Abstract

Capital goods are man-made products that play a crucial role in the production of commodities or services. This study conducts a comprehensive analysis, both in the long-term and short-term, to examine the influence of national income, exchange rates, foreign exchange reserves, and inflation on capital imports. Utilizing secondary data in the form of time series from Bank Indonesia and BPS (Central Statistics Agency) spanning from Q1 2005 to Q4 2020, the research employs the Error Correction Model (ECM) analysis technique. The findings reveal that, in the long term, national income and inflation exhibit positive yet insignificant effects, whereas exchange rates exert a considerable negative impact, and foreign exchange reserves yield a substantial positive effect. Interestingly, in the short term, national income, exchange rates, foreign exchange reserves, and inflation demonstrate no discernible impact on Indonesia's imports of capital goods.

Abstract

Income inequality is one of the structural challenges faced by many countries, including Indonesia. This phenomenon reflects an unequal distribution of income across regions, which can lead to social injustice and hinder the process of economic development. This study aims to analyze the effects of the Human Development Index (HDI), economic growth, and unemployment rates on income inequality across 34 provinces in Indonesia over the period 2019–2024. The method employed is panel data regression analysis. The findings reveal that the unemployment rate has a positive and significant effect on income inequality. The HDI shows a significant negative effect, while economic growth does not exhibit a statistically significant impact. These findings highlight the importance of policies that prioritize job creation and human development in addressing inequality. Economic growth strategies should also be designed to be more inclusive.

Abstract

Abstract: This community service activity was carried out as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, focusing on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sei Bejangkar Plantation Village, Sei Balai Subdistrict, Batubara Regency. The primary issue faced by local entrepreneurs was the lack of product branding, poor packaging, and limited understanding of digital marketing strategies. To address these problems, the service team implemented a participatory approach through observation, socialization, training, and direct mentoring. The program aimed to strengthen the creative business management capacity of MSMEs by introducing concepts of brand identity, product design, and the use of digital platforms such as Google Maps Business, WhatsApp Business, Facebook, and Instagram. The activities were carried out for one month with active participation from both local entrepreneurs and village officials. The results of the program showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of branding and digital marketing, as well as their ability to apply creative management in daily business operations. Several MSMEs successfully created logos, product labels, and online promotional accounts, resulting in broader market reach. In addition, participants demonstrated higher motivation and creativity in developing new product ideas. This activity also strengthened social collaboration between universities, local governments, and communities as an effective model for sustainable rural economic empowerment. The implementation of creative business management combined with digital literacy proved to be a practical and impactful strategy to support local economic independence in the digital era.
