Abstract

The development of Arabic knowledge and information technology, so that teachers are required to improve their teaching skills in schools and Islamic boarding schools. In the concept of knowledge management, it is explained that one of the abilities that teachers must have in teaching is the ability to improve student learning outcomes. This study aims to develop a comparative analysis between modern-based learning and classical-based learning (salafiyah), to improve the study of nahwu, shorof, and darsul lughoh Arabic studies in schools and Islamic boarding schools. The research approach used in this study is a qualitative and quantitative approach or called R & D (Research and Development). The research subjects are ustadz, teachers, students, and santri. Determination of research subjects was carried out by purposive sampling, observation, and documentation techniques. The validity of this research data using triangulation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification data. The results of the study prove that learning and teaching in the 4.0 revolution period encouraged formal and non-formal educational institutions to improve the competence of teachers or ustadz. Modern-based learning and conventional-based learning (salafiyah) are important to be creative and innovative in conveying material to students or santri. In analyzing the needs of modern and classical-based learning development, data or inputs are obtained from teachers and clerics. From the analysis of the potential and problems owned by the santri or students, they support the development of modern and classical-based learning. 20 informants chose modern and classical-based learning. The focus is on the development of modern-based learning research, to support the grammatical improvement of Arabic in Islamic boarding schools, as for the mastery of mufrodat and muhadasah in formal schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the word patterns of jama 'takṡīr, grammatical signs, and their function and position in the novel "Qātilu Hamzah" by Najib Kailani morphosyntactic theory. The data collection technique in this study used a descriptive qualitative method with the note-taking method. Meanwhile, the data analysis used descriptive morphosyntactic analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, the following findings were found. First, the pattern of jama 'takṡīr in the novel "Qātilu Hamzah" by Najib Kailani has 63 data consisting of 40 words (1 wazn) jama' takṡīr type jama 'takṡīr qillah, 19 words (6 wazn) jama' takṡīr type jama 'takṡīr kasrah, 4 words (4 wazn) jama 'takṡīr type jama' takṡīr Sigat Muntahā al-Jumū '. Second, based on its position in the sentence (syntax) jama 'takṡīr occupies three syntactic functions: Marfu', Manshub, and Majrūr. Each of these functions is further classified into several divisions including the position of Marfu' functions as Fā'il, naibul Fā'il, mubtada', khabar, ismu kana wa akhwatiha, khabaru inna wa akhwatiha, na'at wal man'ut, aṭaf, taukid, idhofah and badal. Then the position of Manshub functions as maf'ul bih, maf'ul muthlaq, maf'ul liajlih, maf'ul fiih, maf'ul ma'ah, mustatsna bi illa, hal, tamyiz, munaada, khabaru kaana wa akhwatiha, ismu inna wa akhwatiha, na'at wal man'ut, aṭaf, taukid, idhofah and badal. Then finally the position of Majrur served as Majrur bi harfi Jarr, and idhofah.

Abstract

The development of the Arabic language curriculum is increasingly following the Ministry of Religion curriculum. On the one hand, the teacher has not been innovative in teaching the material to students. This study aims to analyze neuroscience-based Arabic learning media at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. This type of research uses qualitative methods, and the nature of this research is to seek accurate and total information at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The subjects of this study consisted of students and teachers of class X. The object of this research was teaching Arabic at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation, and documentation methods. data validity using triangulation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification data. The results of the study prove that Neuroscience-based Arabic learning media responds to students in facilitating learning Arabic, accelerating vocabulary memorization (mufrodat), and practicing reading, writing, listening, and speaking (muhadasah), during the COVID-19 period. The implications of this learning media, as an alternative to understanding mufrodat and muhadasah online learning during the COVID-19 period and in the face-to-face period. Because the media that is taught to students makes it easy, and fun. Keywords: Arabic, COVID-19, Theacing Media, Neuroscience. Abstrak Pengembangan kurikulum bahasa Arab semakin maju mengikuti kurikulum Kemenag. Di satu sisi guru belum berinovatif dalam mengajarkan materi kepada siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis media pembelajaran bahasa Arab berbasis neurosains di SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, serta sifat penelitian ini mencari informasi secara akurat dan totalitas di SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari siswa dan guru kelas X. Objek penelitian ini adalah pengajaran bahasa Arab di SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi. analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman, yaitu dengan data reduction, data display, dan data conclusion drawing/verification. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa media pembelajaran Bahasa Arab berbasis Neurosains merespons peserta didik dalam memudahkan belajar Bahasa Arab, mempercepat penghafalan kosa kata (mufrodat) dan praktek membaca, menulis, mendengar, serta berbicara (muhadasah), di masa COVID-19. Implikasi media pembelajaran ini, sebagai alternatif pemahaman mufrodat dan muhadasah pembelajaran online di masa COVID-19 dan di masa tatap muka. Karena media yang adiajarkan kepada siswa memudahkan, dan menyenangkan. Kata kunci: Bahasa Arab, COVID-19, Media Pengajaran, Neurosains.

