Abstract

Pada makalah ini diberikan peningkatan unjuk kerja model sistem pembangkit listrik untuk memanfaatkan energi aliran irigasi Way Tebu yang ada di Desa Banjar Agung Udik, Kecamatan Pugung, Kabupaten Tanggamus dengan menggunakan turbin helik. Model sistem pembangkit listrik ini menggunakan turbin helik dengan bentuk sudu yang simetri yaitu NACA 0030, panjang chord 41,8 cm, jumlah sudu 3 buah,  dan kemiringan sudu turbin 62 o.. Peningkatan unjuk kerja model sistem pembangkit listrik dengan menggunakan saluran pengarah, dimana hasil pengujian menunjukkan saluran pengarah ini dapat meningkatkan kecepatan aliran air dari 31,1 % sampai 38 %. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan unjuk kerja turbin helik dengan menggunakan sudu turbin tiga buah, dihasilkan daya poros maksimum turbin dengan saluran 240,7 W,  dimana tanpa saluran 98,74 W. Daya listrik maksimum yang dibangkitkan dengan menggunakan model sistem pembangkit listrik dengan saluran ini juga meningkat menjadi 127,68 W dengan efisiensi sistem 39,17% terhadap daya hidro (energi kinetik air) dimana sebelumnya 26,01 W dengan efisiensi 26,34 %.

Abstract

Buah pala (Myristica fragrans) di Desa Pesawaran Indah, Kabupaten Pesawaran, umumnya hanya dijual secara gelondongan, bahkan daging buah pala terkadang dianggap sebagai limbah. Pada masa lalu daging buah pala diolah menjadi manisan pala, namun tidak berlanjut. Agar potensi pala di Desa Pesawaran Indah ini dapat dimanfaatkan dengan lebih baik, maka perlu dilakukan kegiatan berupa penyuluhan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memotivasi masyarakat agar dapat memanfaatkan pala menjadi produk olahan yang jauh bernilai ekonomis. Khalayak sasaran kegiatan ini adalah anggota KWT Al-Hidayah dan perwakilan dusun serta mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata. Kegiatan penyuluhan pemanfaatan pala dilengkapi dengan video proses pengolahan pala baik secara tradisional maupun menggunakan teknologi permesinan. Kuesioner pre test dan post test kegiatan ini diisi oleh 15 peserta yang dipilih secara acak. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan peserta dapat meningkatkan sekitar 56%, dari yang sebelumnya masih ragu-ragu menjadi paham akan pentingnya penggunaan teknologi mesin dalam pengembangan produk olahan buah pala setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini.

Abstract

This paper describes aerodynamic tests (wind tunnel test) for a model of secondary cabin roof (SCR) applied in BMW M3 E92 Coupe. SCR is a vehicle accessory installed on vehicle roof useful to block heats from sun while the car parking. The test were conducted at UPT-Laboratorium Aero Gas Dinamika dan Getaran (LAGG)-BPPT, PUSPITEK, Serpong, to determine lift and drag coefficient (cl and cd) of vehicle. This model with scale of 1:4.5 was tested with rigid body made by wood. The SCR model has been made from aluminium and has two kinds of type, which are A and B. The model test was carried out with the following parameters: wind speed of 15, 20 m/s, then 1,5 cm and 2,5 cm for height of SCR from roof . Before the test start, the first things that must be done is preparation the tools for test, next step is calibration of external balance in wind tunnel to obtain matrix of calibration. The inverse of this matrix named matrix of test will be used as a multiply factor to voltage measurement from result test of external balance while test start. Output from this multiply is aerodynamic forces experienced by model test. Installing SCR made some change to aerodynamic experienced by vehicle. From data of test, installing SCR type B with height 1,5 cm rom roof, the smallest cl can be obtained for each variation of velocity are 0,3 for 15 m/s and 0,29 for 20 m/s. Meanwhile,  installing SCR type A with height 2,5 cm from roof, the smallest cd be obtained for each variation of velocity are 0,368 for 15 m/s and 0,355 for 20 m/s. This results are valid if only the flow regime of two corresponding fluid are same and with the same model too.  Keywords: SCR, Aerodinamics, Wind Tunnel.

