Abstract

Choosing the right learning model has a big influence on student learning outcomes. In practice, at SMP Negeri 4 Mauliru they tend to still use lecture or conventional learning methods so that student learning outcomes are relatively low. Therefore, reseach was carried out by applying the Project Based Learning (PBL) model. This research aims to see the effect of the PBL model on student mathematics learning outcomes. Learning outcomes are the entire series of activities that have been completed during the learning process, both directly and indirectly, which are then used as a benchmark for determining the level of success achieved by students. This research is quantitative research with an experimental type using a one-group pre-test post-test design. The population in this study were all class VIII students at SMP Negeri 4 Mauliru and the subjects were all class VIIIC students. The instruments used in this research were a pretest and posttest consisting of 5 questions. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive and inferential analysis. The results of this research indicate that there is a significant influence on students' mathematics learning outcomes using the PBL model. This is based on the results of the hypothesis test which shows that the sig (2-tailed) value is 0.000, which means the value is less than 0.05 (< 0.05), so Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the PBL model on student mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

The low understanding of learning concepts among students in mathematics learning is caused by various factors, one of which is the lack of use of instructional media resulting in students being more passive. The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of implementing a learning model on students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test-post-test experimental design. The study population consists of all eighth-grade students at Anda Luri Catholic Junior High School, divided into four classes: VIII A (29 students), VIII B (30 students), VIII C (30 students), and VIII D (29 students). The subjects of this study are students from VIII C who underwent treatment using the instructional model. The research instrument used is a written test consisting of five essay questions. To evaluate the impact of the instructional model, an independent t-test was conducted. The analysis of the results shows a significant difference, thus supporting the alternative hypothesis while rejecting the null hypothesis. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the instructional model has a significant impact on the understanding of mathematical concepts among eighth-grade students, especially in the topic of systems of linear equations with two variables.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menilai dampak penggunaan metode Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBL) terhadap pencapaian akademis siswa dalam pelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode pendekatan kuantitatif dengan rancangan eksperimen satu kelompok yang melibatkan pretest dan posttestPeserta dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa dari kelas VIII A SMP Katolik Padadita, terdiri dari 12 siswa laki-laki dan 13 siswa perempuan, yang mengikuti perlakuan menggunakan metode pembelajaran PBL. Instrumen pengukuran yang digunakan adalah tes tertulis yang terdiri dari lima pertanyaan esai. Analisis data menggunakan uji independent t-test menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan, menunjukkan adanya dukungan untuk hipotesis alternatif (H1) dan penolakan terhadap hipotesis nol (H0). Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran PBL secara signifikan meningkatkan pencapaian belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Katolik Padadita, terutama pada topik materi lingkaran.

Abstract

This study has several objectives, obtaining a description of the characteristics of student errors, as well as factors that cause students of class VIII of State Junior High School to make mistakes in the settlement of relationships and functions. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. Class VIII students with a total of 27 people are the research subject. The technique in determining the research subjects is the purposive sampling technique. Data collection with written test techniques, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Validity of data with triangulation of techniques and sources. The results of this study showed that students made 5 types of mistakes made by students on the settlement of relationships and fungi, namely mis-understanding of the concept of 19 students, errors in the use of data of 14 students, errors in interpreting the language of 18 students, technical errors of 26 students, and errors in the conclusion of 21 students. The factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving relationships and functions come from internal and external factors.
