Abstract

Abstract The development of Islamic fintech has brought about significant changes in contemporary muamalah practices. Now, economic transactions are governed by algorithms and digital systems in addition to conventional contracts. The purpose of this study is to explain how muamalah (business ethics) values, especially amanah (trust) and justice, are transformed and utilized within the Islamic digital financial ecosystem. This study investigates the meaning and experiences of users, application developers, and Islamic fintech regulators in Cirebon City using an interpretive qualitative approach based on the Islamic hermeneutic paradigm. The DSN-MUI Fatwa, OJK guidelines, and the internal code of ethics of Islamic fintech companies are data sources collected thru digital, observation, interviews, and documentanalysis. The research results indicate that personal honesty and algorithmic transparency are digital trust values. However, the value of justice (ʿadl) can be described as fair access to sharia financial services, a just financing system, and proportional risk mechanisms. However, the research also found conflicts between technological success and the principles of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, particularly in terms of contract clarity, sincerity of intention, and moral accountability in automated transactions. This study helps develop the concept of "Digital Muamalah Ethics," which is an interpretation of Islamic moral values into economic practices that utilize technology. While theoretically allowing us to better understand Islamic financial ethics in the digital age, practically it offers suggestions to sharia fintech developers and regulators for creating systems that are civilized and compliant with digital regulations. Keywords: Business ethics, trust, justice, Islamic fintech, Islamic digital economy, and Islamic hermeneutics.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The growing phenomenon of online shopping among Generation Z Muslims signals a major shift in consumption patterns in the digital age. The purpose of this study is to analyze the excessive online shopping behavior (binge drinking) of Generation Z Muslims based on the principles of Islamic consumption, namely Israf (excessiveness), Tabjir (spending), and Maslaha (profit). The approach used is descriptive and qualitative, with data collection methods through interviews with 12 Muslim students who actively shop on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, TikTok Shop, and Tokopedia. The results show that accessibility, promotions, and the influence of influencers are key factors that determine consumer behavior. However, some respondents also stated that they consciously apply the values of “qana'ah” (sufficiency) and “tawazun” (balance) to control their shopping behavior. From an Islamic economic perspective, excessive consumption violates the principles of goodness and efficiency of wealth, while balanced consumption reflects compliance with Sharia teachings. This study highlights the importance of financial literacy and spiritual development in accordance with Sharia law so that the younger generation can adopt wise and ethical consumption patterns in the digital age.

Advances in digital technology have brought about significant changes in various economic sectors, including the halal industry. Digitalization plays a crucial role in increasing competitiveness, efficiency, and expanding the market for halal businesses in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the impact of digitalization on the growth of the halal industry in Indonesia and identify the opportunities and challenges faced during the digital transformation process. The strategy employed in this study is a qualitative approach through library research. Information was obtained from various secondary sources, such as academic articles, books, scientific journals, and reports from relevant institutions discussing digitalization and the halal industry. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach through the review and interpretation of various pieces of information related to the research issue. The research findings indicate that digitalization has a positive effect on the growth of the halal industry by opening market access, improving operational efficiency, strengthening information transparency, and increasing consumer trust in halal products. Digital technology also assists in the halal certification process and the development of halal MSMEs to be more competitive in the digital economy. However, the implementation of digitalization still faces several challenges, such as low digital literacy, a lack of technological infrastructure, and the need for skilled human resources. Therefore, synergy between the government, business actors, and various stakeholders is very important to optimize the use of digital technology in supporting the development of the halal industry in Indonesia.

The growth of the halal food industry in Indonesia presents significant economic opportunities, but also requires young entrepreneurs who are able to adapt to technological advances and global markets. In this context, Generation Z is considered capable of developing halal entrepreneurship through innovation, digital literacy, and a sharia-based entrepreneurial approach. The purpose of this study is to identify the opportunities, preparations, and challenges faced by Gen Z in developing halal food businesses in Indonesia. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach and utilized a literature review method, examining halal industry reports from the past five years, as well as national and international journals. Content analysis techniques were used to examine halal industry trends, the entrepreneurial characteristics of Generation Z, and the skills required by halal entrepreneurs. However, challenges remain, including limited understanding of the halal assurance system, access to capital, and practical business experience. This study concludes that strengthening the halalpreneurship ecosystem through entrepreneurship education, halal certification, digital literacy, and collaboration between the government, industry, and universities are important strategies to encourage the emergence of competitive and sustainable young halalpreneurs in supporting the growth of the national halal economy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the business feasibility and readiness of micro enterprises in applying for halal certification, focusing on a case study of mobile grass jelly drink vendors. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects of this study consist of two vendors who have been running their businesses for a considerable period. Data were collected through direct interviews. The results show that the business is feasible in terms of economic and operational aspects, as indicated by its sustainability since 2006 and the existence of regular customers. However, in terms of management and legal aspects, the business still faces limitations, such as incomplete financial records and the absence of business legality. Regarding halal certification readiness, the vendors are aware of its importance but still lack sufficient understanding of the procedures and administrative requirements. In conclusion, there is a gap between the economic feasibility of the business and its administrative readiness for halal certification. This study is expected to provide an overview of micro-enterprise conditions and contribute to improving halal certification readiness.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a strategic driver of change across various industrial sectors, including the halal industry. The adoption of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, and digital platforms, has not only improved operational efficiency but also reshaped the competency requirements of human resources (HR). This study aims to analyze the influence of digital transformation on HR competency development, identify its implications for HR performance, and formulate adaptive competency development strategies to support digital transformation in the halal industry. The study employed a qualitative method using a library research approach by examining scientific articles, academic books, institutional reports, government documents, and regulations related to digital transformation and the halal industry. Data were analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, thematic categorization, and literature synthesis. The findings indicate that digital transformation acts as a driving force in enhancing digital competencies, halal competencies, and soft skills, which subsequently improve productivity, operational efficiency, service quality, data-driven decision-making, and halal product innovation. Nevertheless, the implementation of digital transformation continues to face several challenges, including digital competency gaps, resistance to change, limited training opportunities, data security issues, and unequal technology adoption among halal industry stakeholders. Therefore, integrated human resource development strategies through digital upskilling, reskilling, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and the strengthening of a digital organizational culture are essential to ensure that digital transformation enhances the sustainable competitiveness of the halal industry.
