Abstract

Di kabupaten Pringsewu, industri makanan olahan berbahan dasar singkong, kedelai dan jagung merupakan produk andalan industri rumah tangga, yang menjadi sumber utama produksi untuk oleh-oleh khas Lampung. Salah satu industri terbanyaknya yaitu industri kerupuk lempit. Usaha produksi kerupuk lempit merupakan sumber penghasilan utama. Tungku penggoreng kerupuk lempit masyarakat masih konvensional karena dibuat dari bata-tanah liat dengan masa usia pakai yang pendek. Hal ini disebabkan oleh panas yang berasal dari hasil pembakaran solar atau kayu bakar yang menyebabkan dinding tungku mudah retak dan pecah. Oleh karena itu, modifikasi dan desain ulang tungku yang berbahan dasar bata tahan api perlu dibuat kembali untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Selain itu untuk mengoptimalkan panas semburan api berasal dari kompor kupu-kupu berbahan bakar solar dilakukan. Dari hasil pengukuran sudut semburan api 65° diperoleh temperatur ruang bakar utama lebih besar sekitar 110 °C dibandingkan sudut semburan api 75°. Sedangkan temperatur ruang bakar suplai lebih rendah 88 °C. Dengan demikian, kondisi temperatur pada ruang bakar utama dan ruang bakar suplai sangat tepat untuk penggorengan kerupuk lempit dimana ruang bakar utama untuk penggorengan utama hasil kerupuk lempit dan ruang bakar suplai hanya bertujuan untuk pemanasan awal bahan dasar kerupuk sebelum menjadi kerupuk lempit. Untuk mendidihkan air hingga 98,5 oC tungku masyarakat memerlukan waktu 17,1 menit, sedangkan tungkubatatahanapiselama 13,6 menit. Kata kunci:Tungkubata tahan api, kerupuk lempit, arah semburan api

Abstract

Bioethanol is ethanol made from plants such as cassava, sugarcane, sago, which are processed through hydrolysis, fermentation, distillation and dehydration processes. Lampung Province is one of the largest producers of cassava in Indonesia, with the total productivity of 5,451,312 tons in 2017, and 6,683,758 tons in 2018 or there was an increase of 22,61% compared to 2017. From this data, it is possible to produce bioethanol, where every 1 kg of cassava can produce 0,106 liters of bioethanol. This is what underlies this research to investigate the effect of blending bioethanol of 99% with pertamax and bioethanol on the engine torque. Blending bioethanol of 99% can homogeusly mix. The engine used in this study is a Kohler gasoline engine equipped with a VDAS (Versatile Data Accession System) instrument unit in determining the parameters of engine performance. The blending of bioethanol of 99% as big as 14% (E14) gave the highest value of torque at 1 rotation of dynamometer valve opening and engine speed of 2000 rpm.

Abstract

Salah satu teknologi pembakaran konvensional yang masih banyak digunakan dalam proses produksi listrik di Indonesia adalah pulverized combustion. Batu bara kualitas medium merupakan jenis batu bara yang sering digunakan dalam proses produksi listrik di Indonesia. Ketersediaan batu bara yang terbatas dapat diatasi dengan melakukan pembakaran bersama antara batu bara dengan biomassa. Penggunaan bahan bakar biomassa diharapkan dapat mengatasi ketergantungan penggunaan bahan bakar fosil. Namun karakteristik pembakaran batu bara serbuk perlu diketahui sebelum melakukan pembakaran bersama antara batu bara dengan biomassa. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh variasi ukuran batu bara serbuk terhadap profil suhu pembakaran yang dihasilkan. Kajian dilakukan menggunakan mesin coal combustion skala lab type pulverized burner dengan suhu uji yaitu 750°C, 850°C dan 950°C untuk melihat pengaruh partikel batu bara serbuk yang tanpa diayak dan yang diayak menggunakan ayakan berukuran mesh 100 dan mesh 200 terhadap profil suhu pembakaran. Pengurangan ukuran serbuk batu bara membuat kenaikan suhu semakin tinggi. Kenaikan suhu tertinggi terjadi pada serbuk batu bara ukuran mesh 200 dan suhu pembakaran 750°C yaitu sebesar 65,4°C. Waktu pembakaran tersingkat terjadi pada pembakaran serbuk batu bara mesh 200 dan suhu pembakaran 950°C, yaitu selama 120 detik.

