Abstract

Regeneration is a form of regrowth that organisms have to replace damaged cell parts. Lizard (Mabouya multifasiata) suborder Lacertilia and Lizzos (Hemidactylus Platyurus) has the ability to autotomize the tail as a self-defense mechanism. This study aims to obtain information about cell regeneration during autotomy of male lizards (M.multifasiata) and Lizzos (H.platyurus). This research was conducted at the Biology Laboratory of UIN Raden Fatah and Dyatnitalis Laboratory Palembang. This research method is Quantitative Descriptive, which describes the results of morphometric measurements of morphology and the development of tail cell histology tissue M.multifasiata and H.Platyurus. The results of each tail : M. multifasiata, morphometric measurements obtained morphological forms on the head (HeadL) with a head length of 2-3 cm, the body (AGL) is generally blackish brown with yellowish green color tones with a length of 8 cm, and the tail (TaiL) is black from the base of the cloaca to the tip of the tail with a length of 10-12 cm with a skin surface covered with fine scales. Based on cell examination data with Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining showed the development of cell regeneration taken from Day 1 which is called the initial sample, the 15th tail results and the 30th tail results days after autotomy showed cell growth on day 15 with the discovery of muscle cells (muscles), fat tissue (perivertebral fat tissue), cartilage (cartilagous tube), central nervous system (meninx) and Ependimal cells (ependymal cell). The ability to regenerate tail cells is compiled from the number of accretions of cartilage cells (cartilagous tube) that are perfect on the 15th and 30th days. H. platyurus, morphology is the shape of the head (HeadL), the snout is longer than the distance from the eye to the ear. Oval shape of the ear canal. Morphometry of the H. platyurus body part (AGL), in general the body (AGL) is gray with varying light and dark patterns on the dorsal side. On the ventral side tends to be light yellowish. On the tail, flat shape with sharp sides and covered by the same small scales. Based on the results of cell observations with HE staining, it showed        the growth and development of cells in the 15th tail, on the 30th day it showed the presence of muscle cells (muscles), fat tissue (perivertebral fat tissue), cartilage (cartilaginous tube), the central nervous system (meninx) and ependymal cells. The ability to regenerate lizard cells is arranged by the perfect cartilage (cartilaginous tube) on day 30.

Abstract

Bay leaves are a common culinary spice used in Indonesian cuisine and are known to contain various chemical compounds including essential oils, flavonoids, tannins, antimicrobial compounds, and vitamin C. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of bay leaf extract in enhancing the stamina of male mice. The research was conducted using a quantitative experimental method with a completely randomised design (CRD). A total of 20 male mice were used as samples and divided into five treatment groups, which included a control group (P0), a dosage of 3 mg/g body weight (P1), a dosage of 6 mg/g body weight (P2), a dosage of 12 mg/g body weight (P3), and a dosage of 18 mg/g body weight (P4), with each treatment repeated three times. The swimming test was employed to measure the duration of swimming in mice as an indicator of stamina. Data were analysed using ANOVA. The results indicated that the administration of bay leaf extract at various doses over a period of 7 days did not produce a significant (P=0,715) effect on the stamina enhancement of male mice. Therefore, bay leaf extract was not effective in improving the stamina of male mice at the tested dosages.

Abstract

In the contemporary educational landscape, the lecture or question-and-answer method remains prevalent, leading to infrequent use of media in the learning process. Consequently, students' creativity and interest in the subject matter can diminish. To determine the validity of the booklet media as a supportive resource and reference for class X SMA/MA eubacteria material. This study employs development research based on the ADDIE development model introduced by Dick and Carey, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Testing revealed that the analysis of learning media needs for eubacteria material at Muara Rupit State High School indicated that students' reliance on textbooks and teacher-provided summaries was suboptimal for the teaching process. Therefore, it is necessary to develop booklet media to assist students in cultivating critical thinking and scientific attitudes. It is important to continue developing booklet media and to test its practicality to ensure it can be effectively integrated into school learning environments

Abstract

This research aims to identify and document the local food security system in the Semende traditional community based on tunggu tubang indigenous knowledge. The study was conducted in 3 districts of Muara Enim, South Sumatra, involving 81 people from 5 villages practicing the tunggu tubang custom. Using a mixed method, the research took place from July to August 2023.The findings revealed that while tunggu tubang adherents still inherit rice fields and agricultural land, some no longer own rice fields. Inheriting rice fields has led to sufficient food availability but does not guarantee good food security. 50.6% of respondents experienced mild food insecurity due to the traditional sandwich generation where they have to support their parents and closest family. Despite this, most children (56.6%) showed good nutritional status. This research identifies and documents the local food security system in the Semende traditional community. It reveals the importance of tunggu tubang in maintaining food availability but acknowledges the challenges in achieving food security. The findings provide valuable insights for developing educational initiatives to address climate change and food security
