Abstract

This research aims to analyze the results of the application of Blended Learning with reference to the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. Blended Learning and PjBL can be packaged as a learning model, namely Project-Based Blended Learning (PjB2L). The design of learning activities with the help of e-campus media is used to measure its impact on student learning outcomes in Statistics courses. The main focus of the research describes two main things, the description of the application of statistics lectures with the PjB2L model and the results of statistical tests on differences in learning outcomes obtained. Quasi-experimental research was designed to compare student learning outcomes in experimental classes (with the PjB2L model) and control classes (conventional/blended direct learning). 43 students were involved in this study which was divided into two classes, namely the control class which included 20 students, and the experimental class which involved 23 students. In addition, on data analysis technique, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), was used to compare the results of the control group and the experimental group, with the covariance variable being the pre-test results (initial knowledge). The results showed significant differences. The difference shown in this study leads to the support of the experimental group's better learning achievement.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the differences in the average value of learning motivation and student satisfaction in Mathematics lessons by applying statistical applications. This study used an experimental method with a One Group Pretest Posttest design. The subjects in this study were grade XII IPA students at SMA N 21 Batam. The average pretest score from the student motivation questionnaire was recorded at 80.5. After applying statistical applications in mathematics learning, the average posttest score increased to 96.4. Furthermore, the average pretest score from the student satisfaction questionnaire was 83.2. Moreover the average posttest score of students after applying statistical applications in mathematics learning increased to 99.2. The results of statistical analysis using Paired Sample t-Test, found a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of learning motivation and student satisfaction of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, which indicates a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores for both motivational material and student satisfaction after the statistical application was applied.

Abstract

As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has great potential in the fisheries sector. As a free trade zone, Batam is important in exporting fishery products. One of the fishery export products in Batam City is gonggong snails. It is a favorite seafood item in Riau Islands Province and has high economic value. However, previous studies focused more on the content of gonggong snails and their industrial feasibility; there has been no specific research on the analysis of gonggong snail exports in Batam City, even though gonggong snails are one of Batam City's export products. In this research, we will forecast the freight on board (FoB) value for gonggong exports in Batam City using a discrete-time Markov chain with two states: above and below the moving average. There are several types of moving averages, including simple moving averages and weighted moving averages. An initial analysis will determine the moving averages' type and duration following the Gonggong export FOB data in Batam. The data used is the Gonggong export FoB data for Batam City from January 2020 to November 2023. Based on this data, the transition probability matrix will be calculated based on the number of export transitions below and above the Weighted Moving Average 6 (WMA 6) value. Limiting probability from the Markov chain will be used to predict the long-term FOB value of fishery product exports up to steady-state conditions. It was found that steady-state conditions would be reached after 17 months, with a probability of FOB exports below WMA6 of 55.06% and FOB exports above WMA6 of 44.94%.

Abstract

Easy accessibility to the internet and social media allows individuals to communicate anonymously, providing opportunities for abusive and harmful behavior. The psychological impact of cyberbullying can be very detrimental, triggering stress, depression, and even causing more serious consequences such as suicide. This paper describes cyberbullying sentiment analysis with a focus on the use of four different boosting methods, namely Gradient Booster, Gradient Booster, XGBoost, AdaBoost, dan LightGBM on a multi-label public dataset covering 6 categories. The aim of this research is to compare and analyze the relative performance of these boosting methods in overcoming the challenges of multi-label sentiment analysis in the context of cyberbullying. Results reveal that XGBoost and LightGBM have a tendency to more effectively overcome the challenges of detecting cyberbullying in more complex categories, making a positive contribution to the development of superior detection systems in the context of multi-label sentiment analysis. This research contributes to the field by providing a comparative analysis of state-of-the-art boosting algorithms, highlighting their strengths in multi-label classification tasks, and offering practical insights for developing more accurate and reliable cyberbullying detection systems. The findings from this study are expected to serve as a reference for future development of machine learning-based tools that can help mitigate the psychological harm caused by online abuse, particularly in detecting subtle and complex forms of cyberbullying behavior.

