Abstract

Various efforts have been made to enhance vocabulary acquisition and students’ engagement in English classrooms; however, studies that specifically highlight the application of tactile learning integrated with drama activities remain relatively limited. This study seeks to fill that gap. It aims to examine the impacts of tactile learning in drama activities on the English vocabulary acquisition and classroom engagement of eighth-grade students at SMPIT Khairunnas Bengkulu City during the English learning process. It used a case study with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The data were collected by conducting pre-test and post-test, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Observation, and documentation. There were 87 students as respondents of the research. The result showed that the implementation of tactile learning through drama could improve students’ English vocabulary acquisition. The use of tactile learning approach in drama activities gave positive impacts in improving students’ engagement in English class. The result of the research strengthens opinion that tactile learning in drama activities is an effective and fun learning method to improve students’ English vocabulary acquisition and engagement in English class.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited research on the use of Game-Based Learning (GBL) in supporting English motivation and engagement at the elementary school level. It aims to investigate how the implementation of GBL supports students’ learning motivation and the factors influencing their engagement. A mixed-method design was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches involving 29 fifth-grade students at SD Islam Al Azhar 51 Kota Bengkulu. The findings indicate that the implementation of GBL supports students’ motivation in learning English, as reflected in their enthusiasm, attention, and active participation through interactive games, collaborative activities, and teacher guidance. In addition, students’ engagement in GBL-based learning is influenced by internal factors such as enjoyment, interest, self-confidence, and awareness of the importance of English, as well as external factors including the types of games used, their alignment with lesson content, teacher strategies, peer collaboration, and the overall classroom environment. These elements together contribute to a dynamic, student-centered environment that strengthens positive attitudes toward English learning.

Abstract

Dalam  pembelajaran  matematika dapat menggunakan konteks keseharian yang akrab dan disenangi oleh siswa. Penggunaaan konteks dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat meningkatkan  motivasi  dan  apresiasi  yang akan berpengaruh terhadappeningkatan  prestasi  belajar. Bidang sport atau olahraga khususnya sepakbola merupakan salah satu bidang yang digemari hampir oleh setiap siswa. Menggunakan konteks sepakbola dalam pembelajaran matematika, baik sebagai sumber belajar maupun rekreasi matematika dapat membantu meningkatkan rasa ingin tahu, berpikir reflektif/kritis, dan tentu saja apresiasi terhadap matematika. Ada banyak aspek matematika di dalam permainan sepakbola (Soccer atau Football). seperti topik bilangan, geometri hingga peluang yang dapat dibelajarkan dengan topik sepakbola. Namun permasalahan selama ini ilmu matematika dan ilmu olahraga disampaikan secara masing-masing. Padahal dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat menggunakan konteks olahraga sepakbola. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini menggunakan metode daring/online dengan melakukan webinar menggunakan Platform Zoom. Untuk merealisasikan metode tersebut melakukan tahapan atau tahapan, yakni, 1) Perencanaan, 2) Pelaksanaan, dan 3) Evaluasi. Tujuan dari program ini adalah memberikan pemahaman tentang relevansi antara pembelajaran matematika dikaitkan dengan konteks olahraga sepakbola. Hasil yang didapatkan dari kegiatan ini bahwa peserta menyatakan puas dengan kegiatan yang dilakukan, mendapatkan pengetahuan bahwa dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat dikaitkan dengan konteks permainan sepakbola.

Abstract

Dinas Pol PP dan Pemadam Kebakaran Kabupaten Padang Pariaman merupakan salah satu Dinas yang menjadi objek penulisan ini, dengan jumlah ASN 3 orang, tenaga harian lepas sebanyak 62 orang. Dinas Pol PP dan Pemadam Kebakaran Kabupaten Padang Pariaman memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam melakukan pelayanan kepada masyarakat, khususnya dalam pemadaman dan penyelamatan kejadian kebakaran. Pekerjaan pemadam kebakaran merupakan pekerjaan yang mengandung risiko kerja yang sangat tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Kecerdasan Sosial dan Kecerdasan Emosional terhadap Kinerja dengan Self Efficacy Sebagai Variabel Intervening pada Pegawai Dinas Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja dan Pemadam Kebakaran Padang Pariaman. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Populasi sebanyak 62 pegawai. Pengelolaan data pada penelitian ini akan menggunakan Software smartPLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh kecerdasan sosial terhadap kinerja pegawai Tidak ada pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap kinerja pegawai. Ada pengaruh self efficacy terhadap kinerja pegawai. Ada pengaruh kecerdasan sosial terhadap self efficacy pegawai. Tidak ada pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap self efficacy pegawai. Tidak ada pengaruh kecerdasan sosial terhadap kinerja setelah adanya intervening dari self efficacy pada pegawai.

