Abstract

Teachers’ perception of a particular material is an influential aspect of the way teachers learn the material.  Since evolution is a debating material, teachers affected by this condition when they teaching the evolutionary topic. For those reasons, this descriptive study aimed to identify teachers’ perception of evolution learning, which consists of four main aspects: learning material, strategy, sources, and assessment. The population is all biology teachers at Padang, Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Sampling was taken by purposive sampling, with criteria biology teachers that already taught the evolutionary topic in senior high school. Data collected from the questionnaire and analyzed descriptively in percentage. The result showed that for the majority of biology teachers at Padang have perceptions toward four aspects of evolution learning in a category very good, good, and good enough. In details, more concerns are needed for some less valued descriptor related to the contradiction issue between evolution theory and Islamic beliefs. In the average, each score of perception for four aspects are: learning material 3.71; strategies 4.11; sources 3.64; and assessment 3.92 with all average criteria in good category. Each aspect performed is discussed.

Abstract

This study explores the role of education in enhancing essential competencies aligned with contemporary demands, focusing on the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) project within Indonesia's independent curriculum. The research aims to analyze the implementation of the P5 initiative in Sekolah Penggerak in Siak Regency and its effect on students' 4C skills (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity). Employing a descriptive research design with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, data was gathered through questionnaires and interviews, then analyzed statistically. Random sampling was used to select participants. The findings indicate that teachers in Siak Regency's Sekolah Penggerak perform well, with an average score of 3.73. The P5 implementation by students is rated very highly, averaging 4.32. In terms of 4C skills, students demonstrate excellent collaboration (4.51) and communication (4.29) abilities, while their critical thinking (4.15) and creativity (4.14) are classified as good. A correlation test reveals a positive relationship between P5 implementation and the development of 4C skills.

Abstract

The PjBL learning model needs to be outlined in a learning module to help learning be more interesting and effective. During the two years of the implementation of the green pedagogy course, there has been no PjBL-based learning module that can be used by students. This research aims to produce PjBL-based e-modules to improve the effectiveness of green pedagogy learning. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research using the ADDIE model, with development steps namely; Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research sample is 30 students who are taking green pedagogy courses. The research instrument consisted of a validation sheet with descriptive data analysis techniques. The module feasibility testing stage is carried out by product validation by two experts. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that PjBL-based e-modules are very valid and can be used in the learning process.

Abstract

Indonesia is a disaster-prone country that requires people to have disaster management skills. Disaster education is carried out through learning Environmental Science and Disaster Mitigation using case method-based modules. The purpose of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of case-based modules in improving students' 21st century abilities including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. This study used a pre-experimental design using a single-shot case study approach, which was conducted in two experimental classes without a control group. Data were collected using structured observation sheets based on standardized 4C skill indicators. The results of the study showed that the use of case-based modules improved students' 4C skills, including critical thinking, with an average score of 84.27 (class A) and 84 (class B) categorized as competent. Student communication class has an average score of 85.20 and class B 82.87 is categorized as competent. The collaboration of students is categorized as very competent with a grade A score of 85.67 and class B of 83.4. Students' creative abilities are categorized as competent in class A with an average of 85.13 and categorized as very competent in class B with an average of 83.27. Overall, the application of disaster management learning modules with case study methods is effective in improving students' 21st century competencies, especially in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity (4C).
