Abstract

ABSTRACT Seinfeld is one of the most popular situation comedies aired in USA televisions. It becomes quite popular since it shows everyday situations in a humorous way. People can see themselves dealing with the same situations as shown in its episodes. This research is conducted to find out about the forms of humor expression employed by the characters and to describe key factors employed in the episode which causes humor in one of the episode of Seinfeld, entitled The Chinese Woman. It also used the pragmatic approach. The data analysis shows the findings that there are three types of humor expression. They are assertive form, directive form, and expressive form. Meanwhile, the key factors causing humor in The Chinese Woman are the violations of cooperative principle and politeness principle, and the exploitation of irony principle.   Keywords: situation comedy, humor, pragmatic

Abstract

Abstract   The objective of this research is to identify whether the KWL can improve students  reading comprehension when used in the teaching and learning process of  reading comprehension in the class. The subject of  the research was the Drst  grade of  SMAN 3 Sragen, Central Java, in the academic year of  2011/2012. The research was conducted in two cycles: the Drst cycle consisted of three meetings, and so was the second cycle. To collect the data of students  reading competence, some instruments namely: tests, questionnaire, interview, and class observation were used. To ana- lyze the quantitative data which were taken from the result of stu- dents  score, the researcher applied a descriptive statictics to know their enhancement in reading. The result of the research shows that KWL technique could enhance students reading comprehension in term of raising students achievement in the case of Dnding out: (a) explicit information; (b) reference of pronouns; (c) words meaning; (d) main idea in the paragraph; and (e) implicit information in the text. It means that the KWL can improve the students comprehen- sion in comprehending English texts optimally.     Keywords: KWL teaching technique, students, reading comprehen- sion

Abstract

After a year more of living with COVID-19, the teachers’ and students’ resilience is still demanding, particularly regarding language online learning. Both parties must keep struggling to fulfill the learning requirements in times of crisis. One of the challenges in language issues is teaching English for Specific Purpose (ESP) in higher education during emergency remote learning (ERL) including teaching ESP at Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang in 2020-2021. At these times, ESP teachers have to design the materials by taking a lot of consideration regarding the students’ needs, goals, learning model, activities, tools, and feedback that met the emergency due to Coronavirus outbreak. They planned, implemented, and evaluated the learning process until they can find the best ones for the students. This study was a survey research with 23 participants of ESP lecturers. This article presented some best practices of teaching ESP in the online mode during ERL as the best experience of ESP lecturers, in the hope that it will be able to give some new insights for fellow educators to help them to provide better learning experiences for the students.

Abstract

 Introduction:  Exclusive breastfeeding is the process of feeding infants in the form of breast milk alone without other additional foods until the baby is 6 months old. Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the determinants of exclusive breastfeeding practices. Methods: The design of this research is a cross sectional study. Purposive Sampling 125 mothers with child aged < 24 months. Data were collected between June and August 2022. Statistical analysis using chi square test, multivariate logistic regression was used to identify the determinants of the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Results: Determinants of exclusive breastfeeding are enabling factors use of health services (p value = 0.000; Exp.B = 2, 207); reinforcing factors : husband's support (p value = 0.001, Exp (B) = 7,800); and  the role of health workers (p value = 0.002, Exp (B) = 11.833). Conclusion: There is a relationship between  enabling factors and reinforcing factors with exclusive breastfeeding in rural communities. It is necessary to immediately implement and enforce a joint policy between the government, health workers, empowering family support by increasing awareness and creating a supportive environment for the success of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Saat ini, proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan di kelas dituntut untuk bisa membantu mahasiswa mengembangkan kemampuan mahasiswa di abad 21 yaitu memiliki kemampuan berkolaborasi, berpikir kreatif, berkomunikasi, dan berpikir kritis. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang bisa diterapkan yaitu Project-Based Learning (PjBL). Model ini bersifat students-centered learning dan efektif meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam ranah High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa jauh persepsi mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan model pembelajaran Project-Based Learning berupa social media video pada mata kuliah Pendidikan Budaya Anti Korupsi (PBAK) mahasiswa Jurusan Keperawatan, Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang. Jumlah partisipan penelitian ini adalah 81 mahasiswa Tingkat 1 di kelas A dan B Tahun Akademik 2022/2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan mix-method dengan data berupa kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Online survey dan written interview digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian yang kemudian akan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil survey menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memiliki persepsi yang positif dan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan terhadap penerapan PjBLdi masa post-pandemic. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa PjBL bisa menjadi salah satu alternatif solusi dalam proses pembelajaran yang lebih efektif di Pendidikan Tinggi Vokasi Kesehatan, terutama di masa post-pandemic.

