Abstract

Background: Fatigue is a condition characterized by a decrease in work efficiency and endurance. BCAA capsule contains of three kinds of essential amino acids, those were leucine 2275 mg, isoleucine 1137.5 mg, and valine 1137.5 mg, each of which plays an important role in protein synthesis and energy system for activity. This study aimed to examine the effect of supplement administration of BCAA to reduce fatigue levels in medical students of Sebelas Maret University (UNS). Methods: This was an experimental research with pretest-posttest group design. It was conducted at Faculty of Medicine UNS on December 13th, 2012. Subjects (n=40) were randomly selected from list of current medical students at preclinical level. Subjects who had been fasting for eight hours, then, were randomly arranged into two groups: (1) control group whose fatigue levels were measured twice in resting condition at10-minute interval, and (2) treatment group whose fatigue levels were measured before and 10 minutes after BCAA administration. Fatigue referred to decreasing concentration determined by reaction time to light stimuli. Pretest-postest fatigue levels for each group were analyzed using paired sample t-tests, whereas posttest fatigue levels between the two groups were analyzed using independent sample t-test. Data analysis were performed using SPSS 17.0 for Windows. Results: Mean fatigue levels of control group at first and second measurement, each, were 270.1±15.3 and 255.5±10.9 millisecond. While mean fatigue levels of treatment group at pretest and after BCAA administration were 268.9 ± 14.8 and 211.7±38.8 millisecond, consecutively. Analysis of paired sample t test of  pretest-postest fatique levels in both groups, each,  showed significant difference (p = 0.001 for control group and p < 0.001 for treatment group), while analysis of independent t test of posttest fatigue levels between the two groups showed that the posttest fatigue levels between the two groups also differed significantly (p <0.001). Conclusions: BCAA administration significantly reduced fatigue levels in medical students of UNS. Fatigue levels were significantly shorter in subjects administered BCAA supplement than those of control group who did not take BCAA supplement. Keywords: BCAA suplement, fatigue

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Patient-reported outcomes are increasingly valuable for assessing the effectiveness of clinical interventions from the patient's perspective. This study aims to investigate the differences in the correlation between radiological measurements and 1-year postoperative SRS-22r domain scores in early (EA) and middle adolescence (MA) patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), as well as analyze the correlation of these outcomes across different Lenke curve types. Methods: We reviewed records of 87 female AIS patients who underwent scoliosis corrective surgery, collecting data on age, body mass index, preoperative and postoperative radiographic measurements, and 1-year postoperative quality of life assessments, including function, pain, self-image, and satisfaction scores from the SRS-22r questionnaire. Patients were categorized into subgroups based on age and the number of curves. The Spearman correlation test evaluated correlations between radiographic measures and SRS-22r domain scores across these subgroups. Results: Significant correlations were found between self-image and preoperative main apical vertebral translation (AVT), Cobb angle, and trunk shift, with stronger associations in EA than MA. Pain had a weak inverse correlation with the postoperative main Cobb angle, notably in the one-curve group and more strongly in EA. Satisfaction scores decreased with age and were lower in the two-curve group and EA. Conclusions: Cobb angle correction in AIS patients strongly correlates to postoperative self-image, particularly in Lenke type 2, 3, and 6. In Lenke type 1 and type 5, greater correction of the Cobb angle is associated with increased postoperative pain.

Abstract

The quality and efficiency of healthcare services have changed significantly due to advances in digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the medical field. However, these advances also present various legal, ethical, and social obstacles that require serious consideration. This study investigates the application of AI in the medical field from a progressive and responsive legal perspective. Using normative juridical methods and qualitatively analyzed secondary data. This study aims to establish adaptive regulations that can adapt to the changing nature of technology while protecting the integrity of medical services and patient rights. This study also shows the importance of integrating human and spiritual values ??into the application of medical technology to ensure that healthcare services are holistic and focused on patient welfare. The study findings suggest that the establishment of a safe, equitable, and sustainable digital health ecosystem depends on the collaboration of policymakers, medical personnel, technology experts, and the public. Therefore, to optimize the advantages of technology and reduce risks in the future healthcare sector, it is important to establish responsive and inclusive regulations based on lex specialist.

Abstract

Copyright on songs is one component of intellectual property rights that is philosophically based on the theory of naturalism and the theory of interests. However, in the Indonesian context, it also needs to be understood through the Marhaenism approach which emphasizes social justice. The National Collective Management Institution which was established based on Government Regulation Number 56 of 2021 and Law Number 28 of 2014 is tasked with managing copyright licenses. However, its existence raises various problems, including the potential for monopoly, lack of transparency, and limited access for independent music creators. The purpose of this study is to determine how copyright regulations are implemented in Indonesia. Using normative legal methods and secondary data, this study proposes a hybrid licensing model that will reform the copyright licensing system in Indonesia by implementing a progressive and responsive legal approach. This model will allow creators to choose between collective licenses and individual licenses based on digital technology. This reform is expected to realize distributive justice, more adaptive legal protection, and respect for the moral and economic rights of creators in a balanced manner

Abstract

A party's liability for unlawful acts committed by another person under its responsibility is established by the principle of vicarious liability in civil law. This principle is crucial in determining the hospital's liability for malpractice committed by medical personnel under its supervision in the context of health services. This investigation employed a normative legal method that considered pertinent legal literature, doctrines, laws, and regulations. The results reveal that Article 1367 of the Civil Code normatively establishes a general basis for liability for the actions of others in a dependent relationship, whereas Article 46 of Law Number 44 of 2009 concerning Hospitals explicitly mandates that hospitals are accountable for the negligence of health workers employed in their institutions. Conversely, the practical implementation of this principle continues to encounter numerous impediments, including the absence of sufficient technical regulations, the challenge of substantiating formal employment relationships, and the absence of consistent jurisprudence. It is anticipated that the principle of vicarious liability will be enforced more effectively, which will enhance legal protection for patients, promote institutional accountability, and establish a health service system that is more transparent, fair, and prioritizes patient safety.
