Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of class II students through the Make a Match learning model at State Elementary School 07 Palembang. This type of research is classroom action research carried out over two cycles. The subjects of this research were 30 students. Methodology: The techniques used for data collection are tests, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The research results show that learning outcomes using the Make a Match type cooperative learning model have increased in Indonesian language subjects. Main Findings: This can be seen from before the action. The average student score was only 61.83, with a completion percentage of only 60%. In cycle I, the average student score was 68, 47, with a completion percentage reaching 73%. In cycle II, the average student score was 76.30, and the completion rate reached 83%. Novelty/Originality of this study: The latest research applies the make-a-match learning model to Indonesian language subjects. Thus, using the make-a-match type cooperative learning model can improve the learning outcomes of class 2 students in Indonesian language subjects.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aims to increase class IV students' interest and learning outcomes in learning Indonesian through slip board media. Methodology: The research method used was classroom action research, which was carried out at Elementary School 07 Palembang in class IV A. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data collection instruments used were observation instruments and evaluation tests. The data analysis used is qualitative descriptive techniques and quantitative percentages of student interests and learning outcomes. Main Findings: Based on the research results, it is known that there has been an increase in students' interest and learning outcomes in learning Indonesian. This means that by using slip board media, students are able to increase their learning activities. Novelty/Originality of this study: The newness of this research lies in the slip board media used by researchers, where learning Indonesian can increase students' interest and learning outcomes. The limitation of this research is that it only focuses on class IV A of elementary schools. Researchers recommend that other research develop slip board media for Indonesian language learning or use other media in order to increase the interest and learning outcomes of elementary school students.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive research aims at describing the operation of number learning through picture clapping conducted to students with light mental retardation at Institute for physically and mentally handicapped children in Palembang. This study involves four students at the eighth grade as the subjects. Video recording and observation are undertaken to collect the data. The students' learning process will be recorded in video and later compared to the results of the observation. During the learning process using the selected strategy, teachers' role is as the facilitator to help the pupils translating the repeated adding question to be the multiplying operation. Thus, in the end of the class, students are able to do the exercises given.

Abstract

Mathematical argumentation is an important skill that must be owned in the 21st century. The purpose of the research is to analyze the structure of high school students' algebraic argumentation using the Toulmin model which consists of claim, data, warrant, and backing. This study involved 35 students in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year at Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang High School. The students were asked to provide algebraic argumentation in mathematical proofs related to the quadratic function theorem. The algebraic argumentation was then analyzed using the Toulmin model. The results showed that 20% of students' mathematical argumentation skills were at level 5; 57.14% of students' mathematical argumentation skills were at level 4; 20% of students' mathematical argumentation skills were at level 3; 2.86% of students' mathematical argumentation skills were at level 2; and no students were at level 1.

Abstract

Berdasarkan temuan ini, disarankan agar program pembelajaran difokuskan pada penguatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan argumentatif, melalui metode diskusi terbimbing, problem-based learning, serta pemberian latihan soal yang mendorong eksplorasi dan pembenaran logis atas setiap jawaban yang diberikan mahasiswa Abstract Combinatorial argumentation is an important ability in mathematical proof, and according to Toulmin's model, the argumentation consists of claim, evidence, warrant, and backing. The purpose of the research is to analyze the combinatorial argumentation structure of undergraduate students using the Toulmin model. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This study involved 93 second-semester undergraduate students in the 2022/2023 academic year at the Department of Mathematics Education, Sriwijaya University. Data collection in this study was through written tests. The undergraduate students were instructed to provide combinatorial argumentation on mathematical proofs related to the binomial theorem. The combinatorial argumentation was then analyzed using the Toulmin model. The results showed that 96% of undergraduate students' combinatorial argumentation skills were at level 2 with the category of badly organized combinatorial argumentation, and most undergraduate students had difficulties in providing claim, evidence, warrant, and backing in combinatorial argumentation. Based on these results, it is suggested that the learning program should focus on the improvement of critical and argumentative thinking skills through guided discussions, problem-based learning, and exercises that encourage exploration and logical justification of each answer given by undergraduate students.