Abstract

Students' 21st-century talents, including their English language skills, must be cultivated in this increasingly globalized period. According to previous studies, this application is one of the finest approaches for English education. It is also popular for facilitating successful English learning, however, research on the usage of Tik Tok in the context of ESP, notably in English for Midwifery courses, is still lacking. The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions of utilizing Tik Tok for English learning in the post-pandemic era. This study included 61 students from the Midwifery Department at Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang during the academic year of 2022/2023. To collect data, online questionnaires and written interviews were provided to the students. The findings revealed that the students had a favorable attitude toward using Tik Tok to learn English.  This study examined students' perspectives on Tik Tok in English language acquisition in the context of ESP, specifically English for Midwifery. It is also suggested that Tik Tok be used as a learning media because it has been shown to be useful in assisting students in getting the chunk of learning objectives that positively impact their English skills, particularly in the ESP environment.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan lapisan tipis Sn(S0,4Te0,6) sebagai bahan semikonduktor dengan teknik evaporasi vakum. Peneliti dapat mengetahui pengaruh variasi spacer terhadap kualitas lapisan tipis dan juga mengetahui struktur kristal, parameter kisi, morfologi permukaan, dan komposisi kimia lapisan tipis. Proses preparasi lapisan tipis Sn(S0,4Te0,6) dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik evaporasi vakum yang bekerja pada tekanan sekitar ~10-5 mbar dengan melakukan variasi jarak antara sumber dengan substrat atau variasi spacer. Spacer divariasi sebanyak 3 kali, yaitu 10 cm, 15 cm, dan 25 cm. Setelah didapatkan sampel lapisan tipis yang diinginkan, kemudian sampel dikarakterisasi dengan menggunakan XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) untuk mengetahui struktur kristal, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) untuk mengetahui morfologi permukaan, dan EDAX (Energy Dispersive Analysis X-Ray) untuk mengetahui komposisi kimia. Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan bahwa lapisan tipis Sn(S0,4Te0,6) dari ketiga sampel memiliki struktur kristal kubik, dengan nilai parameter kisi sampel 1 (spacer 10 cm): a = 6,011 Å; sampel 2 (spacer 15 cm): a = 6,048 Å; sampel 3 (spacer 25 cm): a = 6,363 Å. Pemberian variasi spacer menyebabkan perbedaan kualitas pada sampel 1, 2, dan 3 yang ditandai dengan adanya perbedaan intensitas spektrum. Hasil karakterisasi SEM pada kristal Sn(S0,4Te0,6) menunjukkan bahwa morfologi permukaan sampel berupa butiran/grain dengan ukuran ~0,2 μm dan bersifat homogen. Hasil analisis EDAX lapisan tipis Sn(S0,4Te0,6) mengandung unsur Sn = 54,54 %, S = 11,01 %, Te = 34,46 % dan perbandingan molaritas Sn:S:Te adalah 1,00:0,20:0,63.Kata Kunci: teknik evaporasi vakum, lapisan tipis, semikonduktor Sn(S0,4Te0,6). AbstractThis reasearch aims to grow a thin film Sn(S0,4Te0,6) as a semicondukctor material by vacuum evaporation technic. Researcher can understand the effect of variation spacers to the quality of thin film and also understand crystal structure, latice parameter, surface morphology, and chemical composition of thin film. The process of preparation of a thin film Sn(S0,4Te0,6) was performed using vacuum evaporation technic that works at a pressure of about ~10-5 mbar by distance variation between the source of the substrate or variations spacer. Spacer was varied for 3 times, i.e 10 cm, 15 cm, and 25 cm. Having obtained a thin layer of the desired sample, then the samples were chacarterized by using XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) to determine the crystal structure, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) to determine the surface morphology, and EDAX (Edax Dispersive X-Ray Analysis) to determine the chemical composition. XRD characterization results showed that a thin film Sn(S0,4Te0,6) of all samples have kubic crystal structure, the lattice parameter values of samples 1 (spacers 10 cm): a = 6,011 Å; samples 2 (spacers 15 cm): a = 6,048 Å; samples 3 (spacers 25 cm): a = 6,363 Å. The spacer variation causes the difference in thin film quality, marked by the difference of spectrum intencity between sample 1, 2, and 3. SEM characterization results on the crystal Sn(S0,4Te0,6) showed that the morphology of the sample surface in the form of grains with a size of ~0,2 μm and homogeneus. The results of EDAX analysis of thin film Sn(S0,4Te0,6) contains elements of Sn, S, and Te with the chemical composition precentage is Sn = 54,54 %, S = 11,01 %, Te = 34,46 % and the molarity comparison of Sn:S:Te adalah 1,00:0,20:0,63.Keywords: vacum evaporation technic, thin film, semiconductor Sn(S0,4Te0,6).

Abstract

Extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) adalah sekelompok enzim yang diproduksi oleh bakteri untuk dapat resisten terhadap antibiotika termasuk sefalosporin generasi ketiga yang menjadi masalah kesehatan baik pada hewan dan manusia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keberadaan bakteri Escherichia coli penghasil ESBL serta profil resistensinya pada komponen lingkungan di sekitar peternakan broiler-ikan terintegrasi. Deteksi E. coli penghasil ESBL dan uji sensitivitas dilakukan dengan uji double disc synergy dan disc diffusion, dan hasil interpretasi mengacu pada The European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing. Sebanyak 19 isolat E. coli penghasil ESBL diisolasi dari sampel swab kloaka, ikan, dan lingkungan pada suatu peternakan broiler-ikan terintegrasi. Secara rinci, E. coli penghasil ESBL terdeteksi pada seluruh sampel sampel air (3/3), sampel ikan (2/2), sampel tanah (1/1), dan 86,7% sampel swab kloaka (13/15). Hasil pengujian kepekaan terhadap antibiotika menunjukkan resistensi terhadap ampisilin (100%), seftriakson (100%), siprofloksasin (68,4%), dan tetrasiklin (42,1%). Selain itu, 8 isolat yang terdiri dari sampel swab (6/13; 46,1%), air (1/3; 33,3%), dan ikan (1/2; 50,0%) teridentifikasi sebagai bakteri multi-drug resistant. Studi ini dapat menggambarkan terjadinya cemaran E. coli penghasil ESBL di lingkungan peternakan broiler-ikan terintegrasi.
