Abstract

The results of the examination of patients who take part in the Prolanis program are only recorded at health care facilities, while the patients themselves do not know the results of the examination. To bridge this, chronic disease detection applications are designed. There are several factors that can affect a user's willingness to use the application, one of which is the user's characteristics. This study aims to examine the relationship between respondent characteristics and acceptance of chronic disease detection applications. The type of research used is quantitative research with the location of the study, namely in health service facilities in Semarang Regency, namely Lerep Health Center, Ungaran Health Center and Niki Helti Clinic. Data were obtained through questionnaires with a linkert scale filled out by patients in health care facilities as system users as many as 131 respondents. The study will be conducted in June-August 2023. Data analysis techniques using Chi square test and Spearman Rank test. The results showed that there was a relationship between age (p value 0.001), education (p value 0.000), length of use of mobile phones (p value 0.001) and use of health applications (p value 0.012) on the acceptance of chronic disease detection applications. Gender (p value 0.051), occupation (p value 0.626) and length of work (p value 0.293) were not associated with acceptance of chronic disease detection applications. In further research, it is recommended to conduct a mix method study, apply a qualitative approach, and add variables such as digital literacy.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from impaired insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. According to the IDF data, in 2021, there were 537 million people with diabetes globally, with more than 70% of them undiagnosed. In Semarang City, in 2023, there were 41,468 reported cases of diabetes, with the majority in the age group of 46-65 years. Public knowledge about diabetes, including its symptoms, risk factors, prevention, and management, is crucial to combat this disease. This research employed a descriptive-analytic epidemiological method with a Rapid Survey design. Data was collected in November 2024 at the Pramita Laboratory in South Semarang. The study population consisted of participants from a health education program themed "All We Know About Diabetes Mellitus," with a sample size of 90 respondents selected through total sampling. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed significant gaps in public knowledge about diabetes, including its etiology, classification, risk factors, diagnostic criteria, treatment, and complications. These knowledge deficits pose critical barriers to early diagnosis and effective management of diabetes, contributing to increased morbidity, healthcare costs, and socioeconomic burden. Addressing these gaps through targeted educational programs is imperative to reduce diabetes-related complications and improve community health outcomes. The results underscore the urgency for comprehensive public health strategies to enhance diabetes awareness and support preventative measures, particularly in regions with high prevalence rates like Semarang City.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a global health problem, including in Semarang City. There were 7,844 cases in 2023 in Semarang City. The success rate of treatment in Semarang City is still at 85%. Tuberculosis is closely related to environmental factors and housing quality. This study examined how adequate housing and household sanitation conditions for Tuberculosis patients are linked to their treatment success. Data on the housing and household sanitation of the patients were taken in the first quarter of 2024 based on home visits to drug-sensitive Tuberculosis patients domiciled in Semarang City who were diagnosed in 2023 and 2024 who were still undergoing treatment and the final results of their treatment were seen in the last quarter of 2024. The data were analyzed using linear regression to examine the relationship between adequate housing and patient treatment success and the link between household sanitation and the treatment outcomes of Tuberculosis patients in Semarang City. Of the 2,007 samples, 789 patients, or 39.3%, were children (aged <15 years), and 1,119, or 55.8%, were male. It was found that 1,023 (50.9%) patients had inadequate houses, and 1,113 (55.5%) patients had poor household sanitation. The results showed that 119 (5.9%) patients recovered, 873 (43.5%) patients completed treatment, 27 (1.3%) patients died, 96 (4.8%) patients dropped out of treatment (lost to follow-up), and 4 (0.2%) patients failed. There was a significant association between housing adequacy and patient treatment outcomes (p = 0.042). Household sanitation does not show a significant relationship with treatment success (p-value = 0.564). There are still other factors that can affect the recovery of Tuberculosis patients. It is better to involve political, social, economic, and cultural sectors in addition to the health sector to carry out interventions to improve the adequacy of housing for Tuberculosis patients.

Abstract

Background: More than 10% of adults in Indonesia experience mental and emotional disorders. Previous research has concluded that mental health is related to a person's physical literacy. Objectives: This study explores the relationship between physical literacy and mental health among adults in Semarang City, Indonesia, emphasizing the mediating role of various physical literacy domains. Methods: This observational study used a cross-sectional design with 610 participants chosen by stratified selection. Physical literacy and mental health were evaluated using the Perceived Physical Literacy Questionnaire (PPLQ) and the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20), respectively. All data acquired during interviews with trained enumerators were then processed using Stata. The data was then evaluated with the Spearman Rank test. Results: The study included more women than men. They were largely high school and college students who weren't yet married. The respondents' physical literacy remained moderate, while their mental health remained good/free of unhealthy mental issues. Bivariate analysis revealed that higher levels of physical literacy were linked to better mental health outcomes, particularly in the categories of physical ability, knowledge, and motivation. Age and education levels also have a substantial impact on mental health. Conclusions: Physical literacy has a substantial impact on mental health among adults in Semarang City.

Abstract

The use of telemedicine in Indonesia has increased rapidly with the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, there are 300,000 users. The obstacle to implementing telemedicine for small medical facilities is that telemedicine is too expensive because it requires a lot of money to build and maintain it. The purpose of this study is to describe the readiness of health workers related to the use of telemedicine as a medium to support the quality of health services at Bhakti Wira Tamtama Hospital. This study was conducted from May to June 2024. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. This study measures the readiness of health workers according to the TRI (Technology Readiness Index) method. The subjects of this study were 23 respondents selected by accidental sampling. The results showed that most respondents' optimism towards telemedicine was good (87%). However, most respondents also felt uncomfortable with the use of telemedicine (73.9%) and felt unsafe using telemedicine (87%). Hospitals should provide more in-depth training on telemedicine technology and platforms for healthcare workers.
