Abstract

The study aims to describe the violations by the students of the 2014 initiation at UMS and identify their solutions by the activity coordinators and line coordinators. The primary data included the verbal abuse by the coordinators, committees, and students’ responses to the 2014 Academic Program Activity of Teacher and Training Education Faculty - UMS. The secondary data included the non-verbal (physical) abuse obtained from observation and interview. The data were collected through observation, inter-view and written documentation which include the results of the verbal and non-verbal strictness observation, summary of the initiation program and its regulation, and photos. The data validity used was data and data source triangulation. The data were analyzed using case study technique. The results of the study showed that there were some violations by the students during the initiation program as follows: (1) smoking a cigarette, (2) wearing a short skirt for the female, (3) wearing a transparent and tight cloth for the female, (4) not wearing a complete attribute, (5) speaking unethically or using four lette-words, (6) having a long hair beyond the ears, and (7) coming late. The solutions to the violations seemed that the line coordinators tended to permit them and they did not give any punishment so that the students kept on behaving badly. Some students thought that the team of the line coordinators were linient, particularly in giving punishment to the students who violated the regulations of the initiation program.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the Indonesian language learning in class XI IPA Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Karanganyar, especially related to: (1) Quality of learning of Indonesian in terms of school environment, (2) the quality of learning inputs, namely student motivation, teacher competence, learning programs, and infrastructure, (3) the quality of the learning process, namely: teacher’s roles in the classroom, students’roles and learning activities and learning environmnet, and (4) the students’ learning outcome. The type of research is evaluation model using a quanlitative and quantitative approaches. Evaluation model used is the model CIPP (context, input, process, product). Data collection is carried out through questionnaires, interviews, observation and documenta tion. The data analysis technique used is the evaluative analysis conducted qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed as follows: (1) Learning environment is conducive for learning process (stated by 96.4% of students); (2) students’motivation in learning is good (stated by 96.7% of students) although teachers lack in classroom management skills; (3) The teachers role and activities are good (stated by 84.9% of students); students’ activities in classroom are goog (stated by 90.6% of students); (4) school environment is condusive for learning (stated by 95.6 % of students); and (5) the academic achievement of students is good (meased through the average score of the second semester of academic year 2012/201).

Abstract

In general, the purpose of this study is to describe the illocutionary speech act of chap- lain using bilingual approach. This is a qualitative research. The data are in the form of speech collected from recordings of cleric K.H. Anwar Zahid from Bojonegoro, East Java as the informant. Data collection techniques used are observation and recording. Data analysis used is equivalent intralingual method aith comparative technique. The results of this study indicate as follows: (a) Assertive modes are expressed in the form of Javanese-Arabic and Arabic-Indonesian; complain mode are in Arabic-Javanese and Arabic-Indonesian); (b) Directive modes are in Arabic-Javanese and Arabic-Indone- sian) and advising modes are in Arabic-Javanese and Arabic-Indonesian); (c) there are commissive mode of offers in Arabic-Javanese and Javanese-Indonesian), (d) Expres- sive congratulation mode in Arabic-Javanese); (e) Declaration form naming mode is in Javanese-Arabic and Arabic-Indonesian. Speech acts used in the teachings are direct speech act, such as to govern, inform or do something directly. The direct speech is used in the form of questions in Arabic-Javaneseand commands Arabic-Javanese and Indo- nesian-Arabic.

Abstract

This study has four aims, (1) the procedure of learning to write text to speech and speech in the classroom, (2) learning strategies and what the media writes text to speech and speech in the classroom, (3) student activity in learning to write text to speech and speech in the classroom, and (4) learning outcomes writing text to speech and speech. This includes descriptive qualitative research which took place in SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo. Data in the form of words and actions. Sources of data obtained from sources, events, and documents. Informant is Indonesian teachers and students. Events are learning activities Indonesian X1 class 2nd semester of academic year 2012/2013. The document in question is a document relating to the teaching of writing. Data collection techniques were interviews, observation, and documentary. Research findings in the field, among others, (1) the learning procedure by submitting a text to speech material on speech. Then compose the theme is developed into a framework and final drafting speeches, (2) application of learning strategies to write text to speech and speech with the approach that has been programmed patterns , the approach of process skills and communicative approach, (3) students activate in learning writing text to speech and speech have been carried out by providing learning facilities and trust management using effective learning infrastructure, (4) learning to write text to speech and speech by using the approach of process skills and communicative approaches undertaken by teachers Indonesian subjects in SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo obtain following result, students who earn good grades for writing text to speech 80 % and 88 % speech practice, then students who received grades enough to write the speech 20 % and 3 % speech practice, and students who obtain less value to the writing of the speech is not there, to practice speech while there were 9 % .

Abstract

This research deals with the use of conjunction in Indonesian language by the fifth graders of Baki Pandeyan 01 Elementary School of Sukoharjo. The objective of this study is three folds: (1) to describe conjunction used in spoken Indonesian Language; (2) to describe conjunction used in written Indonesian Language; (3) to describe errors in using conjunction both in written and spoken Indonesian. This research is categorized into descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is the conjunction used in spoken and written of Indonesian language of the fifth grade.The data of the research was the conjunction used in Indonesian Language of the fifth grade students which were collected through writing and retelling the story. The technique of data collection was done by using tapping technique continued with scrutinize ability involvement technique, recording technique, and noticing technique. The technique of data analysis used intralingual match because it connects and compares the language itself. The result of the study showed that conjunction of spoken Indonesian language of subordinative reached 182, coordinative reached 64, and inter-sentences reached 3. The using of subordinative conjunction in written Indonesian language reached 104, and 49 for coordinative cinjunction. The conjunction often used by the fifth grade studens is dan. Conjuntion error often occurred in the use of words dan, tetapi, lalu, sedangkan which were used as the preposition, the wrong spelling of yg and /. This research also revealed that the characteristics of subordinative conjunction are as follows: (1) Connecting two points which equally important, (2) Connecting words or prhases which are equal, (3) It used in the compound sentence. Then, the characteristics of coordinative conjunction are (1) Connecting two or more sentences which the same syntactic status, (2) Forming the subordinative clause, (3) Used in the complex sentences. The characteristics of inter-clause conjunction are (1) Connecting one sentence to the others, (2) Combining two sentences.

Abstract

Many Indonesian teachers of Senior High School have used a lecturing method. Indonesian learning, it is necessary for them to implement an appropriate method and have a high creativity as well as make innovation. For them, a cooperative-based learning innovation is considered difficult and costly. Therefore, they remain to implement a lecturing method. The problems are that a cooperative-based learning has seldom been implemented and they have frequently used a lecturing method. In Indonesian learning, thus, it is necessary to implement a new strategy, called paragraph development and questions-answers between students. The strategy makes the students active, creative, and pleasurable because it focuses on cooperation in its implementation.

Abstract

Many Indonesian teachers of Senior High School have used a lecturing method.
