Abstract

ABSTRACTContact lens is a result of technology in ophthalmology which is used as an alternative for eye glasses to correct the refractive error. The use of contact lens also has negative effect mainly for those who use it continuously without paying attention to its health impact. This research aimed to assess knowledge about the use of contact lens in students and teachers of Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN/State High School) 1 and SMAN 9 Pekanbaru. The research was done in both high schools room on December 2015. Population amount of this research was 353 which consisted of all class XI students and all teachers of SMAN 1 and SMAN 9 Pekanbaru. The sample taking method used was total sampling method. Primary data was taken and then managed by using computerized method. Data analysis used in this research was univariate and bivariate analysis. Result of the research showed that most of respondents (students) in SMAN 1 were female (21 persons, 52,5%), 25 persons (62,5%) of them use contact lens for fashion reason. There were 28 persons (70,0%) of respondents who had less knowledge about contact lens usage. The cooperation between school and health worker especially ophthalmologist is needed to give information and improve the knowledge of students and teachers about the correct and safe use of contact lens.Keywords : Knowledge , Contact Lenses

Abstract

ABSTRACTScavengers are workers who collect and sort solid waste that has value as recyclable materials. Scavengers have high risk factors to get disease and job accidents, but very limited research review about that. The aims of this research are to identify respondense characteristics and to describe knowledge of among scavengers about aspect of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) at Temporary Disposal (TPS) Pekanbaru City. The methodology is descriptive study and used primary data by collecting direct interviews and giving questioners to 24 scavangers at 6 Temporary Disposal (TPS) Pekanbaru City. The accidental sampling technique is used in this research. The results show that characters of scavengers are dominated by females (54%), whose age between 26-45 years old (58%), and primary school graduates (29%), with working pattern up to <9 hour/day (71%) and most of respondense have enough category about aspect of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).Key words : Scavengers, knowledge, occupational health and safety (OHS), temporary disposal (TPS).

Abstract

ABSTRACTWaste is residual of human daily activities or natural processes in the solid form. Waste producer that can not be ignored are active community and development community. One of place that can be produced many waste in the city is University. Waste in the campus is usually from residual of student’s activities, food waste, student’s snack, grass, and plants in the campus area. As one of waste producer in the Campus area, university student must be responsible on throwing waste. The aims of this research are to know participation of medical faculty students on throwing waste in garbage. The type of this research is qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and observations by using snowballing sampling technique, there are 19 samples from Medical Faculty of Riau University students. This research showed that the students threw the waste in garbage without checked the suitable between waste type and garbage. The students threw waste in garbage because of their self and the ordinance. The obstacle that found by students on throwing waste were less awareness to keep the environtment and also caused by provision of garbage which it was not enough.Key words : Medical student, participation, waste.

Abstract

The finding of the presence of seminal fluid and sperm was the gold standard of the examination from victim of sexual crimes. A total from 75.6% of victims of sexual crimes were late to report to the authorities. The influence of air temperature, humidity, CO2 and sunlight exposure directly to the spermatozoa were the occurrence of DNA’s fragmentation. DNA’s fragmentation causes disruption of the bond between the DNA and acid fushsin, so the sperm’s morphology could not be seen with the test Baechi. Air temperature and air humidity were not affect to spermine picric. This study is a descriptive research and experimental design in to knew the influence of time, air temperature, air humidity on the results of seminal fluid and spermatozoa’s examination. This study uses Barberio test for the identification of seminal fluid and sperm test Baechi for identification. The results of this study was still finding spermatozoa with Baechi test for ten days and still finding semen with Barberio test for fifteen days.Key words : semen fluid, spermatozoa,time, air temperature and air humidity.

Abstract

Sexual offence is one of social problem that often happened in society. One of the best evidence used for investigation was semen and sperm found in a victim’s dress. A dress usually made by cotton fabric. This research aimed to discover the influence of washing method to semen and sperm test result in a cotton fabric. This research planned as experimental research, used berberio test for semen and baechi test for sperm test. The result concluded that semen still visible up to 7 days, while the sperm only lasts 3 to 4 days. Conclusion there is no influence of washing found in semen test result while the washing method did influence the sperm test result in the cotton fabric. Abstract

ABSTRACT Rowing is a sport featured Indonesian National Sports Committee Riau Province which require considerable force. Achieve good performance need a good physical condition. Aerobic endurance (VO2max) has contributed in aerobic endurance. VO2max value the better the athlete, the more fit physical health conditions. The purpose of this study was to know the description of aerobic endurance (VO2max) on rower Indonesian National Sport Committee (KONI) Riau province in 2015. This research method is a descriptive cross-sectional with total sampling technique. VO2max values obtained from the results of physical tests using balke test. The study was conducted on 57 respondents consisting of 43 men and 14 women. Results of this study showed the male athletes as many as 24 people (55.8%) in the category of very poor, 13 (30.2%) very poor and 6 (14.0%) enough. Whereas in female athletes earned 8 (57.1%) in the poor category and 6 (42.9%) very poor. Keywords: aerobic endurance (VO2max), rower men and women, Indonesian national sport committee

