Abstract

AbstractEthnomathematics is defined as the integration between a specific culture and mathematics. This research aims to develop teaching materials as a learning module on geometry building space integrated with Betawi culture. The research method is R&D with the Plomp model, which consists of five phases: preliminary investigation; design; construction/ realization; test, evaluation, and revision; also implementation. The subjects in this study consisted of three Lecturers of Mathematics Education at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, one junior high school teacher, and two high school teachers in the North Jakarta area. In addition, in this study, four junior high school students and four high school students were also involved as respondents in assessing the readability of the modules made.The results of assessments from experts show that the modules made are very feasible. The results of the students' responses to the learning module are included in the perfect category. So, it was concluded that the module could be used as additional material for teachers in teaching the geometry of flat buildings and building spaces using Betawi culture. Abstrak Etnomatematika merupakan integrasi antara budaya tertentu dengan matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar berupa modul pembelajaran geometri bangun ruang yang diintegrasikan dengan kebudayaan Betawi. Metode penelitiannya yaitu R&D dengan model Plomp yang terdiri dari lima fase, yaitu fase investigasi awal; desain; konstruksi/ realisasi; tes, evaluasi, dan revisi; serta implementasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga Dosen Pendidikan Matematika UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, satu orang guru SMP, dan dua guru SMA di wilayah Jakarta Utara. Selain itu, dalam penelitian ini dilibatkan juga empat orang siswa SMP dan empat orang siswa SMA sebagai responden dalam menilai keterbacaan modul yang telah dibuat. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian dari ahli menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dibuat  sangat layak. Adapun hasil respon peserta didik terhadap modul pembelajaran termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa modul yang dibuat dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan tambahan bagi guru dalam mengajarkan geometri bangun datar dan bangun ruang dengan menggunakan budaya betawi.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the use of Google Classroom with Problem Based Learning model on students' mathematical representation abilities. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 17 Tangerang Selatan City in the 2021/2022 academic year. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method, the test instrument has given in the form of 6 test items for mathematical representation ability and student response questionnaires in learning mathematics by Google Classroom with Problem Based Learning model. The research instrument was given to 78 students as research subjects. The results of this study are: the use of Google Classroom in learning mathematics with the Problem Based Learning model can be implemented by utilizing the features available in Google Classroom. The mathematical representation ability of students who learn by using Google Classroom with Problem Based Learning model as a whole is in the medium category. The positive response of students who learn mathematics using Google Classroom with Problem Based Learning model cumulatively 73.89% is in the high category. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan media Google Classroom dengan model Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 17 Kota Tangerang Selatan pada tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif, instrumen tes yang diberikan berupa 6 butir soal tes kemampuan representasi matematis dan angket respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika menggunakan Google Classroom dengan Model Problem Based Learning. Instrumen penelitian diberikan kepada 78 siswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu penggunaan Google Classroom dalam pembelajaran matematika dengan model Problem Based Learning dapat diimplementasikan dengan memanfaatkan fitur-fitur yang ada pada Google Classroom. Kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang belajar menggunakan media Google Classroom dengan model Problem Based Learning secara keseluruhan berada pada kategori sedang. Serta untuk respon positif siswa yang belajar matematika menggunakan Google Classroom dengan model Problem Based Learning secara kumulatif sebesar 73.89% berada pada kategori tinggi.

Abstract

The low ability of algebraic thinking in solving math problems is still a problem. One of the causes is that many students still make mistakes when solving math problems. This study aims to describe the algebraic thinking ability of high school students, cognitive style of Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD) students, determine the relationship and the magnitude of the influence between algebraic thinking ability with cognitive style of students. This research was conducted at 38 Senior High School  Jakarta, 66 Senior High School Jakarta, and 97 Senior High School Jakarta in the 2023/2024 school year. This research is a quantitative descriptive research, the test instrument is 6 items of description of algebraic thinking ability and GEFT test instrument developed by Witkin. The results showed that students' algebraic thinking ability was in the moderate category. Of the 102 respondents, 59% of students have FI cognitive style about 41% of students have FD cognitive style. There is a significant difference that students with FI cognitive style better than students with FD cognitive style. There is an influence between the cognitive style of students on the ability to think algebraically by 16.70%.

Abstract

Abstract: Algebraic thinking ability is the ability to analyze, model, and present information using mathematical language, think about patterns, functions, structures, and objects that cannot be determined with certainty, apply various mathematical discoveries, and solve problems. This study aims to identify the relationship and the magnitude of the influence of initial mathematical ability on students' algebraic thinking ability. The research was conducted in the even semester of the 2023/2024 at SMAN 1 Ciseeng, SMAN 1 Gunung Sindur, and SMAN 3 South Tangerang City. The method used was a survey with a correlational approach, using instruments for initial mathematical ability tests and algebraic thinking ability tests developed by Hee-Chan Lew. The sample consisted of 94 students. The results showed that initial mathematical ability has a strong relationship and a positive and significant influence on algebraic thinking ability. Abstrak: Kemampuan berpikir aljabar merupakan kemampuan dalam menganalisis, memodelkan, menyajikan informasi secara bahasa matematik, berpikir tentang pola, fungsi, struktur serta objek yang tidak dapat ditentukan secara pasti, mengaplikasikan berbagai penemuan matematika, dan memecahkan permasalahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi hubungan serta besar pengaruh kemampuan awal matematis terhadap kemampuan berpikir aljabar siswa. Penelitian dilakukan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2023/2024 di SMAN 1 Ciseeng, SMAN 1 Gunung Sindur, dan SMAN 3 Kota Tangerang Selatan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu survei dengan pendekatan korelasional menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan awal matematis dan tes kemampuan berpikir aljabar yang dikembangkan oleh Hee-Chan Lew. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 94 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan awal matematis memiliki hubungan yang kuat serta pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir aljabar.

Abstract

Abstract The 2022 PISA results reveal that students' mathematical intuitive thinking remains low. To enhance this ability, learning must actively engage students in constructing understanding and stimulating their intuition. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there is an effect of the CBL model on students' mathematical intuitive thinking abilities. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental type with a posttest-only control group design. The population in this study were all eighth-grade students of a junior high school in South Tangerang. The sample size was 60 students, namely 30 students in the experimental group and 30 students in the control group with a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a mathematical intuitive thinking ability test instrument. The results of this study showed that the sig. value = 0.000 is smaller than the 0.05 significance standard in the hypothesis test. This indicates that the average mathematical intuitive thinking ability of students in statistics material taught using the CBL model is higher than that of students taught using the Direct Instruction learning model. This study concludes that learning mathematics using the CBL model has an effect on students' mathematical intuitive thinking abilities.   Abstrak Hasil PISA 2022 menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir intuitif matematis siswa masih rendah. Untuk meningkatkan kemampuan ini, proses pembelajaran perlu melibatkan siswa secara aktif dalam membangun pemahaman dan menumbuhkan intuisi matematis mereka. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini untuk menentukan ada tidaknya pengaruh model CBL terhadap kemampuan berpikir intuitif matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan jenis quasi-eksperimen berdesain posttest only control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa kelas VIII salah satu SMP di Tangerang Selatan. Sampel berjumlah 60 siswa, yaitu 30 siswa kelompok eksperimen dan 30 siswa kelompok kontrol dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen tes kemampuan berpikir intuitif matematis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai sig. = 0,000 lebih kecil dari standar signifikansi 0,05 pada uji hipotesis. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan berpikir intuitif matematis siswa pada materi statistika yang diajar menggunakan model CBL lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang diajar dengan model Direct Instruction. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran matematika menggunakan model CBL berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir intuitif matematis siswa.
