Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the economy in Indonesia and Malaysia, yet they face challenges in marketing strategies, particularly in understanding consumer psychology. This community service activity, titled “Application of Marketing Psychology to Enhance MSME Competitiveness: Indonesia–Malaysia Collaboration,” aims to improve MSME capacity through understanding consumer behavior, motivation, perception, and attitudes in marketing. The program was conducted in a hybrid format at el Royal Hotel Bandung and via Zoom Meeting, involving MSMEs from both countries as well as students and academics. The methods employed included lectures and interactive Q&A sessions to provide practical understanding. The results indicated increased participant awareness of the importance of brand storytelling, emotional engagement, and effective communication strategies. Participants began to utilize social media more strategically and build emotional connections with consumers. Cross-country collaboration enriched the exchange of experiences, combining creativity and digitalization while strengthening regional competitiveness. In conclusion, applying marketing psychology proved effective in enhancing MSME capacity and confidence to develop sustainable businesses, build strong brand identity, and foster long-term customer relationships.

Abstract

This study aimed to strengthen students’ and the general public’s understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping work and to promote future-ready competencies, including strategic upskilling and reskilling. The community-service activity was delivered in Indonesia via a Zoom Meeting webinar on 28 November 2025 titled “Shaping the Future Workforce in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” Content was prepared from key reports on AI and work. Participant registration and feedback were collected using Google Forms (Google LLC). The intervention included expert talks (industry practitioner and academic), moderated discussion, and Q&A. Evaluation used a post-webinar survey with 5 point Likert items and open-ended questions. Participants reported clearer awareness of AI-driven job changes, emerging roles, and the importance of data/AI literacy. Key themes were continuous learning, building practical portfolios, and responsible AI use (bias, privacy, and validating AI outputs). The findings rely on self-reported perceptions from a single webinar, without a pre–post test, objective skill measures, or long-term follow-up. This study offers a replicable, low-cost webinar model for workforce-readiness education and contributes to HR development and digital-talent training by translating AI trends into actionable, practical competency guidance for higher education and community partners.

Abstract

This community service (PKM) program aimed to enhance the digital competencies of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) fostered by Rumah BUMN Yogyakarta in response to rapid technological developments and increasing demands for digital transformation. Limited understanding of digital marketing, the use of e-commerce platforms, and social media management has been a major barrier preventing MSMEs from expanding their market reach and improving competitiveness. Through a training and mentoring program covering basic digital literacy, social media optimization, marketplace introduction, and digital content creation techniques, participants were equipped with practical skills that could be directly applied to their businesses. The program employed an implementation method based on interactive discussions between business actors and resource persons. Evaluation results indicated improvements in participants’ knowledge and skills in leveraging digital technologies for promotion and business management. In addition, participants were able to develop more effective digital marketing strategies tailored to the characteristics of their respective products. This program is expected to strengthen MSMEs’ capacity to adapt to the digital business ecosystem and to support local economic growth in Yogyakarta.