Abstract

The study of the effect of low temperature quenching cooling media on the value of toughness and types of fractures in AISI 1045 steel aims to determine the mechanical properties of increasing the value of toughness and ductility in steel. AISI 1045 steel is heated at a temperature of 850°C held for 60 minutes and then quenched quickly to a low temperature. The medium used is water. This tempering process can increase the impact energy. The impac energy value obtained at a temperature of 350°C is 18,33 Joule. Then at a temperature of 450°C it increases by 80 Joule, after that it increases again at a temperature of 550°C which is 121,33 Joule, the value increases higher at a tempering temperature of 650°C by 135,67  Joule. Observation of the type of fault shows that the higher the temperature the more ductile it can be seen from the results of the uneven and fibrous surface. Impact  energy is influenced by variations in tempering temperature. Abstract

Artikel pengabdian ini membahas pentingnya pemahaman tentang suhu ruangan dan penggunaan termostat digital untuk menghemat energi. Dalam kondisi di mana energi semakin terbatas dan mahal, meminimalkan penggunaan energi menjadi penting untuk mengurangi biaya dan menjaga lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menyajikan metode praktis untuk menghemat energi dengan mengoptimalkan suhu ruangan melalui kombinasi penggunaan ventilasi tembus, exhaust fan dan termostat digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah kepada peserta kegiatan yaitu masyarakat dusun Penagan Jaya dilanjutkan dengan diskusi. Tim PKM juga melakukan demontrasi pemasangan ventilasi, exhaust fan dan termostat digital pada ruang kamar salah satu warga. Setelah dilakukan pengumpulan data hasil pre-test dan post-test dapat disimpulkan terjadi peningkatan pemahaman warga dusun Penagan Jaya peserta pengabdian sebesar 64% dari sebelumnya yang hanya 22% . Pemahaman warga peserta kegiatan berupa pentingnya pemasangan ventilasi udara yang benar dan tepat, serta penggunaan exhaust fan yang dikombinasikan dengan termostat digital sebagai upaya mendapatkan suhu ruangan yang nyaman dengan tetap menghemat energi

Abstract

This paper presents training activities on the construction of a hydraulic ram pump were provided to the farming community of Dusun Curup, Gedong Tataan District. The training material included both theoretical and practical aspects, covering the principles of hydraulic ram pump operation, material selection, construction of the hydraulic ram pump, installation and operation in the field, and maintenance of the pump. The community's enthusiasm for participating in this training was very good, as they sought to understand the construction of the hydraulic ram pump. This can be seen from the community's serious attitude and the many questions they asked during the theoretical and practical sessions on the construction of the hydraulic ram pump. The results of this activity also increased the community's desire to apply the use of this pump to assist with their agricultural irrigation, utilizing village funds, while still requesting guidance from the implementation team of the Mechanical Engineering Deparment at the University of Lampung

Abstract

Abstract — The modification stove was designed and constructed for drying cocoa beans using biomassa as fuel. The purpose of the modification stove is to increase production of 0.6 tonnes dry cocoa beans. The thermal efficiency of the stove is determined and compared with a conventional stove using hevea brasiliensis woods as fuel. The inside wall of stove and oven were built from SK34 fire brick and ceramic paper, respectively. The outer walls were made from red brick and was coated by cement. The results show that the thermal efficiency of the modification stove is increased by 37.34% compared with the conventional stove. The fuel consumption decreases by 25 % (25 kg-product), resulting a fuel cost saving of Rp. 1.8 million/year. In addition, the total cost of the stove can be paid back in a period of 3.5 years with the service lifetime of the stove for 10 years. The moisture contents ratio of cocoa beans with drying time are obtained to predict values of diffusivity (De) over range of drying temperature 50-80 °C. the values of diffusivity obtained ranged from 62.03 × 10−10 sampai 4.55 × 10−10 m2/s for the temperature used.
