Abstract

An experimental study in the hybrid air conditioning machine as air conditioner and water heater by retrofitting R-22 with hydrocarbon refrigerant (HCR-22) have been investigated. Drop-in experiments were carried out without any modification on the system. The system has been tested by varying the internal heat load 0, 1000, 2000, and 3000 W for residential cooling load simulation. The measurements taken during two hour experimental periods at 5 minutes interval times for temperature set point of 19°C. Temperature of the system is the objective of this research. The result shows refrigerant temperature of HCR-22 lower than R-22 because differences of compressor discharge pressure. Temperature discharge decrease between 16.22-24.02 ˚C. For conditioned room, room temperature in every internal heat load was relative same. And water temperature in 50 L storage are 46.58-48.81 ˚C.Keywords : Hybrid Air Conditioning, Dummy Condenser, Hydrocarbon Refrigerant HCR-22, Cooling Load.

Abstract

Energy saving is one way to reduce energy usage without decreasing the results. This way can be obtained byusing the hybrid air conditioning. Other than energy saving, the hybrid air conditioning also can reduce theeffects of global warming by condenser waste heat recovery. This research aims to investigate the effect ofvariations flow rate in water heater tank to the system temperatures of hybrid air conditioning using helical coiltype of dummy condenser with 1/4˝ diameter of copper pipe. Experimental method is used in this research. Thetest was conducted with several water flow rate variations (1/3, 2/3, and 3/3 valve openings) and using coolingload of 2000 Watt as residential cooling load simulation. The result showed that the water temperature in waterheater tank was changed in every water flow rate variations. The highest water temperature was obtained at39.77˚C for 0 valve opening (full-closed valve), but, the lowest water temperature was obtained at 32.57˚C in3/3 valve opening (full-open valve).Keywords: water heater, helical coil, dummy condenser.

Abstract

Thermoelectric cooling is a heat pump equipment based works on peltier effect. When electric current was applied, the heat absorption occurs at the junction of the two metals and heatloss in another connection. The Benefits of using thermoelectrics could be applied via a portable beverage cooler. Therefore, the portable beverage cooler test using 1 peltier element TEC1-12706 type with capacity of cooler box is 4,7 liter. Cooler box dimensions arelength 24,7 cm, width 18,5 cm and height 18,5 cm. The data capture in this study are cooling chamber temperature, heat sink temperature, ambient temperature, the temperature of the inner wall and outer wall. The results show that steady temperature conditions are using of aluminum without cooling load 21°C after 45 minutes and a load of six beverage cans (1980 ml) 27,8°C after 50 minutes. Whereas a portable beverage cooler isn’t using ofaluminum without cooling load 24,6°C after 50 minutes and a load of six beverage cans (1980 ml) 27,7°C after 35 minutes. A portable beverage cooler is using aluminum has a better performance than a portable beverage cooler isn’t using aluminum.The greater cooling load then be longer performance of steady temperature. Abstract

Air flow rate of Fan Coil Units (FCU) can affect cut off pump time in an air conditioning system, with controling air flow distribution to realization thermal comfort conditions in a residential building. With using secondary cycle of chiller system, a pump working for circulating chilled water through a FCU, for cooling system by Encapsulated Ice and water in Thermal Energy Storage (TES). A half of valve be opened for circulating volume flow rate of chilled water as normal condition. The thermostat use to controling room temperature at 26°C manually. The objective of this current study is to observ cut off pump power consumption. The Experiment is running in 8 hours with variations air flow rate 1.234 m/s and 2.432 m/s. The overall resultsshow that power consumption of pump can reduce around 15.11 % and 31.25%.Keywords: Encapsulated Ice, TES, Chiller.

Abstract

At this time the more widespread use of engine cooling of homes, offices, hotels, cars, hospitals, and industries. The use of engine cooling capacity varies from small to large. Engine cooling is the most widely used today is the engine cooling operating with vapor compression cycle. One of the basic components that operate the engine cooling vapor compression cycle is the expansion tools. The usefulness of the expansion tools is to reduce the pressure expansion of liquid refrigerant from the condenser exit and regulating the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator entrance. Expansion tools will regulate the flow of refrigerant can be manual or automatic. For optimal cooling requirements, it is important to determine the effect of expansion tools with temperature and pressure of the vapor compression engine cooling cycle is. The test using a thermostatic valve is more efficient compared with the capillary tube, this is due to the use of the thermostatic valve will provide temperature and working pressure lower than the capillary tube, so that the process will lead to greater heat absorption and compressor work will be lighter so the power consumption will be becomes smaller.Keywords :expansion tools, capillary tube, thermostatic expansion valve, refrigerant

