Abstract

Jagung juga merupakan tanaman yang multiguna dengan berbagai manfaat meliputi sebagai bahan pangan, pakan, dan bahan baku industri. Penyakit tanaman jagung dapat menyebabkan kerugian bagi petani. Biasanya penyakit-penyakit ini disebabkan oleh jamur, virus dan bakteri. Terdapat 5 jenis penyakit yang menyerang tanaman jagung di Balai Penyuluhan Pertanian Stabat. Penyakit-penyakit yang menyerang antara lain penyait bulai, penyakit hawar daun, penyakit karat daun, penyakit bercak daun dan penyakit layu stewart. Penyakit yang banyak menyerang tanaman jagung keseluruhan adalah penyakit bercak daun pada umur tanaman 70 Hst sejumlah 22 tanaman. Pada penyakit bulai terjadi sebanyak  4%, penyakit karat daun serangan sebanyak 4%, penyakit bercak daun sebanyak 11%, penyakit hawar daun sebanyak 6% dan penyakit layu stewart sebanyak 3% serangan. Intensitas serangan patogen yang tertinggi terjadi pada penyakit bercak daun dengan 11% dari skala yang telah tertera. Pengendalian yang dilakukan dilapangan antara lain pengendalian secara kimiawi dan pengendalian secara mekanik.

Abstract

Betel nut (Areca catechu) was proven to have antihyperglycemic activity through increased PI3K pathway in the GLUT4 translocation in cells. However, research on the ethanol extract of betel nut in Indonesia is still limited. The main problem in this study was whether the ethanol extract of betel nut could improve glucose tolerance in a two-hour postprandial period and whether the ethanol extract of betel nut could induce GLUT4 translocation in skeletal muscle cells of mice induced hyperglycemia. Glucose tolerance test results showed that treatment of the ethanol extract of betel nut for 24 days with all doses tested: P50,100,150,200 and 250 mg/kg body weight could improve glucose tolerance in a two-hour postprandial period. The protein electrophoresis of that fasting and one hour postprandial state treatments resulted an increase in GLUT4/βActin density ratio of P250 group compared to negative and positive controls. In this case, GLUT4/βActin density ratio of P100,P200 and P250 were higher than that GLUT4/βActin density ratio of P50 and P150. Increased in GLUT4/βActin density ratio showed enhancement of the GLUT4 in skeletal muscle cells in fasting and one hour postprandial state after treated with ethanol extract of betel nut.

Abstract

KUBE “Sejahtera Mandiri” which is located in PB. Blang Pasee, Kec. Langsa Kota - Langsa City, is a productive economic group engaged in micro-enterprises to meet the needs of customers around Langsa City. In their daily life, the members have various businesses, such as selling side dishes, candied fruits, mobile phone credit business, making cakes and others, all of which they do to help the family's economy. In October 2010 an idea emerged to create a joint venture as a form of business diversification by utilizing coconut water waste as a raw material to produce nata de coco products. The problems faced are related to the production process, namely the place and production facilities that are considered unhygienic so that it can reduce consumer confidence and relate to the preparation of good KUBE business financial reports. The Community Partnership Program activity team will provide assistance which includes activities to increase knowledge about good and correct Production Processes, as well as business management assistance, especially regarding bookkeeping, so that they can find out the costs, income and benefits of KUBE Sejahtera Mandiri PB. Blang Pasee Langsa City. From the results of the activity, partners gave a positive response, were enthusiastic and were cooperative in participating in all activities. Partners gain insight and skills after participating in this series of training and mentoring activities.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out at Gampong Jawa, Langsa Baro District, Langsa City which aims to overcome the problems faced by partners who are MSME entrepreneurs who run a traditional beverage production business in the form of 'kunyit tamarind'. Businesses run by partners have the prospect of developing better by considering the opportunities and potential they have. The method used in implementing this service are (1) the lecture and discussion method; namely by formulating and justifying partner problems to provide the best solution; (2) Demonstration and practice methods, namely modifying production equipment and improving production systems in order to obtain optimal results, and (3) Observation methods, namely monitoring and assisting partners' businesses during the PkM implementation. Efforts to increase production capacity are carried out by adding additional supporting production machines such as automatic grating machines, so as to help production efficiency, by saving the number of production hours. Furthermore, improvements are given to the appearance of the packaging and brand to make it more attractive, and influence buying interest in customers. Product diversification is done by increasing the variety of bottle packaging sizes with adjusted prices.

Abstract

Kafein termasuk salah satu senyawa spesifik yang terdapat di dalam kopi. Kafein dapat memberikan dampak positif bagi tubuh untuk kesehatan, seperti menghilangkan stress. Pada kopi arabika, kandungan kafein lebih rendah dari robusta yaitu sebesar 1,1-1,3%. Namun, penyelidikan terkait perbandingan kadar kafein pada berbagai ketinggian di wilayah Bener Meriah belum banyak dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki dan mengetahui kadar kafein pada biji kopi arabika berdasarkan tempat tumbuh. Metode penelitian dimulai dengan pengumpulan sampel buah kopi dari tiga lokasi dengan ketinggian berbeda (981 MDPL, 1234 MDPL, dan 1700 MDPL), selanjutnya buah kopi dikupas dan diambil bijinya kemudian disangrai (roasting) dengan suhu masuk 220ºC dan suhu keluar 213ºC selama 14 menit. Lalu digiling menjadi bubuk, disaring dan dipreparasi menjadi larutan uji untuk diukur menggunakan metode HPLC. Hasil penelitian bahwa kadar kafein pada Kecamatan Wih Pesam (981 MDPL) 0.046% atau 0.00925mg, Permata (1234 MDPL) 0.003% atau 0.00075mg, dan Bener Kelipah (1700 MDPL) 0.018% atau 0.00375mg. Kesimpulan dari penelitian bahwa kadar kafein dari masing-masing tempat masih sesuai dengan SNI 01-7152-2006 dengan kadar kafein tertinggi terdapat pada wilayah dengan ketinggian 981 MDPL.