Abstract

The paper tries to elaborate the ideas of Hisham Sharabi on Neo-patriarchy culture and its relevance to the current situations. He perceived that Neo-patriarchy as one of main causes of the Arab crisis. According to him, the Arab societies in general did not adopt modernism in its real form. Therefore, rather transforming into modern society they turned into “distorted modernism.” The data of this research particularly are Sharabi’s works that were published during 1980s as crucial period of his intellectual journey. The paper found three major conclusions on neo-patriarchy culture postulated by Sharabi: 1) neo-patriarchy culture is the real form of Arab’s failure in transforming its societies into modern one, it reflected such as in authoritarian political system, economic dependent and social-political fragmentation; 2) criticism is pre-conditions for modern Arab societies’ transformation. One of the efforts to achieve real modernism according to Sharabi is to deconstruct some distorted definitions of democracy, civil society, etc., and build fresh meaning of the terms.

Abstract

يهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة مفهوم الحريّة عند أحمد شوقي في قصيدته المعنونة بعنوان يا أيها السائل ما الحرية، باستخدام النظرية التاريخية الجديدة لستيفن غرينبلات (Stephen Greenblatt)، والكشف عن الخلفية التاريخية للاستعمار المصري وصلته بشعر أحمد شوقي، مما أدى إلى ظهور مفهوم معنى الاستقلال المرتبط بأحداث مصر التي حدثت في ذلك الوقت. الطريقة المستخدمة هي الطريقة الوصفية، وجمع بيانات هذا البحث، من خلال العملية التالية: ١) قراءة النص بشكل متكرر، ٢) ترجمة نص شعري، ٣) تسجيل جمل متعلقة بالأشياء الشكلية، ٤) تصنيف البيانات على أساس الأهداف. ويكون تحليل بيانات البحث من خلال المراحل التالية: ١) قراءة النص بالتوازي، ٢) عرض البيانات والمناقشة، ٣) عرض النتائج من نتائج التحليل. تظهر نتائج البحث حول مفهوم الحرية في شعر يآ أيها السائل ما الحرية: أولاً، تتأثر خصائص كتابة الشعر وأعمالها بالخلفية التاريخية التي عاشها المؤلف. ثانيًا، يمكن تحديد الظروف الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والسياسية للأمة في الأعمال الأدبية من خلال عملية الدراسة التاريخية الجديدة. ثالثًا، هناك ثلاثة مفاهيم لمعنى الحرية عند أحمد شوقي في قصيدة يآ أيها السائل ما الحرية، وهي: ١) الحريّة كشيء قيم ومقدس، ٢) الحريّة كمصدر للقوة الوطنية ، ٣) الحريّة كشكل من أشكال التضحية. الكلمات المفتاحية : الاستقلال؛ شعر أحمد شوقي؛ النظرية التاريخية الجديدة؛ الاستعمار.Abstract:This research aims to examine the independence concept in Ahmad Syauqi’s poetry entitled Yā Ayyuhā As-Sāil mā Al-Ḥuriyyah based on the theory of New Historicism by Stephen Greenblatt. This research tried to reveal the historical background of Egyptian colonialism and its relevance to Ahmad Syauqi's poetry, thus giving the meaning concept of independence a meaning related to the events at the time. Formally, the independence concept is coupled with the theory of New Historicism. The method used is descriptive-qualitative, collecting research data through the following process; 1) reading the text repeatedly, 2) translating the poetry text, 3) recording sentences related to formal objects, and 4) classifying the data based on the purpose. Meanwhile, research data analysis was carried out through the following stages; 1) reading the text in parallel, 2) presenting data and discussion, and 3) presenting conclusions from the results of the analysis. The results of the study on the concept of independence in the poem Yā Ayyuhā As-sāil Mā Al-ḥuriyyah showed that the characteristics and works of poetry are influenced by the historical background experienced by the author. Secondly, a nation's social, economic, and political conditions can be identified in literary works through the New Historicism study process. Thirdly, there are three concepts of the meaning of independence based on Ahmad Syauqi’s poetry, ‘Yā Ayyuhā As-sāil Mā Al-ḥuriyyah’, namely: 1) independence as something precious and sacred, 2) independence as a source of national strength, and 3) independence as a form of sacrifice.

