Abstract

Cooperative approach has been proven to be one of successful learning strategies to improve learning. We investigated team-based learning (TBL) as a means to improve students’ understanding of statistics. Samples were 40 junior high schools students in West Java. Improvement after treatment was evaluated by an individual written test. Results suggested that students learning with TBL achieved better test results than control class. Description of team dynamics and its contribution to learning achievement is discussed.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of mathematics learning using a multimedia-assisted analogy approach in developing mathematical representation. The sample used was grade 7 students of two classes, totaling 44 students. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with randomized posttest only. Two classes were randomly selected as samples, namely class VII-1 as the experimental class and class VII-3 as the control class. The analysis was performed using the t-test at α = 5%, obtained t-count = 4.205> t-table = 2.018. The results indicate that the mathematical representation ability of students whose learning uses the analogy approach is significantly higher than students whose learning uses a conventional approach or in other words, the multimedia-assisted analogy approach can be used as alternative learning in developing student representation abilities especially in algebraic material.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials using a thinking maps strategy on the flat side space building material. Thinking Maps is a learning strategy with eight visual maps, where each map has an essential thinking ability. This research uses the Thinking Maps type: double bubble map, treemap, and multi-flow map. The selection of trial subjects used the purposive sampling technique in class VIII SMP/MTs students. The method used in this research is development research with a 4-D model from (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The results showed that the teaching materials developed had perfect criteria based on content feasibility, language feasibility, presentation feasibility, teaching material design, thinking maps strategy, and evaluation of teaching materials. The student responses based on the quality aspects of the presentation of the material, the creation of teaching materials, and the benefits have perfect criteria. Thus, this teaching material is included in the ideal measures and can use in learning mathematics for class VIII.

Abstract

The Extraordinary School (SLB) 4 Jakarta is a school special for deafness students. The deafness students has a difference with a normal students, so there are special treatment for them especially in mathematics teaching. When we observe to school, we get some information about they services to students,  one of the information was that the mathematics teacher taught students using inquiry model. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the application of mathematics learning models in SLBN 4 Jakarta for class XI students with hearing impairment in terms of planning and implementing learning, student responses and test results during the learning process, as well as the learning tools or media used. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with research subjects namely one mathematics class teacher and five students of SLBN 4 Jakarta class XI in the 2018/2019 school year. The collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that (1) The preparation of mathematics learning planning in SLBN 4 Jakarta curriculum used was the 2013 curriculum (2) The implementation of mathematics learning in SLBN 4 Jakarta used the expository method and MMR (Reflective Maternal Method) (3) There were 2 results of learning activities, namely student responses and test results (4) mathematics learning tools or media used by teachers are still conventional.

Abstract

The four of competencies for the teacher and lecturers according to Education Law in Republic Indonesia Number 14 year 2005 are pedagogical competence, personal competence, social competence and professional competence. Professional and pedagogical competence skills related to teacher or lecture ability on manage learning process in the classroom to improve learning outcomes particularly on mathematics. Most of the teachers face many obstacles to improve the pedagogical and professional competence, one of the reason is infrequently on seminar or workhsops. The effort that can help teacher to improve the pedagogical and professional competence is through cooperation between university and school which is called participatory action research, this partnership aims to (1) Implementing the theory of mathematics’ teaching and learning in the class; (2) Assist the teacher to arrange lesson plan in mathematics; (3) Develop innovative strategi, model or approach for mathematics’ teaching and learning; and (4) Conducting relationship between university and stakeholders, in this case  islamic primary school/Madrasah. The result showed that the activities of participatory action research in islamic primary school Nurun Najah 2 Rengas Chester positive impact on mathematics learning activities, particularly increasing students' understanding in cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspect.

Abstract

Metode permainan yang dikembangkan oleh J.P Dienes merupakan landasan teori dalam pengembangan pembelajaran matematika dalam penelitian ini. Proses pembelajaran dilaksanakan di kelas 1 madrasah ibtidaiyah di wilayah Bekasi. Materi yang dibahas adalah konsep bilangan, sebagaimana ketentuan dalam kurikulum pembelajaran matematika bahwa untuk kelas 1 kompetensi dasarnya adalah Melakukan penjumlahan dan pengurangan bilangan sampai 20. Ada enam tahap permainan yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika khususnya materi berhitung yaitu Bermain Bebas dengan menggunakan teknik bermain Ku Ku Ku, Permainan dengan menggunakan kalung bilangan, Penelaahan Sifat Bersama dengan menggunakan papan saku, Representasi menggunakan LKS, Penyimbolan dan Pemformalan dilaksanakan dengan cara diskusi bersama antara siswa dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan metode permainan dapat meningkatan kemampuan berhitung siswa dan aktivitas belajar matematika siswa.