Abstract

Melanoma merupakan penyakit kanker kulit yang disebabkan oleh berubahnya sifat-sifat sel melanosit. Virgin coconut oil (VCO) memiliki aktivitas sebagai anti kanker yang sangat baik untuk menghambat induksi karsinogenik. VCO dilaporkan memiliki kandungan asam-asam lemak dengan rantai sedang yang didominasikan dengan asam lemak tak jenuh. Salah satu asam lemak dengan kandungan tertinggi pada VCO adalah asam laurat. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat sekolah tentang penyakit kanker kulit melanoma dan pengobatannya menggunakan VCO kelapa utuh serta cara pembuatan VCO menggunakan metode fermentasi bakteri yang ada di udara. Pelaksanaan program pengabdian ini dilakukan meliputi kegiatan sosialisasi dan eksperimen langsung kepada masyarakat sekolah untuk pembuatan VCO dengan metode fermentasi bakteri yang ada di udara hingga diperoleh VCO, kemudian VCO diaplikasikan pada masyarakat sekolah yang menderita melanoma.

Abstract

Disease and food insufficiency are serious problems faced by community at the post-flood in Paya Udang Village, Seruway District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. To overcome these problems, a community service program was carried out in the form of making an organic farming model based on quick-harvest crops and toga plants. This program aims to increase local food production, food independence, and post-flood disease control through the application of sustainable organic farming practices. Fast-harvest crops such as spinach, kale, and cassava were chosen because they can provide quick results and meet the food needs of the community. Toga plants such as lemongrass were also introduced as a natural mosquito repellent and an effort to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. The program involves the active participation of the community, farmer groups, and the KKN team in the process of land clearing, soil preparation, planting, plant maintenance, and organic pest control. Through training, counseling, and mentoring, the community's knowledge and skills in organic farming are improved. The results of this program include increased local food production, diversified food consumption, increased food self-sufficiency, and post-flood disease risk control. In addition, the program also provides recommendations for policy development that supports organic farming and food sustainability at the local and national levels.

Abstract

Uteun Dama Village is a village in Peureulak Sub-district that has the potential for reservoir products such as tilapia. The manufacture of fish smoking equipment using used drums aims to maintain the quality and nutritional value, provide a distinctive aroma, and extend the shelf life of tilapia to be longer. The making of this fish smoking equipment can be made through designing a fish smoking equipment design using the Auto Cad application and then printed to facilitate the making of a tool frame equipped with a closing door, chimney, smoking rack and furnace. The fish smoking equipment that has been made can be an alternative instrument in fish preservation with several characteristics including a larger fish smoking volume capacity, has better temperature control, can maintain sterile conditions and avoid contamination during fish storage, high fuel use efficiency and can save operational costs in the long term.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is characterized by increased blood glucose levels and insulin secretion failure. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that at least 171 million people suffer from diabetes, and the number will more than double by 2030. The eyelids are one of the most common consequences of DM. This community's commitment focuses on helping diabetics maintain their health and prevent complications through local wisdom-based nutraceuticals. Community dedication activities are carried out using community empowerment techniques, which consist of three stages: socialization, implementation, and monitoring of evaluations to the community of Langsa. According to the findings of this exercise, 80% of the population, understands what nutraceutical items are especially Ie Bu Peudah. It is hoped that this activity can continue to be carried out by the Posyandu in Meurandeh Village.

Abstract

Organic waste in the Health Polytechnic Of Kendari has been transported by garbage transport trucks to the Puuwatu TPAS or destroyed by burning. Burning garbage will hurt air quality. This study aims to determine the adequate time needed to produce quality liquid compost from organic waste at the Health Polytechnic Of Kendari and examine the toxicological effects of waste on human health. The results showed that the effective time for producing liquid compost was 36 days with a volume of 2500 mL, and the fastest liquid compost production was 7 days with a volume of 1200 mL. The ideal ratio of C/N composting is 30 : 1. There was a temperature fluctuation within 109 days. The mesophilic phase at the beginning of this study lasted 22 days with a temperature range of 34.5 – 34.9 oC. The second phase is the thermophilic phase, characterized by an increase in temperature, namely up to 40-54.9 oC, which lasts for 36 days. And the maturation stage in this study lasted for 51 days with a temperature range of 44.4 – 32.2 oC. The pH of liquid compost from organic waste has increased, ranging from 2.3 – 4.2. on day 7, the compost turned light brown; from day 44 to day 109, it turned dark brown. Liquid compost production from day 7 to day 85 has a distinctive odour, while liquid compost from day 95 to day 109 has a slight odour. The toxicological effects of organic waste include polluting the environment and disrupting human health, namely respiratory problems, heart problems, cancer, risk of death or premature death.