Abstract

This research aims to 1) define the washfī phrase in the translated Arabic novel of Girls of Riyadh by Marilyn Booth, 2) describe the technique, method, and quality of translation, 3) to define the ideology of the washfī phrase. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The respondents evaluated the accuracy, acceptability, and readability of the translation result. This research data resourced with formal and material objects. The material object consists of two Arabic and English version novels. The formal object consists of the washfī phrase of both the novels at once questionnaire. The result of this research there are two kinds of techniques, they are: 1) single variant technique, 2) couplet variant technique. They are 11 techniques: 1) literal 3, 2) established equivalent 3, 3) reduction 1, 4) deletion 3, 5) borrowing 1, 6) generalization 1, 7) particularization 2, 8) variation 4, 9) adaptation 1, 10) addition 1, 11) discursive creation 2, 12) linguistic compression 1, 13) modulation 2. Couplet variant techniques are: 1) deletion+literal 1, 2) modulation+addition 1, 3) modulation+literal 1, 4) particularization + borrowing 1, 5) linguistic compression + particularization 2. This washfī phrase translation has high accuracy levels score 3, high acceptability 2, and low legibility levels 1.

Abstract

The translation process is an activity of transferring one language to another, from the translation process the researcher examines the translation techniques and translation quality of the collection of translation poems by Nizar Qabbani entitled Asyhadu An La Imraata Illa Anti. The methodological foundation that the researcher uses is a qualitative method. In this study, the researcher found 160 Idhafi phrases which were translated using 15 translation techniques, and 2 translation techniques that had good quality in conveying the intent, message, and purpose to the reader into the target language. That is, the equivalent technique generally has the highest value on three aspects of assessment for the quality of translation, among others, the accuracy aspect has a score of 83.3%, then the acceptability aspect has a score of 85.7%, and in the readability aspect, it has a score of 78.6% for further research. The researcher can discuss in more detail the translation method of Nizar Qabbani's Poetry.

Abstract

The political turmoil in Tunisia at the end of 2010 opened the door to the democratization of Arab countries. This event, widely known as The Arab Spring, presented a dream for the Arab community to live a better life under a democratic system. However, after a decade of progress, only Tunisia has succeeded in consolidating its democracy among the Arab countries that have been affected by the political turmoil. This paper tries to read the success factors for Tunisia in consolidating its democracy by using the theory of democracy from Robert Dahl, Jack Snyder, and Georg Sorensen. This study concludes that democracy in Tunisia is already included in the category of matured democracy according to Snyder's theory or has entered the category in which a democratic culture has begun to develop (Sorensen) and fulfills the elements of a democratic state according to Dahl. This success is inseparable from internal and external factors. The internal factor is the foundation of a civil society built before The Arab Spring and the openness of viewpoints of political actors after the political upheaval. Meanwhile, the external factor is the absence of America as the dominant actor in Tunisia because Tunisia is considered a ferry country. Tunisia also proves that Islam and democracy can go hand in hand, and this is a refutation of the pessimistic views of the scholars on Islam and democracy that can go hand in hand.

Abstract

The translation from Arabic into Indonesian on the Islamic field has its long history. However, researches on the subject are a little bit rare. Therefore, the study of the item using a modern approach is required. This research described the use of amplification and descriptions techniques in the translation of Arabic phrases in the reading of Matan al-Ghayah wa al-Taqrib by Ahmad Ma'ruf Asrori. Besides, this paper aimed to describe the quality of the text that is seen from the aspect of readability. This research used a qualitative analysis combined with a quantitative data approach. The data were selected and classified based on procedures of translation techniques. The results showed that based on the amplification techniques there were 35 data in Matan al-Ghayah wa al-Taqrib found 35 which can be divided into four Arabic phrases based as follows: 1) 'atfy phrases are 12 data, 2) idhafy phrases are 13 data, 4) syibhu al-jumlah phrases are 5 data, and 5) adjective phrases are 5 data. Whereas in the description technique, the researchers found 31 data divided into five Arabic phrases based on their constituent elements, namely the 'atfy phrase 12 data, idhafy phrase 12 data, ‘adady phrase 3 data, syibhu al-jumlah phrase 3 data, and adjective phrase 2 data. From the translation quality, it showed that the use of these two techniques could be seen from the assessment of the readability aspects of 42 respondents. It rated 52% high readability on the amplification technique, and 56% high readability on the description technique. It means that the translator used more of these two techniques frequently rather than other techniques. It assumed that amplification and description techniques are much more applicable in the translation of Arabic books into Indonesian due to its acceptance of the cultural dimension of the targeted language.
