beserta faktor pendukung AW Channel.AW Channel adalah majelis dakwah Al-Jamiyatul Washliyah Sumatera Utara sebagai dakwah digital yang menggunakan media baru.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus.Studi kasus deskriftif sebagai prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis atau lisan dari orang-orang .Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang di lakukan pada penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi majelis dakwah Al-Jamiyatul Washliyah Sumatera Utara dengan fasilitas yang memadai dan promosi yang dilakukan menggunakan media baru berupa facebook dan youtube.Hambatan-hambatan yang di hadapi berkaitan dengan tekniks yaitu jaringan eror ketika live streaming dan faktor pendukungnya adalah fasilitas yang yang cukup dan SDM yang ada.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of the Museum Perjuangan TNI in caring for the relics of the struggle of the Indonesian independence fighters in Medan and its surroundings. This article uses a historical research method with five steps, namely: topic selection, source collection, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography, with a qualitative approach. The main focus of this article is that the author wants to see the history of the establishment of the Museum Perjuangan TNI and the role it has in storing and caring for historical objects used by the fighters in Medan. Before becoming a museum, the building belonged to a Dutch insurance company named NV Levensverzekering Maatschappij Arnhem. After the Dutch surrender to Japan, the building was later converted into the headquarters of the Japanese army (Kementai). After being controlled by the Indonesians, this building was used as the office of the Commander of the Military Command (Pangdam) I-III. However, since October 5, 1996, this building was inaugurated as the TNI Struggle Museum by the Commander of the I/BB Regional Military Command, Major General (Mayjend). Sedaryanto. Currently the Museum Perjuangan TNI is located at Jalan KH. Zainul Arifin No. 8, Central Petisah Village, Medan City, North Sumatra Province. This museum acts as a place for education, tourism, and collective memory storage of the freedom fighters in Medan and its surroundings.

Abstract

This article aims to make an inventory of ancient tombs in the city of Medan, especially those scattered around Neighborhoods III and V, Martubung Village, Medan Labuhan District. The strategic position of Medan City causes this region to have diversity in terms of culture and others. No exception, the typology of ancient tombs in this region is also influenced by various countries that have come into contact with this region, one of which is Aceh. This research is included in the type of field research using historical research methods. The results of this study indicate that: 1) the number of ancient tombs identified in Martubung Village are five tombs, namely: the tombs of Datuk Tongah, Datuk Payung, Datuk Hasan, Datuk Hitam and Datuk Dadih. However, only two tombs still leave historical traces in the form of tombstones, namely the tomb of Datuk Tongah and the tomb of Datuk Payung; 2) The condition of the ancient tombs in Martubung Village is currently very worrying because there are only two tombs left with cracked headstones on the body and head of the headstone; and 3) efforts to maintain ancient tombs in Martubung Village are only carried out by the surrounding community in a makeshift way without government intervention.

Abstract

This article discusses the history and role of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) in coloring the intellectual life of students in Medan City. This study uses historical research methods with five stages, namely topic selection, source collection, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography, with a social approach. In this article, the focus of the problem that the author wants to examine is related to the history and role of IMM in Medan City. The result of this study is that the author succeeded in explaining the history and presence of IMM in Medan City. In addition, the author also succeeded in finding that IMM Medan City played a role in coloring the intellectual traditions of students in Medan City, especially Islamic students. IMM Medan City continues to be a forum for Muhammadiyah cadres to form intellectuals. IMM Medan City also continues to strive
