Abstract

This study examines the reform of Islamic inheritance law and its role in the formation of a national inheritance law that is more just, inclusive and adaptive to social change. Using the literature research method, this study examines the principles of Islamic inheritance law and its contribution to the national legal system. The results show that the reform of Islamic inheritance law is an important part of the development of national inheritance law, with a major role in improving social justice, legal certainty, and accommodation to the diversity of society. This reform is realized through several strategies, namely: (1) increasing gender equality in the distribution of inheritance, (2) harmonizing Islamic inheritance law with civil law, (3) adjusting the principles of inheritance distribution to be more relevant to the social context, and (4) applying the concept of mandatory will to protect the rights of certain heirs. This research confirms that Islamic inheritance law reform not only plays a role in strengthening the national legal system, but also becomes a strategic element in creating a more cohesive, responsive, and just inheritance law.

Abstract

Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam/SKI) is a fundamental subject within the Islamic Religious Education curriculum at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) level, yet it is frequently perceived by students as monotonous and difficult due to its heavy emphasis on memorization and limited pedagogical variety. This study aims to examine the instructional strategies employed by Islamic Education teachers at MI Mathla’ul Huda Rancagong, with a particular focus on the application of mind mapping and timeline techniques. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive methodology, data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving purposively selected participants. The findings indicate that mind mapping facilitates visual organization of complex historical concepts, improves memory retention, and promotes critical thinking, creativity, and student engagement. Meanwhile, the use of timelines enhances students’ chronological thinking and their ability to comprehend historical sequences and causal relationships. These strategies are consistent with both constructivist and humanistic learning theories, positioning students as active participants in the learning process. The integration of visual-based instructional tools not only improves students’ academic outcomes but also fosters more meaningful and engaging learning experiences. This study contributes to pedagogical innovation in Islamic education by offering practical recommendations for educators, school administrators, and policymakers. It also suggests avenues for future research focusing on the integration of multiple visual learning strategies, application across different educational levels, and exploration in diverse sociocultural contexts

Abstract

Qur’anic education In the context of globalization and the demand for competitive human resources, education serves as a fundamental tool for fostering intellectual and moral development. Islamic education, particularly the teaching of Fiqh, plays a crucial role in shaping students' religious commitment and daily worship practices. This study aims to examine the influence of the teacher's role on students’ motivation to learn Fiqh at Nurul Iman Islamic Boarding School. Grounded in the framework of Self-Determination Theory, the research explores how elements such as teacher encouragement, classroom engagement, and personal connection contribute to students’ intrinsic motivation. This research employs a quantitative, correlational method using an ex-post facto design. A sample of 30 students from five dormitories at Nurul Iman Islamic Boarding School was selected. Data were collected through questionnaires and analysed using simple linear regression. The results reveal a statistically significant influence of the teacher’s role on students’ learning motivation, with an R value of 0.686 and R² of 0.470, indicating that 47% of the variance in student motivation is explained by the teacher's role. These findings affirm that the teacher is not merely a transmitter of knowledge, but a critical agent in fostering a motivational learning environment. Effective Fiqh teachers act as mentors and motivators, using praise, rewards, emotional support, and active guidance to cultivate religious awareness and student engagement. The study underscores the necessity of empowering teachers with strategies that fulfil students’ psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness, thus enhancing their motivation to engage in religious learning meaningfully.
