Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Lately, delayed cord clamping is often used as a method of cutting the umbilical cord which is expected to provide good outcomes for the baby, but this method still needs to be studied in depth through review articles to find out its effect. This study aims to compare the results of studies on the effectiveness of delayed cord clamping methods on bilirubin levels and neurodevelopment of infants and toddlers.Method: The method in this study is a scoping review with PRISMA guidelines, the data bases used are Pubmed and Google Schoolar. The inclusion criteria for this study included randomized control trial, quasi-experimental, and clinical trial designs.Result: There are 6 articles that discuss the effectiveness of DCC on neurodevelopment. In the Age of stage questionnaire, there are 5 domains that have high average values, which are problem solving, fine motor skills, and communication. On the Bayley Scales of Infant Development questionnaire which has the highest average score is the motor cognitive domain. Most of the articles that discuss the effectiveness of DCC on bilirubin levels show that there is an increase in bilirubin levels after the DCC intervention. Conclusion: DCC is less effective on neurodevelopment and bilirubin levels. It is necessary to develop further research in Indonesia regarding the effects of DCC on neurodevelopment and bilirubin levels

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy remains a widespread public health problem, including in the working area of Alalak Selatan Public Health Center, Banjarmasin City, which previously recorded an increase in cases. Demographic factors such as maternal age and parity are theoretically believed to be risk factors triggering a decrease in hemoglobin levels. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between age and parity with the incidence of anemia in first-trimester pregnant women in the working area of Alalak Selatan Public Health Center, Banjarmasin City. This study utilized a quantitative analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 120 first-trimester pregnant women selected using a purposive sampling technique based on data from January to November 2025. The independent variables were age and parity, while the dependent variable was the incidence of anemia. Data were collected using observation sheets referring to the maternal cohort medical records to record age, parity, and hemoglobin levels, which were then analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results showed that the majority of respondents were in the healthy or not-at-risk reproductive age range of 20-35 years (81.7%) and had multipara parity status (48.3%). The incidence of anemia was very low, with 95% of respondents not experiencing anemia and only 5% experiencing mild anemia. Statistical tests proved that there was no significant relationship between maternal age and the incidence of anemia (p = 0.492), and no significant relationship was found between parity and the incidence of anemia (p = 0.712). This study concludes that age and parity have no relationship with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the area. The low rate of anemia in both at-risk and not-at-risk age and parity groups indicates that pregnant women's compliance with routine Antenatal Care (ANC) programs and iron supplementation consumption has a much more dominant impact in preventing blood deficiency complications.

Abstract

Background: The tradition of basunat or circumsised on baby girls is still carried out by the Banjaresse in South Kalimantan as part of a cultural heritage that is believed to be related to purity, family honor, and a smooth delivery process. Although it has no medical basis and is prohibited by law, this practice is still preserved on the basis of social, cultural, and religious values that develop in the community. This study aims to examine the form of basunat implementation on baby girls in the Banjar community and evaluate its impact on reproductive health. Subjects and Method: This was a qualitative study with a descriptive-exploratory approach. The study was conducted in Tapin, Barito Kuala, Banjarmasin, and Banjar Districts of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The informants were village shamans, midwives, indigenous people, and women who had been circumcised. Data were collected through documentation and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using data reduction techniques, narrative presentation, and drawing conclusions. Results: The study showed that the practice of circumcision is still commonly carried out symbolically and physically, generally by village shamans with traditional tools that are not sterile. The community still believes that circumcision can smooth the delivery process and is a cultural or religious obligation. However, this practice has the potential to have negative impacts on women's physical and psychological health Conclusion: Policy interventions that prioritize local culture-based education and the involvement of religious and community leaders are needed. This approach can help change public perception and support the sustainable elimination of this tradition.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding plays an important role in infant health, but the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding globally and internationally has not yet met the set targets. One of the main obstacles faced by postpartum mothers is the lack of smooth milk production in the early postpartum period due to physiological and psychological factors such as stress, fatigue, and impaired let-down reflex. Oxytocin massage is believed to be able to stimulate the release of the oxytocin hormone, thereby helping to facilitate breast milk production, but its application at the primary care level is still limited. This study aims to determine the effect of oxytocin massage on the smoothness of breast milk in primiparous postpartum mothers in the working area of the Alalak Selatan Community Health Center, Banjarmasin City. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The population was all primiparous postpartum mothers in the working area of the Alalak Selatan Community Health Center, with samples taken using an accidental sampling technique. The oxytocin massage intervention was given for three consecutive days, the smoothness of breast milk was measured before and after the intervention using an observation sheet. The results showed a significant increase in breast milk flow after the intervention, with all 30 respondents reaching the smooth category ( Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test , Z = 4.806; p = 0.000).