Abstract

Cardiorespiratory endurance is ability of heart system, lungs and blood vesselsto optimal function when do daily activity in long time without serious tired.Cardiorespiratory endurance influenced some factors such as: age, sex, nutritionalstatus, sport and smoke habits. Harvard step test is one of cardiorespiratory enduranceinspection that can do in the field with use simple tools, cheap, and easy to do by allpeople. This research is the analytical research with cross sectional approach thatpurpose to know the relation of smoke habits with cardiorespiratory endurance of manlecturer in social and politicies faculty in riau university by taking over sample technicsis total sampling. There are 40 man lecturers in 45-65 years old, but 31 of them fillinclude criteria. The result of research show there are relation that meaning betweensmoke habits and cardiorespiratory endurance with medium correlation strong anddirection negative correlation (r=-0,497 ; p=0,001). Conclusion in this research is mostof man lecturer have smoke habits in medium smoker category with enoughcardiorespiratory endurance.Keywords : smoke habits, cardiorespiratory endurance

Abstract

ABSTRACTDiplopia caused by maxillofacial fracture is diplopia binocular. Diplopia on maxillofacial fractures are one of absolute indications whether the patient will be operated or not, so physician can give the best treatment. This research is aimed to know the incidence of diplopia in patient with maxillofacial fractures at Arifin Achmad General Hospital period January 2011 – December 2013. The type of this research is a descriptive retrospective research. The sample of this research is all of patients with maxillofacial fractures’ medical records at Arifin Achmad General Hospital period January 2011 – December 2013, there are 162 sample included in this research. This research shows that the incidence of diplopia in maxillofacial fracture is 11,1% with the increasing case percentage from 2011 until 2013 (16%  34%  50%). Age group with the most frequent diplopia case is founded in age group between 15 to 24 years old (67%), the majority sex is male (78%). The most frequent type of diplopia is in multiple fractures (94%).Keywords: Diplopia binocular, maxillofacial fracture.

Abstract

ABSTRACTDecreased estrogen will be followed by physical and psychological disorder that causes physical activity of postmenopausal woman tend to be limited even depend on others. Descriptive study with cross sectional approach was conducted to identify the physical activity of postmenopausal women in nursing home Khusnul Khotimah Pekanbaru. The instrument study used Barthel Activity of Daily Living and modification of Baecke index questionnaire. Sampel were taken by consecutive sampling tecnique obtaining as many as 27 people respondents aged 56 – 90 years. All of respondents had experienced menopause for over 5 years. Characteristic of postmenopausal women mostly aged 60 - 74 years (66.67%), history of working (62.96%), not have children (51.85%), history of marriage ( 92.60%), not using contraception (92.60%) and no history of chronic disease (59.26%), education level was elementary school (44,44%). The result of this study showed most of postmenopausal women have mild dependence (51,85%) and moderate physical activity (66,66%).Keywords: Baecke index, Barthel index, Physical activity, Postmenopausal

Abstract

ABSTRACTA great nation can be recognized as a great nation if they haveextraordinary achievement and perfomance on international sport event.Nowadays, there are crisis of sports in Indonesia due to lack of internationalsport achievements and do not show a lot of improvements in national sportdevelopment. Achievement on sports influenced by some factors, one wasbalanced nutrition on athletes. Balanced nutrition on athletes should be givenhuge attention, because giving unbalanced nutrition will cause damage toathletes’ performance, health and sport achievement. The research mainly focusabout nutritional status from heavy lifters, weightlifter and bodybuilder fromIndonesian National Sport Commitee(KONI) Riau province on year 2015. Theresearch design is descriptive cross-sectional. The samples were obtained by totalsampling. The result showed that there were 30 people : 16 heavy lifters, 9weightlifters and 5 bodybuilder; 70% male and 30% female; the average age is atthe end of adolescent age (17-25 yr); Body Mass Index (BMI) mostly overweight(33,3%); the measurement of waist circumference showed that 43,3% has obesity;waist hip ratio showed that 46,6% has obesity, body fat compotition by skinfoldshow abnormality by 63,3% and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) by 90%.The conclusion is athletes’ nutrition status is high normal. Based on the researchKONI suggested to show more attention to athletes’ nutrition.Key words : Heavy lifters, weightlifter, bodybuilder, Indonesian national sportcommitee , nutritional status