Abstract

The energy crisis and air pollution can be coped with using very abundant Natural Zeolites available in Indonesia, particularly in Lampung. Herry Wardono has applied the zeolite on petrol and diesel engines. In this applications, Lampung's natural zeolites can significantly save fuel consumption and reduce exhaust emissions of the engines. The best results occurred in the use of chemical-physical activated zeolite. All this time, chemical activator (acidic activator) used was H2SO4 0.2 N, and  other normalities of this acid have not been tested, as well as  other types of acidic activator. In this research, acidic activators used were H2SO4 and HCl which has a normality of 0.1 N, 0.2 N, 0.3 N and 0.5 N each. The amount of adhesive pelletized zeolite used was also variated, i.e 50, 100, and 150 grams. The results showed that the adhesive pelletized zeolite activated by HCl dominate the best results, with fuel consumption savings of 8.6472% and 10.3058% in the use of 100 and 150 grams of the zeolite. Meanwhile, the highest fuel consumption savings obtained in the use of adhesive pelletized zeolite activated by H2SO4 were  6.2992% and 7.8847%.Keywords: zeolit pelet perekat, oxygen- rich combustion, prestasi mesin diesel

Abstract

          Natural zeolite is an alternative adsorbent. It needs firstly to  be activated before using it as absorbent in order to get zeolite with high adsorption capacity. Previously, the use of pelletized zeolite activated by NaOH-physic and KOH-physic with varied normalities was only performed in a diesel engine to observe the engine performance.In this study there were two kinds of activation, that is  chemical activation with NaOH activator variation on the normality of 0.25 N, 0.5 N, 0.75 N, and 1.0 N and physical activation with using  a temperature of 220 °C for 2 hours. All are made in the form of adhesive zeolite pellets with a diameter of 10 mm and a thickness of 3 mm. From the test results and analysis showed that the use of chemically activated zeolite can improve the performance of 4-stroke petrol engine when compared without using  zeolite. The best performance in this experiment obtained at the normality of 0,75 N. At road test, the pelletized zeolite can reduce the fuel consumption 23, 15 %, and 16,51 % at stationary test, and increase acceleration by 14,77 %.Keywords: zeolite adsorbent, variation of normality, activator of NaOH

Abstract

Natural Zeolite is one of alternative adsorbents. Zeolite should be firstly activated to get zeolite with high adsorption capacity. The ability of chemical-physical activated zeolite in saving fuel consumption of a diesel engine proven by Herry Wardono using NaOH and KOH with normality of 0,75N. The mass of pressed pelletized zeolite used was 100 grams and with thermal activation at 200°C for 2 hour. In this research, zeolites were activated by using thermal activation at 150°C for 1 hour and 2 hours, and 200°C for 1 hour, these pellets were packed in a frame of 50 grams, 100 grams and 150 grams, and put them in the air filter of a diesel engine for each mass, so combustion air was firstly contacted with zeolites before entering to combustion chamber. The experiments were operated at engine speeds of 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 rpm. The results showed that used of these thermal-Alkali activated zeolites could in increas the diesel engine performance. Use of 150 grams of KOH 0,75N activated zeolite that was thermally treated at 150oC for 2 hours could reduce the highest fuel consumption that was 0,0225 kg/kWh (11,211%), and as big as 0,0218 kg/kWh (10,87%) for use of 150 grams of NaOH 0,75N activated zeolite that was thermally treated at same condition. Meanwhile, the highest increase of brake power occurred for use of 100 grams of NaOH 0.75N activated zeolite that was 0,054 kW (7,667%), and as big as 0,0477 kW (6,849%) for use of 100 grams of KOH 0.75N activated zeolite. Abstract

