Abstract

This study highlights mental health as a global health challenge that requires serious attention, especially among students. The main objective is to examine the relationship between Mental Health Knowledge and Help-Seeking Behavior among psychology students at Nusa Cendana University. Using a quantitative approach, this research employs proportional sampling and two measurement scales: the Adolescents' Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire to assess mental health knowledge, and the General Help-Seeking Questionnaire to evaluate help-seeking behavior. The data analysis method used is Pearson's product-moment correlation, with the aid of Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistic 26 software. The results indicate a significant relationship between mental health knowledge and help-seeking behavior, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 (below 0.05). The correlation between the two variables is 0.435, which indicates a moderate and positive correlation. This means that the lower the mental health knowledge, the lower the help-seeking behavior. The study emphasizes the importance of students' proactive role in increasing their awareness of mental health. Students are encouraged to seek information from credible sources, such as books, scientific articles, seminars, and training sessions. Additionally, they are advised to engage in discussions with lecturers or supervisors, as well as participate in mental health-related organizations to broaden their knowledge. Sharing knowledge through discussions with peers is also expected to help strengthen their understanding of mental health.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between attitudes toward mental health and help-seeking behavior among psychology students at Nusa Cendana University. The participants consisted of 217 active students aged 18-24, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring attitudes toward mental health and help-seeking behavior, which were then analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents (77.4%) exhibit a positive attitude toward mental health, while 22.6% hold negative attitudes, reflecting stigma and barriers to help-seeking. The results also demonstrate a significant positive relationship between attitudes toward mental health and help-seeking behavior (r = 0.269; p < 0.05). This suggests that a positive attitude toward mental health contributes to an increased likelihood of students seeking support, whether informally from friends and family or formally from professional services. The study concludes that positive attitudes toward mental health can influence students' help-seeking behavior. The recommendation from this research is to promote ongoing education to reduce stigma and improve mental health literacy, enabling students to seek support more openly when facing mental health challenges. Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between conformity and cyber-aggression behavior among adolescent social media users in Kupang City. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 360 adolescents aged 12 to 22 years who are active social media users. The instruments used were conformity and cyber-aggression scales. Data analysis using Spearman’s Rho test revealed a significant positive correlation between conformity and cyber-aggression behavior, with a correlation coefficient of 0.163 and a significance value of p = 0.002 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the higher the level of conformity among adolescents, the greater their tendency to engage in aggressive behavior on social media. This result is important as a basis for developing strategies to prevent online aggressive behavior among adolescents.

Abstract

College students are an early adult age group that is vulnerable to emotional stress due to academic and non-academic demands. The inability to manage this stress can lead to maladaptive behaviors such as Non Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI), which is an act of self-harm without suicidal intent. One approach that is considered effective in reducing NSSI behavior is self-compassion. Self-compassion consists of three main components, namely self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness. All components play an important role in building healthy emotional regulation, reducing the tendency to blame oneself, and improving the psychological well-being of college students. This article is a literature review that synthesizes various theories and previous research results to explain the relationship between self-compassion and NSSI behavior in college students. The findings show that high self-compassion is negatively correlated with NSSI behavior and acts as a psychological protector in dealing with stress and life pressures.
