Abstract

Student organizations are gathering places for individuals with systematic goals. One of the important skills in organizing is public speaking. However, not all members of the organization have this ability. Therefore, public speaking training was conducted to help LDK CESIMA members of Widyagama Mahakam University. This training involves several stages, including pre-activities, training activities, and evaluation. Pre-activity involves goal setting, material preparation, and facilities. Training activities involve lectures, discussions, and practice sessions. Evaluation involves assessing participants' skills and feedback. With this method, the training successfully improves the public speaking skills of members of the organization. The training results showed an increase in members' public speaking skills with an average pre-test score of 71.61 increased to 90.17 on the post-test. A Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 indicates that this increase is significant. Thus, this training is successful in improving the public speaking skills of members of the organization. The implication is that members of the organization can communicate more effectively and confidently in a variety of situations, both in internal meetings and in interacting with external parties. It can also enhance the credibility of the organization and strengthen relationships between members and other stakeholders. In addition, good public speaking skills can also open career and leadership opportunities for members in the future. Abstract

Gender-based violence (GBV) is an issue that has received attention at the international level. In Mexico, almost 50% of women have reported being victims of violence perpetrated by their partner or ex-partner to the point of their death. The type of GBV that has experienced a significant increase is femicide or the killing of women just because of gender. The number of cases of femicide in Mexico has averaged 1.500 cases annually since 1985. In the period 1993-2005, there were at least 370 victims femicide that have been identified. This causes Mexico to become a country that is considered unsafe for women, especially with a high level of impunity in Mexico, where 93% of crimes are not reported nor investigated, including femicide. The machismo culture that is very attached to social life in Mexico emphasizes how domination is owned by men over women. The Spotlight Initiative program in Mexico is one of the government's efforts aimed at strengthening, complementing, and supporting existing gender-related initiatives in Mexico, particularly for femicide and violence against women. With 2 phases, the first phase in 2019-2021 and the second phase in 2021-2022, the Spotlight Initiative program is expected to have a positive impact on women in Mexico and can also eliminate acts of violence against women in various forms. However, the program has no significant effect on the level of femicide that occurs in Mexico. The strong influence of machismo culture has become a strong factor in its occurrence femicide in Mexico.

Abstract

Economic globalization has become a major force shaping the dynamics of the world economy, including driving the transformation of industrial structures in developing countries. This article aims to analyze how economic globalization, through international trade flows, foreign direct investment (FDI), and technology transfer, has affected the industrial structure of developing countries in the last two decades. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and supported by secondary data from international institutions such as the World Bank and UNCTAD. This study finds that globalization drives a shift from the primary sector to the modern manufacturing and service sectors in various developing countries. However, this impact is not homogeneous, as it depends on institutional capacity, labor quality, and national industrial policies. These findings indicate the importance of the role of the state in designing adaptive and inclusive industrial policies to maximize the benefits of globalization while minimizing structural inequalities. This article contributes to the literature on the relationship between globalization and economic transformation, as well as the relevance of industrial policies in the context of a changing global economy.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the government’s import ban on used clothing on the secondhand clothing trade. The research seeks to understand how the policy has influenced local trading activities, market dynamics, and consumer behavior. The primary objective of this study is to analyze and describe the socio-economic effects resulting from the implementation of the used clothing import ban, with a particular focus on shifts within the local second-hand clothing market. To achieve this, the study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection methods include direct field observations, unstructured interviews with traders and consumers, and literature reviews from relevant academic sources and policy documents. This methodological framework allows for an in-depth exploration of the issue from multiple perspectives. The results show that while the import ban has not fully halted secondhand clothing trade, it has contributed to a noticeable slowdown. There has been a gradual reduction in the number of active thrift traders, alongside a modest but growing consumer shift toward new, locally manufactured garments often viewed as more hygienic. Additionally, local garment producers have reported stable or increased demand during certain seasons. The policy has begun to influence market behavior, though its effectiveness remains partial and ongoing.
