Abstract

Social media usage can both positively and negatively affect children's sleep patterns, with potential negative effects on the quality and quantity of sleep. However, until now, more evidence is needed about the phenomenon in a population of school-age children. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the duration of social media use and sleep pattern disturbances in children aged 10-12 years at SD Negeri Kepatihan 05 based on the theory of problematic smartphone use. The research design uses a correlational approach with a cross-sectional approach. The population of children aged 10-12 years at SD Negeri Kepatihan 05 Jember is 250 respondents. The number of samples was 104 using simple random sampling. Data collection on the duration of social media use used an observation sheet while sleep pattern disturbances used a questionnaire sheet. Data analysis used rho sperm with the condition α ≤ 0.05. The results showed that there was a relationship between the duration of social media use and disturbed sleep patterns in children aged 10-12 years. The correlation in this study shows an r-value of 0.230 which identifies the degree of weak relationship, p-value of 0.019. The duration of social media use has been found to have a positive relationship with disturbed sleep patterns. This study concluded that prolonged social media use can disrupt sleep patterns in children, emphasizing the need for parental monitoring in this context.

Abstract

Background. Currently, research and reviews on the human brain are increasingly supported by continuously developing technological advancements. Thus, children's brain development is more easily comprehended along with the rapid growth of science. In criminal law, this supports the understanding of children's ability to control impulsive behavior. This research aimed to observe children's age limit in taking responsibility for crimes in the Indonesian law system by considering legal theories and science related to the cognitive neural system from the perspective of neurolaw. Research Method. In this research, the data is obtained from a literature study and analyzed conceptually based on legal regulation in Indonesia usually it’s namely normative legal research. Findings. The result of this research showed that in Indonesia, children can be imposed with criminal responsibility from the age of 12 until before they reach the age of 18. Meanwhile, from the perspective of neurolaw, the brain has not completely developed within that age range, and its shifts are reflected in human behavior. However, due to the gradual transition of brain development, it is impossible to determine an absolute age limit for brain maturity in the range of 12-17 years old, and thus children’s criminal cases must be reviewed individually. Therefore, the assistance or explanation of neural/psychiatric experts, besides legal experts, is required in handling children's criminal cases. Conclusion. Children can be charged with criminal responsibility from 12 to 18 years old, due to brain development shifts.

Abstract

Background. The students of health departments face many challenges in learning English for their career in the future, including four language skills and components. In the era of technological advances, there are alternatives to help students improve their English competencies, one of them using Podcast media. Some studies revealed that Podcasts are interactive media in teaching and learning and are useful to give students more meaningful learning experiences for real life.  This study aimed to determine the ESP students’ point of view on using Podcasts to learn English. Research Method. The writer employed mixed method research with quantitative and qualitative research with approach survey research and interviews to collect data. Ninety-six (96) nursing department students were the participants/respondents of this study; online questionnaires to find out students’ points of view and interviews were used to collect the data. The data found were analyzed quantitively and descriptively. Findings. The result showed that more than 75% of respondents had positive perceptions of Podcast use in English language learning. The students also had positive comments during the interview about the Podcasts used in the classroom. Conclusion. Podcasts have some benefits to be used in English language learning as one of the alternatives of education media both online and offline mode.

Abstract

BackgroundPatient safety is an emerging healthcare discipline with the ultimate goal of reducing errors and harm to patients by implementing quality health services. The provision of patient safety is complex and difficult to achieve. The purpose of this research was to assess patient safety in hospital pediatric inpatient care and factors affecting nurses implementing pediatric patient safety. MethodsThis cross-sectional study involved 80 nurses (male and female) at several private and public hospitals in Surabaya City. The research instruments used were secondary data on patient safety in hospital pediatric inpatient wards, hospital medical records, as well as questionnaires, and observations of the implementation of pediatric patient safety goals. Data were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. ResultsMost participants were female (71.3%), were over 45 years old (18%), and had more than 5 years of work experience in pediatric wards (76%). There were reportedly 145 patient safety incidents, consisting of 46% unexpected events (Kejadian Tidak Diharapkan), 48% nearly injurious events (Kejadian Nyaris Cedera), 6% potential injurious events (Kejadian Potensial Cedera), and 0% sentinel events. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that nurses who work in less positive working settings are at higher risk of negative implementation of pediatric patient safety than those who work in positive working settings [AOR= 1.85 (95% CI 1.62-4.92)]. ConclusionThis study demonstrated that work setting and frequency of reported events were significantly associated with negative implementation of pediatric patient safety. Therefore, intervention is recommended to minimize unnecessary pediatric patient harm.

Abstract

Background. Decubitus ulcers or pressure ulcers are wounds caused by prolonged pressure on the skin due to continuous lying down, which is one of the main causes of mortality and morbidity in patients in health services. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is a method of preventing decubitus ulcers by means of massage which contains natural moisturizers, is easily absorbed by the skin, contains vitamin E and helps maintain skin moisture. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of massage with virgin coconut oil in preventing decubitus ulcers in high-care units. Research Method. Pre-test and Posttest-only with control group design was used as the design in this research. The population in this study was 30 respondents who were divided into two control and treatment groups using an incidental sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by observation during 7 days of treatment of treatment and control respondents in observation sheets according to the EPUAP Pressure Ulcer Classification. Test the hypothesis using the Independent t-test. Findings. The analysis results showed that the P value was 0.005 < 0.05, and there was an influence of virgin coconut oil on the level of pressure ulcers. Conclusion. Early monitoring of symptoms and risks of pressure ulcers so that patients avoid symptoms of pressure ulcers and optimize the patient health status, especially in high-care units.

Abstract

Background. Stunting remains one of the most serious public health problems in Indonesia. This condition describes linear growth failure in children due to chronic malnutrition, especially during the first 1000 days of life (the first day of birth), which has a long-term impact on children's physical and cognitive development and future productivity. This study aims to identify various implementations of stunting prevention interventions. Research Method. Articles were searched using three databases: Web of Science, Google Scholar, and ProQuest. The inclusion criteria for this study were articles published within one year, from 2024 to 2025, with free access. The research method used in this study was a systematic review based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Findings. it was found that stunting prevention in Indonesia is influenced by various multidimensional factors, including parenting, knowledge, behavior, and the social and economic conditions of the family. Conclusion. Based on the articles reviewed, Stunting prevention needs to be carried out through a holistic and intersectoral approach, including education, family empowerment, improving the nutritional quality of pregnant women, cadre support, and the use of technology and sustainable food policies.
