Abstract

Diabetes is a disease that is a problem in the world, and Indonesia had the fifth-highest prevalence of diabetes in the world in 2021 with 19.47 million patients. One of the efforts that can be made to treat diabetes mellitus is with traditional medicine that comes from nature. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the understanding of knowledge about diabetes mellitus and the use of traditional medicinal plants as therapy for diabetes mellitus. This community service method uses an educational method with the target being students of SMK PAB-3 Medan Estate. In the initial stage, a pretest session was conducted, followed by an education session related to the knowledge of diabetes mellitus and the utilization of traditional medicinal plants. In the final stage, a post-test was conducted. The results of this community service show that there is an increase in community knowledge before education, which is 40%, increasing after education by 60%.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Kasus hipertensi mengalami peningkatan, apabila tidak ditanggani dengan cepat, maka akan menyebabkan komplikasi yang dapat tejadi jika hipertensi tidak ditangani dengan cepat, maka pengunaan obat yang rasional pada pasien hipertensi merupakan salah satu elemen penting dalam tercapainya kualitas kesehatan serta perawatan medis bagi pasien sesuai standart yang diharapkan. Tujuan: mengetahui penggunaan obat antihipetensi dan ketepatan penggunaan obat hipertensi sesuai Join National Comunitte 8. Metode: Desain penelitian bersifat deskriptif secara retrospektif. Populasi diambil dari rekam medik tahun 2022 sebanyak 723 orang dan dengan menggunakan purvosive sampling serta rumus slovin di dapatkan jumlah sampel sebanyak 88 orang. Analisa data menggunakan univariat dengan SPSS. Hasil: penggunaan obat antihipertensi mayoritas adalah amlodipine sebanyak 63 orang (34,9%), kandesartan sebanyak 40 orang (22,1%) dan bisoprolol sebanyak 30 orang (16,6%). Berdasarkan Join National Comunitte 8 pada penggunaan obat yang tidak tepat terdapat sejumlah 4 terapi (5%) dan tidak tepat dosis sejumlah 4 terapi obat. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan dari tidak tepat dari penggunaan obat antihipertensi menurut Join National Comunitte 8  yaitu tidak tepat indikasi, tidak tepat obat dan tidak tepat dosis. Untuk itu hasil penelitian dapat dijadikan bahan evaluasi dalam penatalaksanaan terapi   hipertensi sehingga kedepannya didapatkan pengobatan yang lebih baik dan rasional

Abstract

Wungu leaves (Graptophyllum pictum (L) Griff) are often used as traditional medicine, contain several chemical compounds, including alkaloids, glycosides, steroids, saponins, tannins and flavonoids and chemical compounds, thought to have anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of this study was to utilize the ethanol extract of Wungu leaves that grow in the Pamah Deli Tua area, North Sumatra, as an anti-inflammatory. This study included characterization of simplicia, phytochemical screening and testing of the anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanol extract of Wungu leaves (EEDW). Measurement of rat leg volume induced by 1% λ-carrageenan using a plestimometer, observations were made every 30 minutes for 6 hours. This study used 5 treatment groups, namely group I was given 0.5% CMC suspension, group II was given diclofenac sodium at a dose of 4.5 mg/kg BW, group III was given EEDW at a dose of 100 mg/kg BW, group IV was given EEDW at a dose of 200 mg /kg BW, group V was given EEDW at a dose of 400 mg/kg BW. Inflammation percentage and inflammation inhibition percentage were calculated. Data were analyzed by Duncan to see whether or not there was a difference between the groups. The results showed that there were significant differences between the doses of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg BW, but between the doses of 400 mg/kh BW and diclofenac sodium there were no significant differences. The percentage of inflammation at a dose of 400 mg/kg BW was 3,366 and the percentage of inflammation inhibition was 86,569%. The higher the dose of EEDW the more effective it is as an anti-inflammatory, and the dose of 400 mg/KgBB in rats is the optimum dose of EEDW as an anti-inflammatory.

Abstract

Buah semangka merupakan salah satu jenis buah yang disukai oleh kebanyakan orang, Tanaman semangka (Citrullus lanatus) adalah tanaman yang berasal dari Afrika. Lapisan pada kulit semangka mengandung zat bermanfaat bagi kesehatan diantaranya antioksidan, kemampuannya untuk mengendalikan radikal bebas 100 kali lebih efesien dari pada vitamin E. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui formulasi sediaan sabun mandi padat dengan menggunakan putih kulit semangka (Citrullus lanatus) sebagai pelembab kulit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian ekperimental laboratorium. Sabun yang dibuat dengan penambahan ekstrak putih kulit semangka bervariasi mulai 0%, 3%, 5%, 7%. Putih kulit semangka yang di ekstraksi dengan cara remaserasi menggunakan bahan penyari etanol 96%. Parameter yang di amati di anataranya adalah uji organoleptis, uji pH, uji iritasi, uji stabilitas Busa, uji kesukaan, uji kelembaban kadar air (Mouisture). Berdasarkan Penelitian yang dilakukan hasil uji organoleptis diketahui semakin banyak penambahan ekstrak semakin pekat warna yang dihasilkan dari warna putih hingga coklat tua, dan bau sabun aroma cepat hilang, tekstur sabun yang dihasilkan semakin lama penyimpanan sabun semakin keras. Hasil uji pH sabun 9,4- 10,2 memenuhi syarat pH sabun yaitu 8-11, uji iritasi sabun tidak menunjukkan iritasi pada kulit, uji Stabilitas busa sebesar (66,29%), dan hasil uji kadar air kelembaban (Mouisture) pada konsentrasi 7% sebesar 36,6 yang sangat disukai oleh panelis dan menghasilkan kelembaban yang baik di antara konsentrasi sabun Lainnya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ekstrak putih kulit buah semangka (Citrullus lanatus) dapat diformulasikan dalam bentuk sediaan sabun mandi padat dan melembabkan kulit.

Abstract

Skin is the outermost organ that functions to protect muscles, ligaments and internal organs that can cause premature aging. Aging can be characterized by dry, thin, inelastic skin, wrinkles, death of skin cells, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation. Thus we need a protection such as anti-aging cosmetics. Antioxidants are often added because they can reduce oxidative damage caused by increased Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) due to ultraviolet light exposure. The research method used experimental laboratory. This sudy aims to determine ethanol extract of red spinach leaves that can be formulated in gel form as well as whether it can provide anti-aging effects on the skin. Organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, and dispersion tests are all used to evaluate the form. Using a skin analyzer, the gel dosage form's efficacy is tested for irritation and anti-aging properties. The findings demonstrated that there were no coarse grains and that the ethanol extract of red spinach leaves at concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5% did not alter color, odor, or shape. The form has a pH between 4.5 and 6.5, a viscosity between 2000 and 4000 mpa, and it did not irritate the skin. Water content and wrinkles showed a significant difference (p<.05) in the one-way ANOVA test findings, however pores, smoothness, and stains showed no significant difference p>.05. Formula that provides potential results for anti aging activity is a gel with an extract content of 5%.
