Abstract

AbstractOne of the tasks assigned to Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi is community service. This is one of the main tasks and functions of a lecturer in Higher Education, besides other main tasks such as teaching and research. The activity of community service was carried out at Canting Buana Kreatif located in Nagari Bukik Surungan, Padangpanjang, West Sumatra. The theme of the training is Practice and Culture- Based Education. This theme was deliberately chosen because the training participants are students who have never had direct contact with matters related to art and craft practice, so it is important to introduce directly what and how Batik and Ecoprint are, the students who have learned only theory, when they interact in person and practice the excitement themselves, then hopefully in the end they will also be able to provide the training intended for foreign students that they will be taught later on. The training method involves a direct demonstration of how to make Batik, which of course introduces the theories first. After understanding the theory, the participants immediately put it into practice on a piece of cloth, either making patterns to produce Batik cloth or the ecoprint itself. In the end, it is hoped that the training participants will be able to pass on the knowledge they have gained to foreign students who will later learn more from them about what and how batik and ecoprint itself are. Keywords: batik; ecoprint; training.

Abstract

Elections are held periodically, namely once every five years, with the aim of a constitutional change of power as regulated in the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945). General elections are held in the form of presidential elections, regional head elections and legislative elections. At this time political parties are no longer the only force in political contestation. Elections that take place at the local election level still often encounter interference from elites, especially traditional elites, such as the regional elections that occurred in Kerinci Regency, where one of the elite's roles is as a force in mobilizing the masses. Many candidates use traditional culture to get more supporters in the election. Through its mass power, it can be used as an effective political machine in political contestation. This confirms that political mobilization is the key to winning election contestations. In analyzing mass mobilization by traditional elites, researchers use mobilization theory according to Stefano Bartolini and elite theory from Pareto and Mosca because mobilization in politics is a series of processes carried out by traditional elites in recruiting participants to obtain special support in an election. This research uses a qualitative approach with an instrumental case study method. The research results show that mass mobilization was commanded by traditional elites, such as the Depati and Ninik Mamak of Kerinci Regency, who directed and ordered the community and their nephews to choose certain agreed candidate pairs. The order was issued by Depati Ninik Mamak in a joint meeting to decide on support for candidate pair Adirozal-Ami Taher, so that the results of the meeting resulted in a joint agreement to win the pair Adirozal-Ami Taher.

Abstract

The Indonesian government believes that the development of an electric power plant in Gunung Talang will have a positive impact on improving the welfare of the community. However, this plan is not uniformly accepted by the local community, as their area will be affected by the development. The local community around Gunung Talang who will be affected by it have protested the government's plan. It is important to consider the local community's thoughts in development planning. The methodology used in this study is ethnography, utilizing emic and etic data, and employing purposive sampling, key informants, and ordinary informants. The results indicate that the local community's understanding and beliefs about their customary land are essential to their survival and well-being. They feel that the land is a source of life that needs to be protected and preserved. They also feel that the government has not considered their needs and interests in this development plan. The conclusion of this study is that involving the local community in development planning and considering their perspective is crucial to minimizing negative impacts and maximizing positive outcomes from it. Therefore, this can provide broader benefits to the community and strengthen social and ecological sustainability.
