Abstract

The learning of multiculturalism opens ones’ fundamental reality in society. Thisarticle aims to describe the learning of multicultural literature at school with applyingto novel “Burung-burung Rantau” (BbR), a work of Y.B. Mangunwijaya inSemiotics analysis. Indonesian multicultural literature is expected from the processof ‘Indonesianisation’ from many good cultural expressions of local colour, nation,and global-universal. With enthusiasm of posmodernisme, multicultural literaturecan pierce religion limit, culture, class, ethnic, and nation. Novel BbR expressesbrainchild multicultural past event of tissue and actors: Anggi, Neti, Bowo, andCandra. Brainchild multiculture in BbR among others covers: (1) the born of generationpost-Indonesia in educations values of multiculture, (2) the present generationthat flies freely to every where even to the foreign state or to their own world,(3) the escape from the tradition ties and local cultures even from their nationalculture so they have freedom in creativity, (4) the melting of local and nationalculture, west and east, (5) education values of multicultural pierce in ethnic limits,religion, nationality, class, and gender. Learning of multicultural literatures leadsto harmony with cultures of social transformation existences and life value changesto global culture. For that case, immediate literature teachers are needed to realizethe multicultural paradigms.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memaparkan bahasa kiasan dan bentuk stilistik dalamnovel Dukuh Paruk (RDP) dan meneliti fungsi dan tujuan penggunaan bahasa kiasandan bentuk stilistik tersebut sebagai ungkapan penulis dalam menuangkan ide-idenya.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Data dianalisis secara induktif denganmenerapkan metode membaca semiotik yang bersifat heuristik dan hermeneutik.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahasa kiasan RDP memiliki keunikan dan keaslian,yang membuktikan kompetensi Tohari dalam menggunakan bahasa. Keaslian bahasakiasan yang mendominasi RDP dapat dilihat dari gaya majas dan idiom yang indahdan beranekaragam, penuh ekspresif, asosiatif dan memiliki daya estetika. Hal inimenunjukkan bahwa Tohari adalah seorang penulis yang memiliki intelektualitastinggi. Melalui penelitian stilistik, ditarik simpulan bahwa bahasa kiasan RDPmempunyai ekspresif yang kuat sebagai media penuangan ide penulis yang tidakjauh dari latar belakang sosial historis.Kata Kunci: stilistika, bahasa figuratif, ronggeng, majas, idiom, estetik.

Abstract

The study focussed on the intertextual analysis of poems “Padamu Jua”, masterpieceof Amir Hamzah and “Doa”, masterpiece of Chairil Anwar. The study aims todescribe: (1) the intertexts relation of the poem “Padamu Jua” and “Doa”; (2) the influenceof the poem “Padamu Jua” as hypogram on the poem “Doa”; and (3) to describethe possibility of the al-Qur’an as an inspiration source. The research method is qualitativesince it uses participant observation technique. This means that the researcher getsinto the realms of data, comprehends them, and continuously systematizes the object ofstudy. The object of study is the intertextualities of the two poems while the data arequalitative types in the form of verbal word or discourse within the poem text. The resultof study shows that: (1) there is intertextual relation between the poem “Padamu Jua”and “Doa”; the poem “Padamu Jua” is as a hypogram while the poem “Doa” is as itstransformation; (2) directly or indirectly, the poem “Padamu Jua” and the poem “Doa”can be seen on the structure, the imagination use, and a slight different expression of itstheme; (3) there is a strong tendency that the two poems constitute the Indonesian sufisticbellesletters inspired by the al-Qur’an verse “Light of above Light” ( S. an-Nur: 35) asits hypogram. Therefore, the two poems are categorized as highly valuable works whichare successfully to integrate the devine and human dimension.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the dimension of sufistic in of shortstory “O, Jiwa yang Edan” masterpieces of Danarto with semiotic evaluation. Theresult of the sufistic dimension in a short story “O, Jiwa yang Edan” is on thetasawuf, terminology, understanding and hierarchy in tasawuf. At tasawuf hierarchythere are four steps which much be passed by that: (1) syari’at, (2) tarikat, (3)hakikat, and (4) makrifat. In the short story of “O, Jiwa yang Edan” the four stepsstarted from the tarikat described by leaving of enjoyment world. While the hakikatdescribed that any creature will go home to the God. Makrifat is if someone becometo recognize the reality of Allah. The understanding of tasawuf used by theauthor of short story is wahdatul syuhud.

