Abstract

The Rutaceae famili is a citrus plant that is spread throughout Indonesia. These plants are rich with vitamin C, folate and fiber. Rutaceae members have not been well identified until now, especially in the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens. This research aims to determine various species of plants in the Rutaceae family in the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection was carried out by direct exploring inside the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens. The results found five species of the Rutaceae family, such as jeruk nipis or lime (Citrus aurantiifolia), jeruk kunci or calamansi (Citrus microcarpa), gongseng or orange berry (Glycosmis pentaphylla), sampang or euodia lunu-ankenda (Melicope lunu-ankenda) and kemuning or orange jasmine (Murraya paniculata).

Abstract

The duku plant (Lansium domesticum Corr) is a plant that is widely distributed in tropical regions such as Indonesia. One of the famous plants in Indonesia is duku Komering. Duku has a very sweet taste with proven production increasing every year. So it is necessary to cultivate duku using tissue culture techniques. The use of tissue culture techniques is able to produce seedlings in large quantities in a short time. This research aims to see the response of stem explants from plantlets. The research was carried out in the Tissue Culture room, Integrated Laboratory, Raden Fatah State Islamic University, Palembang for 49 days after induction (DAI). The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research and experimental methods with a completely randomized research design (CRD). This research used several varying concentrations of kinetin, including 0 ppm, 1 ppm, 2 ppm, 3 ppm and 4 ppm. on stem explants (caulis) from duku plantlets (Lansium domesticum Corr.). The results showed that there was no growth response to the administration of various concentrations of kinetin during the observation

Abstract

The stevia plant (Stevia rebaudiana B.) is found in the United States, and is often used as a mixture in drinks. In Indonesia, cultivation of stevia began in 1977 in West Java and Central Java. The natural sweetener content with low calories makes stevia a solution for diabetes sufferers. Conventional cultivation takes a long time and depends on soil conditions, climate and variety. Tissue culture is used for plant propagation in a short time, free of pests and diseases, and does not depend on the season. Growth Regulators (ZPT) such as kinetin are used to accelerate shoot growth. The tissue culture media used is Murashige Skoog (MS). This study aims to examine the effect of kinetin on shoot induction in stevia explants through tissue culture, with explants in the form of leaf petioles. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with kinetin concentrations of 1 ppm, 2 ppm, 3 ppm and 4 ppm. The results of the research showed that all kinetin treatments on leaf petiole mother explants were able to form shoots with an average percentage of 100%. But it didn't show any influence.

Abstract

Model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe student team achievement division pada keterampilan proses sains peserta didik diarahkan untuk menemukan sendiri berbagai fakta, membangun konsep, motivasi dan kerjasama dalam kelompok, memudahkan pemecahan masalah baik dalam pembelajaran sains maupun sosial. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh keterampilan proses sains peserta didik melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe student team achievement division materi struktur dan fungsi tumbuhan. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian quasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Muaradua Kisam sebanyak 98 orang. Sampel penelitian VIII.1 sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VIII.2 sebagai kelas eksperimen berjumlah 50 peserta didik.Teknik sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes tertulis, wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data penelitian berupa uji normalitas dengan uji shapiro-wilk, uji homogenitas, uji hipotesis dengan uji independent t test, serta uji N-gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dapat meningkat secara signifikan terhadap keterampilan proses sains peserta didik pada materi struktur dan fungsi tumbuhan dibuktikan dengan diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,00 berarti H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Maka dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh dari penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD terhadap keterampilan proses sains peserta didik pada materi struktur dan fungsi tumbuhan.

Abstract

Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) is a plantation plant that is used for its fruit. Indonesia is one of the countries that exports vanilla and has climate factors that support increasing vanilla production to meet global demand, One of the efforts that can be made in vanilla propagation is through plant tissue culture. This research aims to induce calluses. This study used a Random Design using stem explants and several different hormone concentrations, namely: 0.0 ppm NAA and 0.0 ppm Kinetin, 1.0 ppm NAA and 0.5 ppm Kinetin, 1.0 ppm NAA and 1.0 ppm Kinetin, 2.0 ppm NAA and 0.5 ppm Kinetin, 2.0 ppm NAA and 1.0 ppm Kinetin, 2.0 ppm NAA and 2.0 ppm Kinetin. There was an effect on the administration of NAA and Kinetin on callus induction in the explants of the vanilla plant (Vanilla planifolia Andrews). It is based on the Anova one-way Hypothesis Test with a significance value of 0.000 (Asymp. Sig <0.05) then Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. The optimal concentration to induce callus in stem explants is the administration of 1.0 ppm NAA + 0.5 ppm Kinetin with an average callus growth rate of 7 HST and a 100% callus growth percentage of explants.   Keywords: Vanilla, induction, callus, tissue culture, hormones

Abstract

Zingiberaceae family plants are spice plants that are widely preserved in Banuayu village, South Kikim sub-district, Lahat district. Zingiberaceae plants are also used by the community as cooking spices, traditional medicines, food and drink ingredients and food coloring. This research aims to determine the species of the Zingiberaceae family in Banuayu village. This type of research on the identification of the Zingiberaceae family uses the exploration method. The results of the research show that there are 10 species of the Zingiberaceae family consisting of bangle (Zingiber montanum (J. Konig) Link ex A. Dietr), galangal (Kaempferia galanga L.), white turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe), yellow turmeric (Cucurma longa L.), red galangal (Alpinia purpurata (Vieill.) K.Schum), white galangal (Alpinia galanga (L.) Willd.), white ginger (Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe), red ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe), combrang (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M.Sm.), and ginger (Curcuma zanthorrhiza Roxb.).

