Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the value of SGOT and SGPT in milkfish induced by heavy metals (Hg) by aquaria flushing technique with Rosella (Hibiscus Sabdariffa Linn) extract. The samples used were 30 male adult milkfish divided into 5 groups. The treatment group was induced with a toxic dose of heavy metal mercury (Hg), which was dissolved in a volume of m3 of water. Blood collection from the heart vein of milkfish as much as 1-2 ml for SGPT and SGOT examination was carried out using the Berthelot method. The liver, gills and brain of milkfish were then examined, 300 grams were centrifuged until smooth and then dissolved in methanol to obtain concentrations of 25ppm, 50ppm, 100ppm, 200ppm, 300ppm, 400ppm, 500ppm, 600ppm, 700ppm, 800ppm, 9 00ppm. and 1000ppm then analyzed by ANOVA. Based on the research results of black roselle flower extract therapy with aquaria flushing system on male milkfish, the average value of SGOT and SGPT showed a very significant decrease in groups P1, P2, P3, and P4, against the P0 group or control group (P<0, 01).

Abstract

The purpose of this case study was to describes the infection with feline calicivirus manifested as chronic stomatitis, rhinitis and otitis in a Bengal cat. A cat was presented to the clinic due to inappetence, weakness, and frequent vomiting. It had never been vaccinated, and never been given anthelmintic. It had an open wound on its back, and purulent discharge was appearing in the ear and nose. Using an antigen test kit, Feline Calicivirus was tested positive for infection with Feline calicivirus. Therapies were given to relieve clinical signs however, the patient could not be saved. Prevention of feline calicivirus could be done by vaccination, as well as maintaining cleanliness of housing and equipment.

Abstract

This study aims to compare PLT (Platelet) and MPV (Mean Platelet Volume) in domestic pet cats and stray cats in Surabaya. This examination uses a blood sample with a total of 30 samples of domestic pet cats and 30 samples of stray cats. PLT and MPV were determined by Pacar Laboratory Surabaya. The results showed that 4 samples of cats that had abnormal PLT and MPV values with an average PLT of PLT 86,25 10^3/µL and an average MPV 6,95 fL, while 30 samples were obtained in domestic pet cats there were samples of cats that abnormal PLT and MPV values with an average PLT 94,5 10^3/µL and an average MPV 8,98 fL. Data analysis used an independent sample t-test for Windows with a significant level of 0,05. The result of data analysis showed not significant. In conclusion between domestic pets cats and stray cats was that the treatment did not experience a significant difference because the care and feeding were almost the same.
