Abstract

Menstruation is the monthly shedding of the functional layer of the endometrium in the uterus that occurs when ovulation is not followed by fertilization. Menstrual irregularities occur due to hormonal disturbances caused by stress, excessive exercise, medication use, approaching menopause, eating disorders, and nutritional status such as underweight and obesity. Nutrition refers to the nutrients present in food that are required by the body to obtain energy for daily activities. Nutritional problems arise from an imbalance between the nutrients consumed and those needed by the body. To examine the relationship between nutritional status and menstrual cycles in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Ahmad Dahlan University, a research study was conducted using an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 131 students. Statistical analysis using chi-square analysis showed a p-value of 0.001, which is smaller than ? = 0.05. From these results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between body mass index and upper arm circumference with the menstrual cycles of students in the Faculty of Medicine, Ahmad Dahlan University, while there is no relationship between waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, subcutaneous fat, and menstrual cycles in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Ahmad Dahlan University.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition of chronic malnutrition caused by suboptimal nutritional intake due to prolonged inadequate food consumption. Stunting, also known as being short, indicates a growth failure that occurs both before and after birth. The categorization of stunting based on the World Health Organization's (WHO) standard growth reference is a deficit in length or height for age with a Z-score < -2. Symptoms of stunting usually appear after the golden period of growth (2 years old). One of the contributing factors to stunting in toddlers is an imbalanced food intake. Exclusive breastfeeding is a critical component of nutritional intake to support a child's good nutritional status. It may contribute to the prevalence of stunting. Methods: This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional research design. The data collection consists of secondary data from stunting medical record records. The inclusion criteria of the study are children aged 12-60 months with complete data of anthropometric. Exclusion criteria are endocrine disorder, skeletal abnormalities, dysmorphic disorder, chronic disease, history of familial short stature, and constitutional delay of growth and puberty. Analysis of the data using Chi-square.Results: There is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the occurrence of stunting in children aged 12-60 months at the Community Health Centre in Yogyakarta City with a p-value of 0.00 (p < 0.05).Conclusion: There is a correlation between exclusive breastfeeding and the occurrence of stunting among children aged 12-60 months in primary healthcare care in Yogyakarta City.

Abstract

Mount Merapi is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The major eruptions happened in 1768, 1822, 1849, 1872, and the most recently in 2010. Three health centers are situated at the foot of Mount Merapi, with a high risk of potential disasters, ranging from eruptions and cold lava flows to landslides. To maintain service quality and effective disaster response, this study aimed to provide evaluation material for optimizing service quality and assessing the readiness level of these health centers. The research used a quantitative analysis method, collecting numerical data to outline the preparedness level of the three health centers: Puskesmas Pakem, Puskesmas Turi, and Puskesmas Cangkringan. The results, achieved through manual calculations, indicated that Puskesmas Pakem exhibited the highest functional preparedness with a score of 0.45, categorized as "moderate." Puskesmas Turi scored 0.40, also categorized as "moderate." On the other hand, Puskesmas Cangkringan scored 0.24, falling into the "low" category. In conclusion, two health centers fell into the "moderate" category, which means the risks to the safety of staff and patients persisted, necessitating future interventions. Meanwhile, one health center fell into the "low" category, signifying its inability to function optimally during disasters and requiring immediate interventions

Abstract

Introduction: Lung cancer is characterized by high mortality rates and poor prognosis, further requiring alternative therapies owing to the adverse effects of conventional chemotherapy. Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) has antimicrobial, antiproliferative, and antioxidant properties and can cure cancer. Method: Compounds from rambutan peel were identified through PubChem and analyzed for physicochemical properties using SwissADME. Target proteins were identified using SuperPred and compared with lung cancer–related proteins from GeneCards via Venny. Protein interactions were examined and visualized using STRING and Cytoscape, respectively. Protein activity was analyzed using WebGestalt, and docking simulations were performed using Autodock 4.2.6. Result: Physicochemical analysis of 10 active rambutan compounds via SwissADME showed favorable properties based on Lipinski’s rule, suggesting good oral bioavailability. In total, 276 specific target proteins were related to lung cancer. Cytoscape visualized the 53 core proteins implicated in lung cancer. Gene ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses indicated that rambutan compounds are active in lung cancer pathways, particularly nonsmall cell lung cancer. The analysis identified the top 10 interacting proteins STAT3 and CASP3 had the highest interaction value of 28, followed by PIK3CA and NFKB1 at 22, MAPK3, PIK3R1, PTGS2, GRB2, MAPK1, and CASP8. Per docking simulations, 1,2-diphenylethane-1-ol was the highest affinity to STAT3 (−4.78) and CASP3 (−6.75). Conclusion: Rambutan peel compounds have remarkable anticancer potential, particularly with high affinity for STAT3 and CASP3 proteins, based on in silico molecular docking studies.