Abstract

This study explored the current situation and challenges facing the preservation of the Lembak language among the Lembak ethnic group in Bengkulu City. With globalization and modernization, there were concerns about keeping indigenous languages like Lembak alive, especially with the influence of dominant languages. The study aimed to evaluate the vitality of the Lembak language, identify factors contributing to its preservation or decline, and provide recommendations for its sustained maintenance amid the continuously changing societal dynamics. Employing a mixed-method approach, the methodology encompassed cluster sampling for a survey comprising 210 respondents drawn from seven neighborhoods across three districts in Bengkulu City, alongside purposive sampling for interviews involving 36 respondents from diverse demographic strata encompassing varying age groups and occupational backgrounds, including parents, teachers, and students, all of whom were native Lembak speakers. Findings revealed an average vitality index of 0.38 for the Lembak language, signifying its endangered status. While the language remained prevalent among older age groups limited in their community, its usage notably declined among younger generations, partially due to language contact and a preference for dominant languages. This situation is exacerbated by the lack of formal support and promotion from the government, absence of official backing, insufficient formal teaching materials, minimal language documentation, and the necessity for the Lembak language to adapt to the new challenges of the digital era to remain relevant and develop.To ensure the Lembak language survives, it was suggested to raise awareness, improve education, and gain support from the government and other groups.

Abstract

This research aims to identify professional English language skill requirements for students in Islamic Banking program and to propose an optimal English learning concept tailored for students at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu. The goal is to adequately address the professional needs of students in their future work environments. Employing a qualitative approach, the study involved interviews with Islamic Banking students, Islamic Banking lecturers, stakeholders from the Islamic Banking authority in Bengkulu Province, and English lecturers. The findings indicate that English proficiency is crucial for Islamic Banking students, as their future professions involved using English banking terminology and meeting requirements for advancement to managerial positions. Communication targets in the professional realm encompass correspondence, banking applications, leadership meetings, interactions with large companies, managerial-level managers, and handling foreign customers. English language situations in banking affairs predominantly occur at the managerial level, involving transaction handling in large and foreign companies, report preparation, and central-level reporting processes. A learning situation analysis reveals that proficiency in all English language skills is imperative in the profession within Islamic financial institutions. Considering the workplace needs in Islamic banking institutions, the ideal English learning concept involves mastering language elements and skills, coupled with activities supporting productive professional communication through authentic audio-visual teaching materials. Learning activities span from listening and learning Islamic banking vocabulary to practicing their use in dialogues and delivering presentations in English. Employing communicative learning methods, peer learning, and role play is essential to motivate students to regularly practice English and become accustomed to it, as well as the use of constructivism learning models.

Abstract

This test is motivated by the problem of student learning outcomes, especially information about soccer strategies and tactics which are still relatively low. The motivation behind this review is to determine the impact of animation on knowledge of the strategy and tactics soccer games on 12th grade Pangkalpinang Senior High School 3. This test provides a reference for educators in expanding student information. This research is an experimental quantitative research. Determination of the sample by purposive sampling procedure. The sample used is 32 students. This experiment uses a Pre-Experimental Design with a trial plan of the One Group Pretest-Posttest Plan. The data testing method used One Sample t-test (Pretest-Posttest). After testing the presumption using the t-test, it is obtained that tcount = 3.893 and ttable with a degree of 5% = 1.696, then Ha is recognized and H0 is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of animation teaching materials on the knowledge of strategy and tactics soccer game on 12th grade Pangkalpinang Senior High School 3.