Abstract

AbstractResearch using ethanol extract from black cumin seeds aims to find out whether black cumin seed extract (Nigella sativa) can be effective in increasing the stamina of male mice. The research design used was a completely randomized design (RAL). The samples used were 24 male mice consisting of four treatments and six repetitions. The dosing treatment consisted of a normal control group (P0), 30 mg/kg weight (P1), 60 mg/kg weight (P2), and 120 mg/kg weight (P3). The swimming test method was used to determine the effect of increasing stamina on mice. Data on the swimming duration of mice were analyzed using the ANOVA test then continued using the Post Hoc Test, namely LSD. The average stamina of mice based on swimming duration was the highest, namely at a dose of 120 mg/kgW (P3). Administration of black cumin seed extract (Nigella sativa) at doses of 30 mg/kgBW, 60 mg/kgW, and 120 mg/kgW for 14 days provided effectiveness in increasing stamina in male white mice (Mus musculus) as indicated by an increase in the swimming duration of the mice in each treatment.AbstrakPenelitian menggunakan ekstrak etanol biji jinten hitam bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak biji jinten hitam (Nigella sativa) dapat berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan stamina mencit jantan. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan ialah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 24 ekor mencit jantan yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan dan enam pengulangan. Perlakuan pemberian dosis terdiri atas kelompok kontrol normal (P0), 30 mg/kgBB (P1), 60 mg/kgBB (P2), dan 120 mg/kgBB (P3). Metode swimming test digunakan untuk mengetahui efek peningkatan stamina terhadap mencit. Data durasi renang mencit dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA kemudian dilanjutkan menggunakan uji Post Hoc Test yaitu LSD. Rata-rata stamina mencit berdasarkan durasi renang yang paling tinggi yaitu pada dosis 120 mg/kgBB (P3). Pemberian ekstrak biji jinten hitam (Nigella sativa) pada dosis 30 mg/kgBB, 60 mg/kgBB, dan 120 mg/kgBB selama 14 hari dapat berpengaruh dalam peningkatan stamina pada mencit putih jantan (Mus musculus) ditandai meningkatnya durasi renang mencit dimasing-masing perlakuan.

Abstract

Metacognitive skills help students think, manage their knowledge, analyze and solve problems, understand their learning methods and strategies, and think critically. Guided inquiry learning trains students to think critically, analyze, evaluate, and build information based on their acquired knowledge. This study aims to investigate students' metacognitive skills through guided inquiry learning on the material of Plant Structure and Function. The type of research used is Pre-Experiment with One-Group Pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used saturated samples with a sample size of 19 students. The research instruments used were pretest and posttest questions on metacognitive skills with planning, monitoring, and evaluation indicators. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon non-parametric test. The results of the increase in cognitive skills in the pretest and posttest were indicated by the N-gain value of 0.59 with the Medium category. The results of the data analysis obtained the Asymp value, sig < 0.5, which is 0.00, which means that HI is accepted. This shows that learning using guided inquiry can affect students' metacognitive skills.

Abstract

Nepenthes mirabilis is an endemic plant of Sumatra that has been classified as endangered since 2014. This plant needs to be conserved to prevent its extinction. One of the methods that can be applied to overcome the threat of extinction is plant propagation through modern tissue culture technology. Using this method, plant breeding can be carried out in a relatively short time, in large quantities, and without depending on seasonal conditions. The aim of this research is to conserve this rare species through experimental approaches using a completely randomized design. The data were analyzed both descriptively and quantitatively. In this study, variations of kinetin hormone concentrations were applied (0 ppm, 0.25 ppm, 0.50 ppm, 0.75 ppm, 1.0 ppm, 1.25 ppm, 1.50 ppm, 1.55 ppm, and 2.00 ppm). The best results were obtained at a concentration of 1.50 ppm, with the highest average number of leaves (8.00 ± 0.000) and the longest leaf length (8.083 ± 0.022 cm). These findings indicate that the application of kinetin at certain concentrations can accelerate the propagation of Nepenthes mirabilis seedlings in vitro, producing more plantlets in a shorter period of time, and without seasonal limitations. Therefore, tissue culture techniques with the addition of kinetin hormone can serve as an effective solution to support the conservation and sustainable propagation of Nepenthes mirabilis.   Keywords: conservation, Hormone, pitcher plant, propagation, tissue culture
