Abstract

This study is based on the maneuvering process using an azimuth propeller when departing from Hobart Port, Australia, specifically on April 2, 2024. This research aims to discuss the factors influencing the success of maneuvering and optimizing cruise ship maneuvering with an azimuth propeller, particularly during departure from Hobart Port, Australia. The research method is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The data sources for this study were obtained from both primary and secondary sources, with several data points collected through direct observation during sea practice and direct interviews with officers on board. This study is also supported by documentation data and a literature review conducted during the research on MS Noordam. To ensure data validity, the researcher used the triangulation method. The findings indicate that internal factors, external factors, and operational approaches play a crucial role in maneuvering success. Specifically, the study identifies how optimal configurations of the azimuth propeller and bow thruster contribute to maneuvering efficiency, providing a more precise understanding of their role in improving maneuverability. This research advances current practice by demonstrating the significance of modern propulsion technology and timely decision-making by navigators in achieving successful maneuvering outcomes. The study offers valuable insights for enhancing cruise ship operations, particularly in challenging port environments like Hobart Port.

Abstract

Abstrak: MT. Cendrawasih merupakan aset milik PT. Pertamina International Shipping. MT.

Abstract

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyse the relationship between service quality, facility quality, and student satisfaction at the Semarang Merchant Marine Polytechnic (PIP). This research is grounded in the significant contribution of service quality and the provision of adequate facilities in maritime education and training, which are essential for supporting the competence of cadets, student officers, and other learners, as well as for fostering their continued loyalty. The present study adopted a quantitative research design employing data collection through a survey, with data collected through a well-structured survey instrument questionnaire and analysed using linear regression. The study results indicate that the grade of educational provisions and infrastructure produces a favourable and statistically significant influence on student contentment. These findings suggest that simultaneous or partial improvements in the aspects of services and facilities can increase customers' positive perceptions of institutions. The results derived from this study offer practical implications for administrator at PIP Semarang in formulating strategies to enhance the management of services and facilities, thereby fostering customer satisfaction and sustaining loyalty.

Abstract

This study aims to explore effective character education management strategies to address the negative impacts of social media use on adolescents. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to analyze studies on character education, digital citizenship, and social media, focusing on their impact on adolescents. A qualitative approach was used, synthesizing peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and conference papers published in the last five years from academic databases like Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus. Data collection involved selecting relevant studies based on specific keywords and predetermined criteria. The collected data were then analyzed through several stages: first, screening and classifying the selected literature; second, extracting key variables such as research focus, methodology, and outcomes; and third, performing a narrative synthesis to identify recurring themes, patterns, and gaps in current research. The results showed that integrating character education with digital citizenship education is crucial in equipping adolescents with the skills to interact positively online. Furthermore, the role of educators trained in technology and digital ethics is essential to help adolescents manage the psychological impacts of social media. The biggest challenge faced is the lack of a curriculum that explicitly integrates digital citizenship with character education. A phenomenon-based approach has proven effective in addressing this challenge by providing students with real-life experiences. In conclusion, digital-based character education can improve adolescents' skills in managing social media use more responsibly. This research makes an important contribution to the development of a more relevant educational curriculum in the digital era.