Abstract

The purpose: describe of Student's Habits of Mind, and its influence to students’s mathematical generalization at  junior high school particularly in teaching and learning mathematics. Habits of mind is defined as someones’ habits or trends to performed as an intelligent behavioral patterns confronted with the problems that can not be solve easily. There are four categories of Habits of Mind in this research: persisting, thinking, thinking flexibly, and applying past knowledge to new situations. The method is Expose Facto method, conducted a long April and May 2016 with the subject of  research are  students at MTs Negeri 32 Jakarta, class VIII-5 as 38 people. The instruments: questionnaires and test. The result show that correlation between Habits of mind and students’generalization, as  a simple linear regression analysis. At the level of significance α = 0.05 obtained linear regression formula Y = -86,165 + 2,116X.  The coefficient of correlation (r2) = 0,425 and coefficient of determination = 42,5%. Its means that students’ habits of mind that gives positive effect  to students’ mathematical Generalization as 42.5% while 57.5% impact of others. Keywords: Habits of Thinking, Ability of Mathematical Generalization

Abstract

Tulisan ini merupakan hasil penelitian tentang kompetensi pedagogis guru matematika MTs dalam hal mengembangkan desain pembelajaran. Dua hal yang dikaji yaitu: 1) bagaimana guru mengembangkan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan saintifik; 2) bagaimana kompetensi guru dalam proses pembelajaran yang mendukung kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa (KBTTM). Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah guru MTs yang berasal dari Banten, Sumatra Selatan, Jakarta, Jawa Barat, Jawa Timur, dan Sulawesi Selatan. Guru yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 61 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi yang meliputi 11 keterampilan dasar dalam penyusunan RPP dan angket yang terdiri dari 24 butir pernyataan dan 5 pertanyaan terbuka. Instrumen diuji validitasnya dengan uji pakar yang melibatkan 6 orang dosen. Temuan penelitian: 1) berdasarkan hasil observasi diketahui bahwa guru dapat merancang pembelajaran matematika menggunakan pendekatan saintifik cukup baik, namun penjabaran indikator yang menunjukkan KBTTM belum terlihat; 2) berdasarkan hasil angket disimpulkan bahwa keterlibatan guru dalam pengembangan KBTTM siswa di MTs masih belum maksimal yang ditunjukkan dengan intensitas keterlibatannya dalam mengikuti pelatihan atau seminar. This paper is the result of study about mathematics teachers’ pedagogical competencies in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in developing scientific-based lesson plan. Two things that were examined in this study are: 1) how teachers develop learning using scientific approach; 2) how the teacher’s competence in the learning process that supports students’ high-level thinking skills (KBTTM). The population in this study is MTs teachers in Banten, South Sumatra, Jakarta, West Java, East Java, and South Sulawesi. There were 61 teachers involved in this study. The instrument used was an observation sheet which included 11 basic skills in the preparation of lesson plan, and a questionnaire consisting of 24 statements, and 5 open questions. The instrument was tested for validity with an expert test involving 6 lecturers. Research findings: 1) based on observations, teachers are able to design mathematics learning using scientific approaches quite well, however, the elaboration of indicators that show KBTTM has not been seen. 2) based on the results of the questionnaire, teacher involvement in the development of KBTTM students in MTs was still not maximal, as indicated by the intensity of their involvement in attending training or seminars.

Abstract

Mengajarkan matematika bukanlah hal yang mudah, perlu di rencanakan sebuah pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa memahami matematika dengan mudah.Dalam penelitian ini dikembangkan sebuah pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan Schema-Based Instruction (SBI) dengan strategi FOPS dalam meningkatkan kemampuan aljabar siswa.Metode  yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain randomized control group posttest only, sampelnya adalah siswa SMP Negeri 12 Tangerang Selatan sebanyak 2 kelas, kelas pertama sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas kedua sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu Tes Kemampuan Berpikir Aljabar sebanyak 8 soal, yang diuji dengan menggunakan uji perbedaan dua rata-rata. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan thitung = 2,180 dan  ttabel = 1,99, karena thitung> ttabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir aljabar siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan pendekatan SBI dengan strategi FOPS lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kemampuan aljabar siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan pembelajaran inquiry based RME pada materi Himpunan di SMP dalam meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Randomized Posttest Only Control Group. Sampel penelitiannya yaitu siswa SMP Negeri 272 Jakarta Timur kelas VII sebanyak dua kelas, kelas pertama sebagai kelas eksperimen dimana siswa belajar matematika dengan menggunakan pendekatan inquiry based RME dan kelas kedua sebagai kelas control dimana siswa belajar matematika dengan menggunakan pendekatan konvensional dengan memilih materi himpunan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa inquiry based RME dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematik siswa lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konvensional.
