Abstract

Abstract

The dance piece entitled Langkah Tanpa Suara is inspired by the lived experience of a deaf individual confronting limitations in verbal communication. This work serves as an artistic expression of the resilience and determination exhibited by this person in navigating life, despite often being underestimated by society. The creative process employed data collection and field observation to gain insight into the lives of the deaf community, followed by movement exploration and improvisation as foundational steps; the development of choreographic structure; and periodic evaluation. Technically, the work is performed by seven dancers and features a socially driven, dramatic theme. The narrative is enhanced through the incorporation of sequenced music that aligns with the movement progression, thereby enriching the emotional and dramatic expressiveness of the performance.

Abstract

The Rang Babanjuang dance is inspired by a cultural phenomenon in the Dharmasraya region, specifically on the Dareh River, namely the activities of farmers in building gaduang-gaduang (a kind of structure) in rice fields and plantations. The construction of gaduang-gaduang embodies the values of togetherness, one of which is mutual cooperation. This dance expresses how farmers carry out their work cooperatively, embodying the values of togetherness. Rang Babanjuang is a contemporary group dance with an abstract style and cultural theme, utilizing dance movements and techniques. To interpret ideas in accordance with the concept being developed, this work uses the methods of Alma M. Hawkins, namely data collection and field observation, exploration, improvisation, formation, and evaluation. This work involves seven male dancers.

Abstract

HeLa cancer cells are cervical cancer cells due to Human Papillomavirus (HPV 18) infection and thus have different properties from normal cervical cells. In recent decades, the number of plant species used in alternative medicine for cervical cancer-related purposes has increased. This systematic review aims to facilitate the review of the potential bioactive compounds of plant medicines and analyze how medicinal plants affect cancer cells. Scientific related questions, databases to be used, selection of keywords, inclusion and exclusion criteria, definition of results and conclusions of selected articles are all elements included in this research search strategy. Eight articles met the inclusion criteria and examined plant-derived compounds for their toxicity to HeLa cell lines. The bioactive compounds of this plant inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the non-communicable diseases of global concern the world. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide, and is the highest cause of death in both men and women at 18% of the world's 9.9 million cancer deaths. Efforts to prevent and cure cancer include using chemotherapy and anti-cancer drugs. Plants are rich in secondary metabolites which are byproducts of plant metabolism that have proven to be useful for the discovery and development of many medicines’ discovery and development of medicines. This article aims to review the potential of plant bioactive compounds that play a role in anticancer activity in lung cancer A549 cell line. In this journal review we used PubMed Centre database to identify articles published between 2014 and 2024. 10 studies were obtained from keywords concerning extracts bioactive compounds of plants used as lung anticancer against A549 cell line. From the results obtained, it was reported that plants containing active compounds such as polyphenols, terpenoids (oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, betulinate, ferruginol), flavonoids (tiliroside), and alkaloids can act as anticancer agents and are proven to inhibit the growth of lung cancer A549 cell line.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the highest causes of death from non-communicable diseases and is the second leading cause of death in the world after lung cancer. Cancer treatment causes bad side effects for the body, so researchers are currently looking for compounds with anticancer properties that come from plants. Plants contain secondary metabolites that act as antioxidants and anticancer, making them a potential source of cancer drugs. This article was written to determine the potential and content of various herbal plants as cell proliferation agents against breast cancer T474 cells. We collected articles from previous studies that had been conducted on this topic using the PubMed database in our review and selected twelve articles published in the last ten years with a period of 2014-2024. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that plants contain antioxidant compounds such as alkaloids and flavonoids which can act as anticancer agents and inhibit the growth of breast cancer.