Abstract

Sastra multikultural berhubungan dengan perubahan masyarakat global dan lokal yang menjadi pluralistik. Pengarang merespons kondisi pluralistik tersebut dan menginterpretasikannya dalam karya sastra multikultural, khususnya, yang merujuk pada posmodernisme. Banyak penulis muda menghasilkan sastra jenis tersebut. Sastra multikultural berpotensi menjadi media komunikasi internasional dan pendidikan karakter bangsa, yang mana, saat ini, para guru, pemerintah, dan tokoh masyarakat mengembangkannya. Lebih dari itu, sastra multikultural mampu melampaui batasan agama, etnis, bahasa, budaya, dan bangsa. Secara praktis, aktivitas kurikuler, ko-kurikuler, dan ekstra-kurikuler bisa menjadi medium untuk menyosialisasikan nilai-nilai multikultural melalui sastra. Lebih khusus lagi, sastra multikultural berpotensi menjadi media yang mempersatukan dan menggabungkan substansi lokal, nasional, dan internasional secara damai yang di dalamnya masyarakat bisa hidup dalam harmoni. Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan mengidentifikasikan kualitas tulisan dengan jenis-jenis seni mural untuk pendidikan karakter generasi milenial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dan simak yang dilanjutkan dengan teknik catat. Dokumentasi yang dimaksud dalam penelitian ini adalah wacana karya seni mural yang terdapat pada dinding-dinding kota yang ada di Indonesia dan di media sosial. Metode analisis data menggunakan metode padan referensial. Hasil analisis penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat lima jenis seni mural yang meliputi: mural politik, mural estetika, mural sosial budaya, mural ekonomi dan mural pendidikan. Jenis-jenis mural tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber pendidikan karakter generasi milenial. Adapun nilai pendidikan karakter generasi milenial yang terdapat di seni mural yaitu peduli lingkungan, usaha, semangat kebangsaan, cinta damai dan demokrastis. Jadi, seni mural memiliki nilai pendidikan karakter generasi milenial yang sangat beragam.Abstract:  The objective of this article is to identify the types and writing quality of mural arts with orientation of millennials character education. This is a descriptive qualitative research that utilizes documentation, observation and transcription techniques. The documentation focuses on mural artwork discourse found on walls in Indonesia and those posted in social media. The data are analysed using referential identity method. The analysis shows that there are five types of mural art found, which are: politics mural, socio-cultural mural, aesthetic mural, economics mural, and education mural. These types of murals can be used as a source of millennials character education because they contain character values of: democratic character, harmony, nationhood, determination, and environmental love. Thus, it can be concluded that mural arts have diverse character education values to be utilized in character building efforts for millenials

Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan memetakan wacana humor di media sosial facebook yang berorientasi pendidikan karakter. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Datanya berupa wacana humor berkarakter di media sosial. Adapun sumber datanya berupa wacana humor di media sosial. Data-data penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan teknik dokumentasi dan simak yang dilanjutkan dengan teknik catat. Analisis data menggunakan metode padan referensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat delapan jenis humor di media sosial yang meliputi:  (1) humor bidang pendidikan, (2) transportasi, (3) keluarga, (4) kesehatan, (5) agama, (6) ekonomi, (7) politik, dan (8) fabel. Jenis-jenis humor tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber nilai pendidikan karakter. Adapun nilai pendidikan karakter dalam wacana humor tersebut meliputi karakter visioner, kedisiplinan, kebahagiaan, tanggung jawab, sikap saleh, daya usaha, dan karakter rendah hati. Hal ini menunjukkan wacana humor memiliki nilai pendidikan karakter yang beragam. Humor berkarakter tersebut berpotensi dijadikan sebagai sumber bahan ajar di sekolah.Abstract:  This article aims to map the discourse of humor on Facebook social media with orientation towards character education. The research approach is descriptive qualitative. The data is in the form of humorous discourse on the social media. The data source is humorous discourse found on the social media. The data of this study were collected through documentation and observation techniques followed by note taking. Data analysis utilizes referential identity method. The results showed that there were eight types of humor in social media which include: (1) humor in education, (2) transportation, (3) family, (4) health, (5) religion, (6) economy, (7) politics, and (8) fable. These types of humor can be used as a source of value for character education, including visionary character, discipline, happiness, responsibility, godly attitude, effort, and humble character. This shows that the discourse of humor has a diverse character education value. Humor with such character has the potential to be a source of teaching material in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the socio-historic background of (1) Asma Nadia and (2) the structure of Bunda: Kisah Cinta 2 Kodi, This study uses the descriptive qualitative method. The research strategy is embedded in case studies. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs in the novel Bunda: Kisah Cinta 2 Kodi that contains information about the socio-historic background of Asma Nadia, and the structure of the novel. The primary data source is the novel and the secondary data source is relevant journal articles. The data were collected through the library, observation, and documentation techniques. The data were analyzed using the semiotic reading method, namely heuristic and hermeneutic reading. The results of the study are (1) Sociohistorical setting: Asma Nadia was born into a literary family (her grandfather, Teuku Muhammad Usman El Muhammady and her two siblings, Helvy Tiana Rosa and her brother Aeron Tomino, and her husband, Isa Alamsyah, were writers). Her works have particular characteristics: Islamic theme, simple language, and the struggle of Moslem women. (2) The structure of the novel: the theme is the struggle of a mother in a family. It uses the flashback method since the story takes a regressive plot. The important figures are Kartika, Aryani, Farid, Bagja, Farid’s mother, Anton’s mother and Siti. The setting: schools, Kartika boarding house, campus canteens, cinemas, bookstores, Aryani's house, hospitals, abortion clinics, Tanah Abang market, Aryani's in-law's house, mushalla, and food stalls. Time setting: 1962, 1963, 1965, 1989, 1992, 1998 and 2000. Social setting: Kartika comes from Javanese and Minangkabau parents, whose works are civil servants and teachers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan diksi dalam wacana humor di media sosial facebook. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data-data penelitian ini adalah diksi dalam wacana humor di media sosial facebook. Sumber datanya berupa wacana humor di media sosial facebook. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode dokumentasi dan simak serta dilanjutkan dengan teknik catat. Data penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode padan translasional dan teknik baca markah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan penggunaan diksi pada wacana humor Indonesia di media sosial meliputi: (1) diksi sehari-hari; (2) kata serapan (Jawa dan Inggris); (3) kata sapaan; (4) kata konotatif; (5) kata konkret; dan (6) kata vulgar. Diksi sehari-hari dalam wacana humor Indonesia merupakan diksi yang paling banyak ditemukan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa diksi keseharian dalam wacana humor berfungsi untuk menjalin keakraban dalam berkomunikasi.This study aims to describe diction in the discourse of humor on Facebook social media. This research approach is descriptive qualitative. The data of this study are diction in the discourse of humor on Facebook social media. The data source is in the form of humorous discourse on Facebook social media. The research data was collected using the documentation and listening method and continued with the note-taking technique. The data of this study were analyzed using translational equivalent methods and marking reading techniques. The results of this study indicate the use of diction in Indonesian humor discourse on social media including (1) daily diction; (2) absorption words (Javanese and English); (3) greetings; (4) connotative words; (5) concrete words; and (6) vulgar words. Daily diction in Indonesian humorous discourse is the most common diction. This finding shows that daily diction in humorous discourse serves to establish intimacy in communication.