Abstract

Wind energy including renewable energy development. In previous research for the wind turbine of vertical type Darrieus H profile naca 2415 still slightly, thus lifted the title research on the performance of vertical wind turbine type Darrieus H profile naca 2415. The purpose of this research is to find the effect on the performance of the pitch angle for the vertical wind turbine type darrieus H with profile NACA 2415. This research uses experimental method, with varying wind speed and angle of pitch given of the wind speed 3.6 m/s, 4.15 m/s, 5.04 m/s and the variation the angle of pitch 0°, 10°, 20°, with a load of 250 grams. As for capturing data is wind speed and rotation shaft. The results of research on wind speed 3,69 m/s performance turbine are highest in large Angle of pitch 0° , with large value CP = 4,35 %, wind speed 4,15 m/s performance turbine more effective in large angle of pitch 0° , with large value CP = 3,80 % , wind speed 5,04 m/s performance turbine effective in large angle of pitch 0° , with large value CP = 2,42 % .Keyword: Darrieus H, Angle of pitch, Blade, NACA 2415

Abstract

Evaporative Cooling is an air conditioning system that uses water to cool and add moisture or humidity in the air flow, so ball temperature is dry become cooler before experiencesublimate process. Media temperature change influence coolant to water debit change whichis if water temperature the greater, therefore resulting water debit will get little conversely if water temperature gets little, therefore resulting water debit will be even greater. Media temperature change influence water cooler to its air humidity if coolant media temperature the greater therefore resulting air humidity also the greater too. On this research streaming debit that result effectiveness at the best which is in a row 1,2, 1,04, and 0,8 liters / minutes. Abstract

Open sun-drying was commonly used to dry the bananas. In fact, bananas were spread on bamboo’s tray and exposed to solar radiation without any covers. The banana usually contaminated by insects, animals and dusts which can make the bananas have a low quality. Therefore, an appropriate dryer is needed to overcome this problem. Solar dryer cabinet type was considered as an alternative device. This study was conducted to observe the performance of the solar dryer cabinet by experimental method. A direct solar dryer cabinet was constructed. The dryer consists of solar collector, drying chamber, glass cover and six racks. The drying time was 8 hours. Open-sun drying was also running in the same time as comparison. 3 kilograms banana were dried and take place on six racks. Solar dryer cabinet type gives the maximum temperature of 62,9 °C inside and 31,9 °C outside. Solar dryer cabinet has reduced the mass of banana approximately 49,6 % than initial mass. With open-sun drying could reduce approximately 25,6 % than initial mass. The results show that the banana which dried with solar dryer cabinet has produce brown colour, sweet taste and thin shape than open-sun drying. Beside that, the drying rate was also faster than open-sun drying. The quality of drying was better when using solar dryer cabinet type than open-sun drying.Keywords : Drying, Banana Drying, Solar Dryer.

Abstract

Pengujian dilakukan untuk mengetahui performa dari direct expansion solar assisted heat pump water heater yang terutama terdiri dari panel evaporator dengan luas permukaan 0,23 m2, kompresor rotari dengan daya input 1/6 PK, tangki air berisolator yang telah dililitkan kondensor berdiameter ¼ inch sepanjang 15 m serta pipa kapiler berdiameter 1 mm sepanjang 1,61 m. Pengujian dilakukan pada luar ruangan yang tepapar langsung sinar matahari. Hasil dari pengujian ini adalah COP tertinggi pada sistem DX-SAHPWH yang didapatkan sebesar 2,193 dan COP terkecil didapatkan sebesar 1,548 Intensitas radiasi matahari yang lebih tinggi memiliki efek positif terhadap kinerja dari sistem DX-SAHPWH, yaitu berakibat pada laju perpindahan panas pada air (wm) meningkat, waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk pemanasan lebih cepat, serta kinerja ataupun coeficient of performance (COP) dari sistem DX-SAHPWH meningkat.

Abstract

AbstractRefrigeration device is used to reduce the temperature of the room or cooled material by absorbing heatfrom the room/material. The most refrigeration device operated by using the vapor compression refrigerationcycle. This research was done experimentally using refrigeration device chiller type to cool the ethylene glycolcoolant in the refrigeration box (evaporator unit), and ethylene glycol coolant is used to absorb heat in coldstorage and indoor (test room). The results show for the circulation of ethylene glycol coolant to the coldstorage COP value is 2.80, while the circulation of ethylene glycol coolant to the indoor COP value is 5.12. Onthe testing of ethylene glycol coolant was circulated to the indoor with 1000 Watt cooling load, the COP value is5.19, and for circulated to the cold storage and indoor simultaneously COP is of 3.66. The performance ofchiller refrigeration device is influenced by the cooling load, the greater of cooling load that would affect thework of the compressor so that the pressure in compressor increase and the energy consumption to operate thecompressor also increasing too.Keywords: refrigeration, heat, COP, PF, cooling load.