The activated fly ash of coal as adsorbent pellets can be used to save fuel consumption. This research is done with some testing that is the runs test (road test and acceleration), stationary and emission testing. Fly Ash pellets packed in a frame and put on the air filter absolute revo 110 cc motorcycle. So before the air filter into the vehicle, it wil be contact with the pellets Fly Ash first. In this study, the most efficient types of water used is H12 Z20  and the best conditions was on the temperature 150o C and activation time of 1 hour with fuel savings in road test reached 12.69%, and fuel economy at a stationary test up to 22.65% and the reduction of travel time ( 0-80 km/h ) of 6.86%. Fly Ash pellets are able to reduce the levels of CO by 76,92 %, 19,57 % for HC levels and raise their levels of CO  by 4,36 %.Keywords : Fly ash adsorbent pellets, engine performance, exhaust gas emissions

Abstract

YEIS tube (Yamaha Energy Induction System) has been able to enhance the performance of the motorcycle. Therefore, the use of induction tube on a 4-stroke motorcycle is expected to be able to increase the volumetric efficiency of the suction stroke, so that the power (acceleration) of the engine can increase at low speed. Tests of using induction tubein a 4-stroke motorcycle is required to observe the effect of the induction tube position on its performance and emission.the engine performance tests were carried out in road tests at an average speed of 40 kph. It was conducted before and after using the induction tube, and the induction tube mountings on intake manifold were varied at positions of JS150 (15 mm from intake manifold), JS 375 (37,5 mm), and JS600 (600 mm). Each type of test was performed 3 times to get it’s average.From the results, it was found that the fuel consumption of the motorcycle could maximally reduce by 27.8% in mounting JS150 and the lowest engine consumption by 0.98% in mounting the intake manifold JS 600. The best result occurred in mounting of JS150 for all tests. JS150 is the optimal position. This due to JS150 is the closest position from intake manifold and the most farthest position from carburettor. Therefore, at mounting of JS150,  residual air and fuel mixture can be fully drawn into both the line and tube of the induction tube. In contrast,JS600 is the farthest position from intake manifold, so that the residual air and fuel mixture cannot fully be drawn into the line and tube of the induction tube, the mixture is partially drawn into carburettor and induction tube, as in branched pipe system.Keywords : induction tube, petrol engine performance, YEIS.

Abstract

Meningkatnya jumlah kendaraan bermotor yang masih menggunakan bahan bakar fosil sebagai bahan bakar utama, menyebabkan cadangan bahan bakar fosil semakin menipis. Dengan kondisi seperti ini pemerintah telah mengurangi subsidi bahan bakar dan berencana menerapkan pembatasan pemakaian bahan bakar pada kendaraan bermotor. Fly ash batu bara dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menagtasi hal di atas. Pengujian fly ash ini dilakukan dengan beberapa variasi yaitu pengujian konsumsi bahan bakar, akselerasi, dan emisi gas buang. Konsumsi bahan bakar dilakukan dengan road test (pada kecepatan rata-rata 50 km/jam menempuh jarak 5 km) dan stasioner (pada putaran mesin 8500). Pengujian akselerasi dilakukan pada0-120 km/jam, serta pengujian emisi gas buang pada putaran 1500 dan 8500 rpm. Pelet fly ash yang dibentuk menjadi pelet berdiameter 10 mm dan tebal 3 mm dengan beragam variasi air(air mineral, aquadesh, dan air sumur bor), juga variasi temperatur dan waktu aktivasi fisik (2000 C, 1500 C selama 1 jam dan 2000 C, 1500 C  selama 2 jam).Pelet fly ashtersebut dikemas dalam suatu frame dan diletakkan di dalam saringan udara kendaraan uji sepeda motor yamaha vixion 150 cc. Sehingga sebelum udara masuk ke dalam ruang pembakaran, udara terlebih dahulu terhambat dengan pellet fly ash.Dalam penelitian ini, terbukti pelet fly ash mampu menghemat konsumsi bahan bakar hingga 28,8% pada  road test, dan sebesar 25,5% pada pengujian stasioner. Akselerasi meningkat sebesar 7,3%.Disamping itu, filter pelet fly ashbatubara mampu mengurangi kadar CO hingga sebesar 26,7% pada putaran 1500 rpm dan 45,5% pada putaran 8500 rpm, mengurangi kadar HC hingga sebesar 34,8% pada putaran 1500 rpm dan 30,4% pada putaran 8500 rpm. Kata kunci : Prestasi motor bensin 4 langkah, fly ash batubara, adsorben pelet fly ash.