Abstract

Batam is one of the cities in Indonesia which is located in a strategic area which is on international shipping lanes and has a sea area of 3,675 km2, so it has enormous potential in the field of marine fisheries resources. The catch of fishermen is strongly influenced by wind, temperature and rainfall. However, the main factor that is often a problem for fishermen at sea is global warming which is increasing which causes changing patterns of wind, temperature and rainfall to become erratic which makes it difficult for fishermen to catch fish. This study aims to describe the effect of temperature, wind speed and rainfall on capture fish production in the city of Batam. The research method used is quantitative using the time series regression test which was analyzed starting from January 2016 to December 2020 with the variables analyzed being temperature (X1), wind speed (X2), rainfall (X3) and capture fisheries production (Y). The results of the partial test show that the relationship between wind speed (X2) and rainfall (X3) to Y is negative, meaning that the higher the wind speed (X2) and rainfall (X3), the less catch fish production (Y) will be. While the partial test results show that temperature (X1), wind speed (X2) and rainfall (X3) together have a significant effect on capture fisheries production (Y) in the city of Batam.

Abstract

Background: Pada era digital media pembelajaran komputer dapat diaplikasikan dalam pembelajaran matematika salah satunya GeoGebra. Pemanfaatan aplikasi GeoGebra memberikan beberapa keuntungan diantaranya dapat menghasilkan gambar–gambar berupa grafik dengan cepat dan teliti, dan memberikan pengalaman visual yang lebih jelas. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan respon dan minat belajar siswa terhadap penggunaan GeoGebra pada pembelajaran matematika Metode: Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan kuesioner. Responden merupakan siswa dari SMK Putra Jaya School Batam kelas X Jurusan Teknik Komputer Jaringan sebanyak 20 orang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan 3 tahapan yaitu tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan dan tahap akhir. Hasil: Meningkatnya antusias dan minat belajar siswa terhadap pelajaran matematika khususnya Trigonometri. Hal ini dapat dilihat berdasarkan nilai persentase respon siswa adalah sebesar 82% berada pada kategori sangat baik dan pesrsentase minat belajar siswa yaitu sebesar 80% berada pada kategori baik. Kesimpulan: Siswa lebih cepat memahami materi tersebut dengan menggunakan aplikasi GeoGebra. Dengan terlaksananya kegiatan pelatihan aplikasi GeoGebra ini diharapkan siswa mampu memahami materi matematika dengan baik, dan diharapkan guru dapat memanfaatkan aplikasi GeoGebra dalam setiap proses pembelajaran matematika untuk meningkatkan minat dan pemahaman siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Background: Ikan merupakan sumber protein hewani yang melimpah dan mudah diperoleh, namun memiliki kelemahan mudah mengalami pembusukan karena kandungan airnya yang tinggi. Kondisi ini menuntut adanya penanganan dan pengawetan yang tepat agar ikan tetap aman dikonsumsi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat pesisir Tanjung Uma, Batam, mengenai metode pengawetan pangan laut baik secara tradisional maupun modern, serta cara mendeteksi bahan pengawet berbahaya seperti boraks dan formalin dengan memanfaatkan indikator alami kunyit. Metode: Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui ceramah interaktif, diskusi, dan praktik langsung deteksi boraks dan formalin pada sampel ikan. Kegiatan diikuti oleh masyarakat pesisir yang mayoritas berprofesi sebagai ibu rumah tangga dan pelaku usaha kecil pengolahan ikan. Hasil: Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta, meliputi pemahaman perbedaan metode pengawetan tradisional dan modern, pengetahuan mengenai bahaya boraks, serta keterampilan dalam melakukan uji sederhana untuk mendeteksi bahan pengawet berbahaya. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan ini menyimpulkan bahwa edukasi disertai praktik lapangan terbukti efektif meningkatkan kemampuan masyarakat dalam mengawetkan ikan secara aman tanpa penggunaan bahan kimia berbahaya.
