Abstract

Background: Myofascial trigger point syndrome is a musculoskeletal disorder characterized by the presence of a trigger point in a sensitive area within the skeletal muscle band linkages, if pressure is applied to the area it will cause specific pain at a point that is pressed (tenderness). Myofascial trigger point syndrome is influenced both by mechanism and by positioning factors. Myofascial trigger point syndrome upper trapezius muscle radiates along the upper back and neck, behind the ears and at the temples. Methods: The research method used is in the form of a case study with 1 patient who was given physiotherapy intervention and evaluation 4 times. To overcome the problem of muscle pain in bilateral trapezius m.upper in this study, using manual physiotherapy intervention therapy in the form of friction massage. Result: The results obtained, there was a decrease in tenderness in the upper trapezius muscle VAS 5 during the first evaluation to VAS 2 at the fourth evaluation with an average VAS value pre and post after one month for four interventions, namely 1.72. The MDC value (95) is 0.196 and the MCID range is 0.88-1.7, and 1.46-2.28. Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be concluded that physiotherapy intervention with the manual method of therapy, friction massage is considered effective in reducing pain in patients with myofascial trigger point syndrome, upper trapezius muscle with visual analogues scale (VAS) parameters. Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a long-term chronic disease characterized by damage to joint cartilage which causes friction between bones, causing stiffness, pain, and restriction of movement in the knee joint. While osteoarthritis genu is a degenerative joint disease associated with cartilage damage in the knee joint. Quadriceps Setting Exercise (QSE) exercise therapy generally provides benefits in reducing complaints which are thought to be able to improve the patient's functional ability to perform activities optimally. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Quadriceps Setting Exercise (QSE) method in cases of knee osteoarthritis. Methods: Single case study, giving physiotherapy intervention to a 77-year-old woman with a diagnosis of bilateral genu knee OA. QSE was given for 2 weeks with 4 evaluations. Assessment of muscle strength using MMT. Results: There is an increase in MMT from 4 to 5 which is associated with the WOMAC score from 37 to 27, which indicates that there is an increase in the functional ability of the patient Conclusion: This study shows that the Quadriceps Setting Exercise (QSE) method of exercise can improve functional ability in osteoarthritis knees were measured using the WOMAC parameter.

Abstract

Stroke is a neurological deficit that occurs suddenly caused by vascular disorders in the form of a lack of oxygen supply to the brain that lasts more than 24 hours, resulting in damage or necrosis of brain tissue. Clinical problems that are usually found include motor, language, sensory, cognitive and emotional disorders. One of the therapeutic methods that can be used to improve upper extremity motor skills in stroke patients is mirror therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of mirror therapy to increase upper extremity motor skills in stroke cases. This study is a literature review study with a narrative method used. An evidence search was conducted on 5 databases, namely, Proquest, Scopus, Science Direct, Sage Publications and Taylor and Francis. The keywords used were “Mirror Therapy” AND “Stroke” AND “Upper Limb OR Upper Extremity” AND “Motor Skill” with the inclusion criteria of full text articles, appropriate medical diagnosis and the last 5 years publication. There are 6 articles that will be reviewed. Based on a review conducted on 6 research articles, 4 of them stated that mirror therapy is effective for improving upper extremity motor skills in stroke patients with various parameters such as the upper extremity full-meyer assessment test (FMA-UE), action research arm test (ARAT). ), box and block test and wolf motor functional test (WMFT)
